Perez endorsed by Hispanic caucus PAC for DNC chair
There is a DNC Forum in Houston on Saturday that I plan on attending. This is good news for Tom Perez http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/tom-perez-bold-pac-endorsement-hispanic-caucus-234065
BOLD PAC is proud to endorse Tom Perez for DNC chair, who would become the first Latino leader of the Democratic Party if elected, BOLD PAC chairman Rep. Tony Cárdenas said in a statement obtained first by POLITICO. As Americas demographics change and investments in the Latino community become more important than ever, we need a leader who will fight back when progress is threatened, inspire our partys big tent, and prepare the grassroots infrastructure to position Democrats to win in elections ahead.
The endorsement comes a few hours ahead of the third of six forums that the seven candidates for DNC chair are participating in and with about a month away from the actual vote. Perez is running against Rep. Keith Ellison, South Carolina Democratic Party chairman Jaime Harrison, New Hampshire Democratic Party chairman Ray Buckley, Idaho Democratic Party executive director Sally Boynton Brown and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
Tom will ensure that Latinos always have a seat at the table and a voice at the DNC. But more than that, he also has a long track record of ensuring everyones voice is heard and will undoubtedly continue this as DNC chair, Cárdenas added.
More People Are Attending Womens Marches Than Attended All Tea Party Rallies Combined
This amuses me http://www.politicususa.com/2017/01/21/people-attending-womens-marches-attended-tea-party-rallies-combined.html
There are more people attending Womens March On Washington events than attended all tea party rallies on their big Fox News supported day of action combined according to Nate Silver.
Heavy rains bring high water, flooding throughout Houston
Most businesses and schools are delaying opening http://www.chron.com/news/houston-weather/article/The-high-water-spots-to-avoid-when-it-rains-in-10864913.php
Rain fell at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour in portions of Harris and Fort Bend counties early Wednesday morning, and as storms continued to drench the county, a flood warning was issued for the Keegans Bayou area at US-59 in southwest Houston.High water was also reported on I-45 northbound and North Main.
There is a separate Women's march in Houston
I was thinking about driving down to the Austin March even though parking would be a problem. This is from an e-mail from the Harris County Democratic Party
We stand together in solidarity for the protection of women's rights, safety, health, families, and children, recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.
The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many women: immigrants of all statuses, Muslims and those of diverse religious faiths, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, and survivors of sexual assault. Our communities are hurting and scared.
This march will send a bold message that women's rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us. Join the Houston Women's March today; RSVP below!

Black-ish Takes on Trump, Delivers the First Post-Obama Work of Art
Last night's episode was amazing http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/recaps/black-ish-takes-on-trump-delivers-the-first-post-obama-work-of-art/ar-AAlMhnG
The optimistic, big-hearted but clear-eyed way that it comes to this is what makes this episode special. Black-ish believes that love can trump hate. It's happy to meet its opponents halfway, if they'll give it the same respect. It continues to have hope in all of us, admitting we're down, but not out.
The episode echoes the themes of the farewell speech that Barack Obama gave the night before it aired, where he said, "I am asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about change - but in yours." In fact, it's sort of eerie how perfectly in sync they are, since the episode was finished before Obama said goodbye. That speech and this episode are totems to carry into the struggle to come.
I normally do not watch this show but a friend told me about this episode and I was surprised and pleased
Texas Attorney General Goes to Trial. As the Defendant.
From Juanita Jean http://juanitajean.com/texas-attorney-general-goes-to-trial-as-the-defendant/
Just hours ago, we learned that Paxton will go to trial on the state charges on May 1st. Jury selection will be in mid to late April. All this is right in the middle of the legislative session and when people are starting to file to run against him.
In the criminal case, Paxton faces three felony charges of breaking Texas securities law. If convicted, he could be sent to prison for five to 99 years.
Last year, Paxton exhausted his options in trying to put an end to the criminal case. The final blow came in October, when Texas highest criminal court declined to hear a Paxton appeal.
Miss Karma is in the green room filing her nails and considering her options. That makes me so happy.
