then so are Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, and Elizabeth Warren. All of them also demanded Franken resign.
Having a deal breaker for supporting a candidate is fine, but we should be consistent. Gillibrand isn't my first choice, but I think it's absurd to crucify her on this and give everyone else a pass.
And, for the record, here are all the other Democratic Senators who said the same thing as Gillibrand:

...Is the appointment of Chaplains to the two Houses of Congress consistent with the Constitution, and with the pure principle of religious freedom?
In strictness the answer on both points must be in the negative. The Constitution of the U. S. forbids everything like an establishment of a national religion. The law appointing Chaplains establishes a religious worship for the national representatives, to be performed by Ministers of religion, elected by a majority of them; and these are to be paid out of the national taxes. Does not this involve the principle of a national establishment, applicable to a provision for a religious worship for the Constituent as well as of the representative Body, approved by the majority, and conducted by Ministers of religion paid by the entire nation.
The establishment of the chaplainship to Congs is a palpable violation of equal rights, as well as of Constitutional principles: The tenets of the chaplains elected [by the majority] shut the door of worship agst the members whose creeds & consciences forbid a participation in that of the majority.
...Better also to disarm in the same way, the precedent of Chaplainships for the army and navy, than erect them into a political authority in matters of religion.
With all the hoopla around Ryan firing the House chaplain, and now around who's going to replace him, I say we go with Madison and get rid of chaplains in Congress altogether.

Haley's record on LGBTQ rights has been spotty, at best. Though as U.N. Ambassador she has spoken out about the violent persecution and murder of gay people in Chechnya, in addition to declaring that marriage should be for heterosexual couples, in November 2013, she opposed a federal lawsuit challenging a ban on gay marriage in South Carolina's state constitution. And as Twitter commentariat pointed out over the weekend, she is part of a presidential administration that has threatened to overturn protections for LGBTQ Americans
Panama ex-strongman Manuel Noriega dies

General Manuel Antonio Noriega, former military leader of Panama, has died aged 83, officials have announced.
Noriega recently underwent a operation after suffering a haemorrhage following brain surgery.
The former strongman was jailed in Panama for murder, corruption and embezzlement. He was released in January to prepare for the operation.
His death was announced by secretary of state for communication, Manuel Dominguez.

NYPD won't round up immigrants under Trump's deportation orders
“It is critical that everyone who comes into contact with the NYPD, regardless of their immigration status, be able to identify themselves or seek assistance without hesitation, anxiety or fear,” O’Neill said in the sharply worded, 431-word internal memo to police officers.
“The NYPD does not conduct civil immigration enforcement. Specifically, this department does not enforce administrative warrants issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents or federal immigration judges solely in connection with civil immigration violations.
