Jane Austin
Jane Austin's JournalIs it spam if you are an identified Democrat
and we text you about an important issue?
If you ask us not to text you again, we'll remove you from the list.
Fun at Beto/Travis County Dem Party headquarters.
OMG! Do you know about Hustle?
It's an app for texting people on specific issues or candidates.
It gives you everything you need including names and an explanation of the proposition (for instance).
It gives you responses to send no matter what they respond.
I just learned how tonight and without typing a word (except to register as an agent) I manage to contact hundreds of people about our proposition K, urging them to vote against it.
All that was in about 45 minutes, and now that I'm registered I can do it from home (or anyplace) and slot right in to whatever issue they are getting out the vote about.
This last week could probably really use more texters, so by all means find out if your local campaigns are using Hustle.
Vote! Vote! Vote!
Good for you!
My friend Abby asks every single young person she comes across if they've voted yet. Makes eating out with her pretty interesting!
I finally saw a house with Cruz signs in Austin.
I was driving on Manchaca Road and saw one house with several ugly yellow Cruz signs.
That's the only one I've seen.
And now he lives in a right-wing South American country.
Brazil elected someone on the extreme right today.
A little northwest of University of Texas
in Austin, the streets are lined with Beto signs.
I know that's expected, but there are NO Cruz signs anywhere I drive.
If only signs could vote.
I had that feeling at
Shiloh. Our family was almost alone in the park as we hiked the sunken road and the (Peach?) Orchard and other mournful sites.
Truly haunting.
