I just got an update via e-mail from my state's unemployment department

I'm in Washington State, and they advise me to continue filing my claims in case the passed stimulus bill makes it into law. Here is what they sent me:

**QUOTE**

Employment Security Department

Movement on new federal stimulus package has paused
A new stimulus package with changes and extensions for unemployment benefits passed Congress on Dec. 21. However, it has not yet been signed into law.

Sat. Dec. 26 is the latest it can be signed into law without affecting two benefit programs.
If the bill doesn’t become law on or before Saturday Dec. 26, Employment Security Department won’t be able to issue benefits for two federal programs the claim week ending Jan. 2:

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)
Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC)
Once the bill is signed, we'll send another update with more info about availability of benefits.

If you’re receiving PUA or PEUC benefits, keep filing your weekly claims.
The Employment Security Department continues preparing to implement these changes as quickly and smoothly as possible once they become law. We’re also tracking developments closely and sharing updates on our website and social media as they become available.

Next steps
Continue filing weekly claims - even if you've exhausted your claim.
Watch for updates on esd.wa.gov/covid and messages in eServices.
Avoid calling the unemployment claims center with questions - call volume remains high
If you absolutely must call the claims center about another issue, we encourage calling in the afternoon to avoid early hours when our call volume is highest.

When we have specific information about next steps for our customers, we’ll be communicating directly via email and eServices.

If you are facing the loss of your unemployment benefits, please check with your state authorities to make sure you keep your claim up to date in case we do get some help. Hope this helps, and Happy Holidays to you all. I love you, DU! Hang in there.

It looks legit, except for the sending e-mail address. Of course, I did not click on the short cut button. Instead, I opened a new tab and logged in from there. My account is just fine, thank you very much. I've already forwarded the e-mail to spoof@paypal.com.
Please be aware of this scam!

I've got a bad feeling about this election. Please talk me down!

I'm thinking that it's not the presidential election that will be stolen, but the race for the control of the senate will be where the votes get stolen. Hear me out: At this time, Joe Biden is so far ahead of Rump, it will be difficult to alter the results of the election for a Rump win. In several states, however, the races for senate are very close, 5 percentage points or fewer. Those races would be far easier to alter the results. Maybe that's the reason for Moscow Mitch's horrific giggling at his debate with Amy McGrath. Maybe he knows that the fix is in, and the republican party is OK with throwing Rump under the bus to save the power of the Senate. Rump isn't the only one in Putin's pocket. Am I being too paranoid?

I guess the only way to tell will be after the election and the votes are counted. Let's say I live in a red state. The electorate goes 56% for Joe, but somehow records only 35% for the democratic senatorial candidate, when the polls indicate the race to be much closer. South Carolina, I'm looking at you! If this happens, what can we expect, except for maybe a re-count?

Well, they have expanded the evacuation zone to about 1.5 miles from my home

I'm just southwest of Bonney Lake, WA. They have named it the Sumner Grade fire.

I need to pack up and go up to my daughter's house before noon today when the wind is expected to pick up, as it is headed in my direction. I'll take my laptop with me so that I can keep up with the news. I hope I can get my cat into the cat carrier. Wish me luck!

Here's a picture of the temperature at my house yesterday afternoon

I live in western Washington state, between Orting and Puyallup. Inside it was 79* with the air conditioner running full blast. Outside temperature was in the shade on my covered patio. I really feel sorry for you folks in the South and Southwest! Keep cool, if you can!
