Ignorance is destroying America.

Our country is being destroyed from within because too many of us believe things that are simply not true.

Decades of hate radio, Fox News, and internet websites pushing "information" that is the opposite of the truth have resulted in millions of Americans who firmly believe falsehoods.

Examples of FALSEHOODS believed by half the country include:

Immigrants are stealing our jobs and bringing disease and violence to our country.

Christianity is under attack.

There is an epidemic of violence in the "inner cities" (a reference to African American neighborhoods).

Liberals want to take money away from "hardworking real Americans" (a reference to rural whites) and give it to people who don't work (dog whistle).

Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt individual to ever run for office.

Hillary Clinton planned to go to war.

Climate change is not a very big problem.

Obama destroyed the economy and our reputation in the world.

Democratic politicians are stupid and corrupt.

(Believed by many on the left, who don't understand that majority rules in Congress) - Democrats are weak because they're not fixing all these problems.

Trump is fixing all these problems. Trump is making America safe and prosperous again for "people who are willing to work."

I'm not sure how to turn this around other than GET OUT THE VOTE among those of us who have the facts.

This is no time for purism. The Democrats need to regain the majority. It's our only hope.

Beware of anything that creates dissension between LGBT and African Americans

Who benefits when Democrats fight one another?

We have been down this path before. Later, we learned that Republicans had deliberately stirred up distrust and anger between gay folks and people of color. This was done to weaken the power of the Democratic Party, turning us against one another.

Beware, beware, beware.

And Glenn Greenwald? Not such a progressive history when it comes to immigrants. See some old tweets being retweeted:

They'd better wake up.

I grew up in the rural Midwest. Bunch of anti-intellectual racists with an attitude that somehow they're better than everybody else. Guess what. There's a reason why your communities are dying. You refused to learn anything in school and all you read is your Russian troll infested Facebook page.

A massive storm just struck the east coast, killing people. Why is the president leaving work?

I get tired of the double standards and hypocrisy. Why is Trump allowed to skip work, week after week?

This makes me angry.

Sessions praises "Anglo-American" heritage of law enforcement.

There are no words.

https://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/sessions-sheriff-anglo-american-heritage-policing-law-enforcement

Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday praised the “Anglo-American heritage of law enforcement” in a speech to the National Sheriffs’ Association.

“The office of sheriff is a critical part of the Anglo-American heritage of law enforcement,” Sessions said. “We must never erode this historic office.”

GOP plans to get rid of Trump

Now that the tax bill is signed, Trump is more of a deficit to the GOP than an asset. I expect to see the Republicans distance themselves from Trump in the new year, eventually forcing him out of office.

The lavish praise of Trump during the tax bill signing is suspicious. It's the way groups talk right before they betray somebody.

Trump is out.

My worries: Pence would be worse, and will the Republicans succeed in stopping the investigation into Russian interference?

Beware of people who jump in and out of movements.

In a movement with the hashtag #metoo there are going to be mentally unstable people who want to be included.

They might falsely accuse people. This is the dangerous flip side of movements that bring real problems out in the open.

As a lesbian, I'm familiar with the occasional false accusation of gay bashing brought forward by unstable people who wanted attention. Their accusations usually fall apart under scrutiny. It's infuriating because there are thousands and thousands of genuine examples of gay people being attacked, fired, and even murdered just because they were gay. But one false accusation tends to undo a lot of progress.

This is one reason why investigations are absolutely essential. Yes, it's important to treat accusers with respect. Don't discredit them personally or mock their stories. But please, do investigate and verify before rushing to judgement.

Is Our Revolution trying to unseat Al Franken?

I received an email that made me wonder if the Our Revolution people are trying to replace Al Franken with one of their own.

Anybody hear anything about this?
