In fiery midterm speech, Biden says GOP's turned toward 'semi-fascism'

I love President Biden calling the maga assholes semi-fascists

President Biden on Thursday night launched a push toward the midterm elections with a fiery speech in Rockville, Md., in which he cast the Republican Party as one that was dangerously consumed with anti-democratic forces that had turned toward “semi-fascism.”

It was some of the strongest language used by Biden, a politician long known — and at times criticized for — his willingness to work with members of the opposite party.

“The MAGA Republicans don’t just threaten our personal rights and economic security,” Biden said, referencing former president Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again slogan. “They’re a threat to our very democracy. They refuse to accept the will of the people. They embrace — embrace — political violence. They don’t believe in democracy.

“This is why in this moment, those of you who love this country — Democrats, independents, mainstream Republicans — we must be stronger,” he added......

The rhetoric was an escalation for Biden and an indication that he views the threat as greater than just Trump and an ideology that shows little sign of abating. It marked a transition as well, as the president turned more pointedly toward the midterm elections and attempted not only to tout his own record but to create a sharper contrast with the opposing party.

“I want to be crystal-clear about what’s on the ballot this year,” he said near the start of his remarks, during which he removed his jacket and rolled up his sleeves. “Your right to choose is on the ballot this year. The Social Security you paid for from the time you had a job is on the ballot. The safety of our kids from gun violence is on the ballot.”

Our Democratic form of government is on the ballot in November

Analysis: The Biden White House gets feisty on Twitter

I love how the Biden White House has become more aggressive on twitter
https://twitter.com/washingtonpost/status/1563496599648899073

The White House Twitter account under President Biden has not been the most exciting corner of the internet. After four years of unpredictable, headline-grabbing tweets from @realDonaldTrump, the White House account has been quiet and unassuming, largely regurgitating press releases and explaining Biden’s policies.

Not anymore.

Sure, there are still the tweets touting Biden’s policies and how they’ll help people. But the White House account this week decided to hit back in uncharacteristically feisty — and personal — fashion after a number of Republicans hammered Biden’s decision to wipe out up to $20,000 in student debt for many borrowers.

When Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) criticized the loan forgiveness, the White House tweeted a clip of Greene slamming the decision and added, “Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven,” referring to the covid-era Paycheck Protection Program, which made loans to businesses.

It didn’t stop there. In a series of five more tweets, the White House targeted other Republicans who had criticized the decision with the same template: reminding Americans those same lawmakers had hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars worth of loans forgiven under the Paycheck Protection Program, while attaching video clips or tweets from the lawmakers.

Truth Social faces financial peril as worry about Trump's future grows

TFG's new media company is called Trump Media & Technology was supposed to have merged with a special purpose acquisition company by now. Following such merger, TFG's medial company would have had between $780 million and $1 billion in assets for TFG to play with. Both the SEC and the DOJ are investigating this transaction and now it looks like this transaction may never close or will only close after a substantial delay.

TFG did not put any real capital in TM&T and so it is not surprising that this company cannot pay its bills

Former president Donald Trump’s Truth Social website is facing financial challenges as its traffic remains puny and the company that is scheduled to acquire it expresses fear that his legal troubles could lead to a decline in his popularity.

Six months after its high-profile launch, the site — a clone of Twitter, which banned Trump after Jan. 6, 2021 — still has no guaranteed source of revenue and a questionable path to growth, according to Securities and Exchange Commission filings from Digital World Acquisition, the company planning to take Trump’s start-up, the Trump Media & Technology Group, public.

The company warned this week that its business could be damaged if Trump “becomes less popular or there are further controversies that damage his credibility.” The company has seen its stock price plunge nearly 75 percent since its March peak and reported in a filing last week that it had lost $6.5 million in the first half of the year......

There are signs that the company’s financial base has begun to erode. The Trump company stopped paying RightForge, a conservative web-hosting service, in March and now owes it more than $1 million, according to Fox Business, which first reported the dispute.

The company also has struggled with some basics of corporate operation. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office this month denied its application to trademark “Truth Social,” citing the “likelihood of confusion” to other similarly named companies, including an app, “VERO — True Social,” first released in 2015.

The SPAC that was supposed to merge with TM&T seems to be worried about this deal.

In fact, Digital World’s filings have been consistently downbeat on the likelihood that Truth Social will be a success. Trump’s company “may never generate any operating revenues or ever achieve profitable operations,” it said in May, and if it is “unsuccessful in addressing [its] risks, its business will most likely fail.”

This deal may join a long list of other TFG business failures.

Sandy Hook families accuse Alex Jones of transferring millions to himself while claiming bankruptcy

There is a hearing in bankruptcy Court tomorrow at 2 PM on motions to (1) appoint a tort claimant committee and (2) remove Jones' company as debtor in possession and in effect appoint a new trustee to control the Bankruptcy. I was forwarded the last motion and it reflects the items described below

Families of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting said in a court filing Thursday that Alex Jones “systematically transferred millions of dollars” to himself and his relatives while claiming bankruptcy to avoid compensating the families in the several lawsuits he faces.

The families of nine Sandy Hook victims asked the federal bankruptcy court judge to order that Jones relinquish control of Free Speech Systems, the parent company of Jones’ far-right, conspiracy theory website Infowars.

“Since the Sandy Hook Families filed their lawsuits, the Debtor has systematically transferred millions of dollars to Alex Jones and his relatives and insider entities,” the filing reads. “It claims to owe a massive, secured debt to an insider that was first documented as a loan when the Sandy Hook Families were securing key wins in Connecticut and Texas, but no records show that an actual debt existed before the Sandy Hook Families sued.”

“There are no honest debtors here,” the families say in the filing, adding that Jones was attempting to avoid paying them as they seek damages for falsely claiming that the school shooting, where 20 students and six educators were killed, was a hoax.

Beto has been hospitalized with an unnamed "bacterial infection" after feeling sick Friday.

Beto has had a grueling schedule of personal appearances all over the state. Beto stays after each of these events for pictures and to answer questions. I am not surprised that this schedule caught up with Beto

Beto will be in my prayers for a quick recovery

Inside Trump's war on the National Archives

Law do not apply to TFG. TFG is above all laws and if TFG wants something, he will take/steal it

Trump’s disdain and disregard for the presidential record-keeping system he was legally bound to adhere to is well-documented. And while advisers repeatedly warned him about needing to follow the Presidential Records Act early in his presidency, his chaotic handling of the documents prevailed.......

“Any documents that made it to the White House residence were these boxes Trump carried around with him,” explained Stephanie Grisham, a former senior White House staffer. “Usually the body man would have brought them upstairs for Trump or someone from the outer-Oval at the end of the day. They would get handed off to the residence and just disappear.”

Boxes of documents even came with Trump on foreign travel, following him to hotel rooms around the world — including countries considered foreign adversaries of the United States.

“There was no rhyme or reason — it was classified documents on top of newspapers on top of papers people printed out of things they wanted him to read. The boxes were never organized,” Grisham said. “He’d want to get work done on long trips so he’d just rummage through the boxes. That was our filing system.”

Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in refusing to turn over documents, at times suggesting that the records are his and should not be given back to the Archives.
