They're Back!

Reply only if you know what I am talking about.

The holiday weekend was so nice!

Observation: The viral Bernie posters have taken the weekend off.

Scrolling through the latest posts, I don't see the volume of divisive threads as usual. Evidently they all took the holiday weekend off. It almost DU as normal.

Just an observation, that's all.

Northwest Missouri State beats Shepherd 34-7, wins Division II national championship

Highlights
The Bearcats’ top-ranked defense held Shepherd scoreless in the first half

It’s the Bearcats’ fifth national title in program history

The crowd of 16,181 fans at Sporting Park set a Division II championship-game record

Eight months before the season, in the midst of an offseason workout program, Northwest Missouri State football coach Adam Dorrel shared his expectations for 2015. On paper, he told his players, the Bearcats were a 7-4 football team.

The statement wasn’t a prediction as much as an utterance that he felt reflected reality after the Bearcats had lost 22 seniors.

But it was a bit off. The final tally came in Saturday afternoon: 15-0.

Northwest Missouri State won its fifth Division II national championship in school history Saturday, when it routed Shepherd (W.Va.) 34-7 at Sporting Park. The soccer-turned-football venue set a Division II national championship-game record with a crowd of 16,181 fans — a rather high percentage of them wearing green and white.

Isn't it amazing how these rich criminals always have hoodies when arrested

They walk around in their suit and ties or polo shirt and jeans until they are arrested. It always seems they get arrested when they put a hoodie on.

Shkreli, CEO Reviled for Drug Price Gouging, Arrested on Securities Fraud Charges

32-year-old suspected of plundering Retrophin to pay debts

A boyish drug company entrepreneur, who rocketed to infamy by jacking up the price of a life-saving pill from $13.50 to $750, was arrested by federal agents at his Manhattan home early Thursday morning on securities fraud related to a firm he founded.

Martin Shkreli, 32, ignited a firestorm over drug prices in September and became a symbol of defiant greed. The federal case against him has nothing to do with pharmaceutical costs, however. Prosecutors in Brooklyn charged him with illegally taking stock from Retrophin Inc., a biotechnology firm he started in 2011, and using it to pay off debts from unrelated business dealings. He was later ousted from the company, where he’d been chief executive officer, and sued by its board.

In the case that closely tracks that suit, federal prosecutors accused Shkreli of engaging in a complicated shell game after his defunct hedge fund, MSMB Capital Management, lost millions. He is alleged to have made secret payoffs and set up sham consulting arrangements. A New York lawyer, Evan Greebel, was also arrested early Thursday. He's accused of conspiring with Shkreli in part of the scheme.

Hope he rots in jail.

The U.N. Sent 3 Foreign Women To The U.S. To Assess Gender Equality. They Were Horrified.

The human rights experts concluded that the country falls far behind most others.

A delegation of human rights experts from Poland, the United Kingdom and Costa Rica spent 10 days this month touring the United States so they can prepare a report on the nation's overall treatment of women. The three women, who lead a United Nations working group on discrimination against women, visited Alabama, Texas and Oregon to evaluate a wide range of U.S. policies and attitudes, as well as school, health and prison systems.

The delegates were appalled by the lack of gender equality in America. They found the U.S. to be lagging far behind international human rights standards in a number of areas, including its 23 percent gender pay gap, maternity leave, affordable child care and the treatment of female migrants in detention centers.

The most telling moment of the trip, the women told reporters on Friday, was when they visited an abortion clinic in Alabama and experienced the hostile political climate around women's reproductive rights.

"We were harassed. There were two vigilante men waiting to insult us," said Frances Raday, the delegate from the U.K. The men repeatedly shouted, "You're murdering children!" at them as soon as they neared the clinic, even though Raday said they are clearly past childbearing age.

"It's a kind of terrorism," added Eleonora Zielinska, the delegate from Poland. "To us, it was shocking."

How fucked up is this: Corker Failed To Disclose Millions In Assets And Income

Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) didn't file millions of dollars worth of investments and profits he received since coming to the Senate in 2007, according to a report in the The Wall Street Journal Sunday.

According to the Journal, Corker filed amendments to his financial disclosure forms late Friday after the paper had previously inquired about several inconsistencies in Corker's finances.

Senators may engage in outside business activities and investments, but under Senate rules they must disclose their assets and incomes. Corker is a high-ranking Republican on the Senate's banking committee.

The Journal reported that the new filings show Corker made $2 million in hedge fund profits as well as millions more through his commercial real estate business.

In a statement Friday, Corker told the Wall Street Journal that he regretted any accounting errors.

“I am extremely disappointed in the filing errors that were made in earlier financial disclosure reports," Corker told the Journal. “After completing a full, third-party review, we have corrected this oversight."

Now if he had taken a picture of his dick, he would have been forced to resign, but commit a criminal act? NOTHING!

Ohio Secretary Of State Says Trump Can't Launch Third-Party Run

Business mogul Donald Trump has stood on the debate stage for the Republican Party in Ohio, and he has filed to run in the state's primary. In Secretary of State Jon Husted's office, that is enough to disqualify Trump from running as a third-party candidate, according to a Monday report from Cleveland.com.

Trump has threatened the Republican Party countless times that if they don't treat him fairly, he is going to launch an independent campaign. Now, a spokesman for the secretary of state told Cleveland.com that it won't be an option for Trump in Ohio.

According to Husted's spokesman, a candidate can only run as a third-party candidate in Ohio if they "disaffiliate" from another party in "good faith." The spokesman says that Trump is too far entangled in the GOP primary to back out as a Republican now.

"Since Donald Trump has filed a declaration of candidacy with our office as a Republican, has filed with Federal Election Commission as a Republican candidate, and voluntarily took part in the Republican presidential debates, the first of which was held in Ohio, there is no way for Mr. Trump to disaffiliate from the Republican Party 'in good faith' during this election cycle," Husted spokesman Joshua Eck told the Plain Dealer.

If Trump really were ineligible to run as a third-party candidate in the key swing state of Ohio, it would undercut his leverage with the GOP at large and seriously undermine his ability to launch a credible third-party campaign.

Dow Chemical and DuPont Set Merger and Plans to Split

Over the last week, a hundred or so people crammed into a law firm’s offices high in the General Motors Building on Fifth Avenue, drafting plans to merge Dow Chemical and DuPont.

Yet all the work of those bankers and lawyers in combining two industrial titans, with a shared history of more than three centuries, will ultimately go toward a much bigger goal: breaking up the newly united chemical company.

As Dow and DuPont formally announced their merger, the two companies made clear that they intend to separate into three companies, a path expected to be littered with complex deals, thousands of job cuts and months of government scrutiny.

It is a path that DuPont’s chief executive of two months, Edward D. Breen, has trod before, having previously broken up Tyco into three pieces. And it is the culmination of the dream of his counterpart at Dow, Andrew Liveris, who has long sought a huge deal to strengthen his own company.

What I don't understand is how this crap is even legal, that put two companies together, then split them apart in the meanwhile, thousands of people lose their jobs. I just went through a company split of where the company had spent the last dozen years putting companies together. They use the same bullshit reasons to split them as they did putting them together. But either way, people lose jobs so that the stock price will go up.
