My Fair Lady v Pygmalion

When I was a kid, we all thought My Fair Lady was the epitome of taste, and couldn't understand George Bernard Shaw's take at all. After seeing a recent high school production, I have to cringe at the "Bless their dear hearts, isn't it good women have us to run the world?" attitude crowned by Eliza's return to Professor Higgens.

Syracuse needs to drop its mascot - The Orangeman is deeply offensive

to John Boehner and many who keep our tanning salons solvent.

Hey - let's give a shout-out to all the druggies out there!

Thanks to you, if I need more pain medication, I have to be personally transported 25 miles to the doctor to be personally presented with a written slip which I then hand carry to the pharmacy.

Thanks to you, I have to be personally transported 20 miles to a different doctor to get a refill or any change to my Lyrica dose, where I get a hand written slip to be hand carried to the pharmacy. And as my husband says, just why the Hell is Lyrica on anyone's list of scheduled drugs!

God Bless Barack Obama! I think the day will come that the ACA will be as revered as Social Security

My husband's company has always had good insurance, so Obama did nothing for me,right?

Well, right now I have cancer.

Thanks to the ACA -

My husband can change jobs at any and get the same good insurance.

My doctors communicate with me and each other electronically. Sitting here right now looking more like a pin cushion than a hedgehog, not having to repeat blood work is a big plus.

My case is supervised by a doctor who isn't being overworked and closely monitored by a Nurse Practitioner who has time to ask questions - a change in medical practice that offers better care at a lower price.

Info is being gathered and examined to determine best practice for all kinds of conditions - including mine.

There are no limits on my medications - I'll have all the chemo I need.

There are no limits on any hospital care - something I'm hoping to avoid, but hey, who knows what's ahead?

1. I know it's not single payer, but SS is a different animal than when it first came out; I expect good changes ahead.

2. This isn't meant as a sympathy post - just a reminder of what the ACA means to a lot of people.

Sooooo, in the last 2 years, I've lost 55 pounds with another 30 to go.

I've been on a roller coaster this month after my sonogram to determine if I had gallstones showed that I have cancer. I start chemo Monday.

So, today I open one of those patient information pages that lists your medications and appointments, and what is the first item on the list? Before the block that gives my name and address, at the very top of the page, is a cheery little section noting that my BMI is too high and I should really work on that by eating well and exercising more! Like I don't know that. Like I haven't spent two years watching every calorie I eat. Like that's the first thing on my mind right now.

Iran Calls GOP Letter 'Propaganda Ploy,' Offers To 'Enlighten' Authors

Source: NPR

Zarif said he was astonished by the letter, saying it suggests the U.S. lawmakers "not only do not understand international law" — a subject in which he is a professor — "but are not fully cognizant of the nuances of their own Constitution when it comes to presidential powers in the conduct of foreign policy,"

Here is the question we really need to consider:

It's nice to know that most people would prefer Hillary Clinton over Jeb Bush. Bur how many people are excited enough about Hillary Clinton to drag themselves over to the polls and vote? This question becomes more important in light of Republican moves to make voting more difficult.

I have long thought that Al Gore's defeat owed more to this factor than Ralph Nader or the theft of Florida. If more people had gone out and voted, none of that would have mattered.

On a scale from 1-10, how's your pain?

I never knew how to answer until I tripped over this chart:
