Mad_Machine76's JournalIt's a REALLY stupid lie too
Republicans lie like everybody else breathes air. But the Trump "stolen 2020 Election" lie is *the* most fact-free/substance-free lie of them all and it's frustrating and pathetic to see Republican politicians- some of whom are clearly smarter than this- latch on it out of fear of or in service to Trump.
*Ugh*
Carlson pisses me off.
I don't even want to consider what the infection/death rate would be *without* the vaccines. And WTF is he suggesting as an alternative? All anti-vaxxers have are a range of treatment options that range from quackery to expensive pharmaceuticals that are effective but only useful ONCE YOU GET SICK. And Tucker regularly rages against mitigation measures like masks, social distancing, etc.
And Carlson is vaxxed and presumably has not gotten sick with COVID yet.
From some of the folks whom brought us "Legitimate Rape"
We now have the concept of "Legitimate Gallows"
"Some of you point to the 'gallows' at the Capitol riot as evidence the riot was an armed insurrection. Call it a threat, call it an ugly symbol, call it a prop, call it what you like. But it wasn't a real gallows."
-Byron York
Sickening. I reported this tweet (having trouble linking to it).
Kizinger: "Democrats have to quit playing politics"
We finally have the answer as to why Kizinger won't support Democratic election reform efforts. In short, he is NOT our friend even with him on the 1/6 Committee.

The last comment I heard from a month or two ago
was that she said that "we'll see" after the BIFF passes, but, honestly, that doesn't sound very encouraging. I have a feeling she and Manchin and probably others in the House (i.e. Gottheimer) will walk away really quickly from BBB or continue to stall it to death once the BIFF passes. I feel like I would take those odds. Anybody want to join me?
One other really important we need to make over and over again
is that if Planned Parenthood is properly funded and women (and men) receive proper comprehensive sex education and access to contraception, it will drastically reduce the need for abortions. Anti-choicers and their Republican benefactors basically keep boxing people in. They continually cut and/or withhold funding of Planned Parenthood, they demand unscientific "abstinence-only" education in schools, don't want teenagers to have access to contraception (and some of them even don't want it for adults either and sometimes even purposely conflate it with abortion), which result in more unplanned and unwanted pregnancies which they do everything possible to encourage pregnant people to carry those pregnancies to term BUT then they also fight against increased assistance for childcare, public assistance, etc., basically anything that would help alleviate the burden of caring for an unplanned child, forcing poverty onto people. All of this not even to mention the health risks of carrying a pregnancy to term, especially among teenagers, nor pregnancies that result from rape or incest. Republicans and right-wingers are just the worst.
While I'm happy to see effective therapeutic treatments for COVID
I can't help but just shake my head at the resistance of so many people to just getting a free jab that will prevent COVID altogether if not mitigate the severity of the symptoms if you do become infected. I don't get the mentality of people like Allen West who would rather rail against vaccines and mitigation measures and seem to be fine with putting themselves at risk for severe illness. Being the healthiest person alive (or getting it once before) isn't a guarantee that you won't get severely ill and wind up on a ventilator, dead, or disabled (for which they scream and demand benefits for that they've fought against their entire political career).
When we win we still lose according to NBC News
After McConnell's blink, Democrats hold a weaker hand
Analysis: Democratic sources say there is no plan for avoiding a messier debt-limit fight in December and the Senate minority leader insists he won't help again.

How do we win or get our message out with this kind of reporting?
Mostly venting.
I have mixed feelings about this
OTOH I totally get people's anger and frustration and Sinema over her behavior and not being more open to her constituents
OTOH the idea of following people into the bathroom and filming them strikes me as bit too aggressive, especially when they could have waited until she finished and came out. As a Trans person, I don't particularly like the idea of normalizing behaviors that other less reputable actors might want to emulate and take advantage of (and have actually done to other Trans people in the past).
I guess I would say, don't be afraid to try to hold her accountable, but be smart and strategic about it. This was perhaps a bit out of bounds in general.
