WASHINGTON — The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday voted to approve subpoenas for conservative activist Leonard Leo and GOP megadonor Harlan Crow in its Supreme Court ethics probe.

The subpoenas were approved by 11 Democratic senators; no other senators voted. Republican members walked out of the committee room during the vote once it was clear that Chairman Dick Durbin, D-Ill., wouldn't allow votes on any GOP amendments.

Ahead of the meeting, Durbin told reporters that Republicans had filed 177 amendments, which would have taken hours to go through....

Before the vote on the subpoenas, the meeting devolved into partisan bickering after Democrats tried to block Republicans from debating a nominee the panel was considering.

Today, we learned that annual inflation fell to its lowest level since March 2021 and monthly inflation was zero. Alongside yesterday’s news that our economy grew by more than 5% last quarter, this flat inflation is helping deliver the breathing room families need right now, especially around the holidays. Our actions have mended supply chains and helped bring inflation down to its lowest level in two years. But we still have more work to do: prices are still too high for too many families. That’s why I’m fighting every single day and calling on corporations to lower costs for middle-class families, even as Republicans in Congress focus on lowering taxes for the wealthy and largest corporations.

Angry Kevin McCarthy cursed out Trump in tense phone call after his ouster: report

This makes me smile

In a phone call with Trump this past October, the former president told McCarthy that he didn't do enough to save his job from the rebellion led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) because he had failed to expunge Trump's two impeachments in the House of Representatives and had not endorsed his 2024 presidential bid.

"F--k you," McCarthy reportedly said in response.

All the same, the Post reports that McCarthy and Trump still have a working relationship, as "the two continue to speak and text."
