Lin Wood loses appeal to block Georgia bar from seeking mental health exam

Lin Wood is a crazy person and needs to be disbarred

A federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday that attorney Lin Wood cannot sue to stop the Georgia state bar from seeking to have him take a mental health exam......

The Georgia state bar has requested that Wood take a mental health exam as a part of an investigation into the attorney after he promoted election conspiracy theories and tweeted that then-Vice President Mike Pence should be executed.

In a 20-page order on Tuesday, the panel of judges did not agree with Wood's accusation that the Georgia state bar requested the mental health exam in "bad faith."

"The panel also said Wood will have an opportunity to raise constitutional claims before the Supreme Court of Georgia, and that court had declined a request from Wood to pause the disciplinary proceedings," according to Reuters.

Supreme Court Halts Texas Law on Social Media Content Moderation

The US Supreme Court blocked a Texas law that critics say would fundamentally transform Twitter Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc.’s Facebook by requiring them to allow hate speech and extremism.

Over four dissents, the justices put the measure on hold while a constitutional challenge goes forward in a lower court, granting a request from tech groups that represent the platforms. A federal appeals court let the law, known as HB20, go into effect earlier this month.

“It will be impossible for these websites to comply with HB20’s key provisions without irreversibly transforming their worldwide online platforms to disseminate harmful, offensive, extremist, and disturbing content,” argued the tech groups, NetChoice and Computer and Communication Industry Association.

The Texas law bars social media platforms with more than 50 million users from discriminating on the basis of viewpoint. Texas Governor Greg Abbott and other Republicans say the law is needed to protect conservative voices from being silenced.

The measure gives Texas residents “equal access to the modern public square and the many benefits resulting from free and open dialogue in that square,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton argued in court papers. He said platforms could still bar broad categories of content, including pornography and spam.

Disney handing out 'barf bags' to passengers on its new roller coaster: report

My kids rode this ride two weeks ago. They enjoyed it.

Disney World’s new, state-of-the-art roller coaster is making customers sick to their stomachs — forcing theme park officials to hand out “barf bags” to nauseated passengers, according to a new report.

The new ride at Disney World’s Epcot theme park, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind” — which rotates 360 degrees and has the first-ever reverse launch on a roller coaster in Disney history — is causing intense motion sickness among some patrons, according to Disney blog Inside the Magic.

The rollercoaster, which officially opened on Friday, is so bad that Disney even added employees at the end of the ride to hand out barf bags for sick customers, one rider wrote on Twitter.

“A very large amount of people taking barf bags at the exit… I get it! We rode row 1 and I’m still making this face,” he griped.

The Marvel-themed ride, which is billed as a mix between the half-century-old Space Mountain and the kid-friendly Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, has been getting complaints since last month when customers began testing out the new ride.

Peter Navarro is litigating the contest of DOJ subpoena pro se

Before TFG, Navarro was a third or fourth tier academic that no one paid attention to. Jarod did a google search and found Navarro because Navarro was one of the few people who supported some of TFG crazed economic policies.

There is a saying in my profession, that a person who represents himself has a fool for a client. Navarro is truly a fool

'Soulless': Trump Torched For Dance At NRA Event After Reading TX Shooting Victims' Names

TFG is an asshole and showed a great deal of disrespect for the Uvalde victims

Former President Trump was met with backlash for his bizarre reading of the names of victims of the tragic Texas elementary school shooting during his speech at the NRA convention on Friday night — which concluded with a … dance.

Trump’s appearance at the NRA event occurred just days after a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas and killed 19 children and two teachers.

During his speech, Trump issued demands that other prominent Republicans have pushed in the wake of the shooting: arming teachers with firearms, schools with a single entryway and armed guards at the entryway. The former president praised the NRA, saying that “the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”

In a jarring moment of his speech, Trump read the names of the Texas school shooting victims aloud, in which the sound of a gong was played after each name.

Trump went on to conclude his speech by dancing to the 1966 song “Hold On, I’m Comin’” by Sam and Dave — a move that was swiftly slammed by Twitter users as a sign of disrespect in light of the lives lost during the tragic Texas elementary school shooting.

MAY 27, 2022

STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
The Biden-Harris Administration is using the full resources of the federal government to respond to the horrific massacres that took place at Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo, New York, and at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. This fact sheet summarizes some key federal social service programs and other supports that are part of that mobilization. .....

Helping Students:

Under the Project School Emergency Response to Violence (Project SERV), the Department of Education can provide support to local educational agencies (LEAs) or institutions of higher education (IHEs) after a traumatic event, which may occur on or off of school or campus grounds. These grants are intended to provide funds to meet acute needs and restore the learning environment, for example by surging mental health supports to students and staff. The Department of Education has communicated to Buffalo Public Schools and the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (Uvalde CISD) that it stands ready to help the school districts access these resources.
The Department of Education is also encouraging educators and families across the country to reference its report providing information and resources to promote mental health and social and emotional well-being among students among early childhood, K–12 schools, and higher education settings.
The Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Supportive Schools has established the Readiness and Emergency Management for School (REMS) Center to perform two critical functions: build the preparedness capacity (including prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts) of schools, school districts, IHEs, and their community partners at the local, state, and Federal levels; and serve as the primary source of information for schools, school districts, and IHEs for emergencies. The following resources are available through the REMS Center: Recovery from an Emergency Incident; Supporting Child and Student Social, Emotional, Behavioral, and Mental Health Needs; Becoming Trauma Informed: Taking the First Step to Becoming a Trauma-Informed School; and a Managing Donations and Volunteers Fact Sheet.
The National Center on Safe and Supportive Learning Environments (NCSSLE), funded by the Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Supportive Schools, offers information and technical assistance to states, districts, schools, IHEs, and communities focused on improving school climate and conditions for learning. NCSSLE resources include: Response and Resiliency; After a School Tragedy…Readiness, Response, Recovery, & Resources; Coping with Crisis: Helping Children with Special Needs; and a resource on emotional safety at school: https://safesupportivelearning.ed.gov/topic-research/safety/emotional-safety.
