Florida governor: 2 coronavirus cases 'presumptive positive' in the Tampa Bay area

Source: 10 news

On Sunday night, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said it wouldn’t be a matter of “if” but rather “when” the Sunshine State began seeing COVID-19 cases.

Shortly thereafter, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced two cases of the novel virus had been presumptive positive in the Tampa Bay area.

A March 1 letter appearing to be from Doctors Hospital said its patient was admitted in late February and is still there. When medical staff realized the patient might have coronavirus, the hospital activated COVID-19 protocols and identified everyone who had come in contact with the individual.

Seems like it will all over the country by the end of March...

I honestly wonder who pays for this nonsense....

...only a few miles from my home.

Trump-themed Conservative Grounds coffee shop has opened in Largo

LARGO — Conservative Grounds coffee shop co-owner Cliff Gephart was getting pretty good at this.

He held a customer’s iPhone high and horizontal as he took a picture of a man in a red “Make America Great Again” hat giving two thumbs up from behind the desk in the “oval office," a back corner painstakingly decorated to look like the president’s work space.

Conservative Grounds, a new conservative-themed coffee shop at 13344 66th St. N in Largo held its soft opening on Saturday. The shop is at the end of a strip mall of diverse businesses including LGBTQ bar Quench, Jionjuku aikido dojo, Dharma Kava Lounge and Cosmos Cafe breakfast restaurant. The space had previously been the Atlantis Gentleman’s Club and more recently a hookah lounge.

The other principal owner, John Tatum, 57, owner of Tatum’s Bait Tackle & Grocery in St. Petersburg, said it had taken nearly six months to get the space ready. Gephart, a two-time candidate for St. Petersburg City Council owns Taco Cartel, a “taco sausage” company founded to “get around the stringent laws” that prohibit street taco carts but allow hot dog carts. His previous ventures included Rhino Film Studio and a 24-hour internet radio station.

I just can't help but think that outside money funded this mess. Regardless, I also wonder how they got the newspaper to do a write up about it. As Obi-Wan said, "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Bernie Sanders Launches GoFundMe After Tour Van Stolen Outside Debate

https://thehardtimes.net/news/bernie-sanders-launches-gofundme-after-tour-van-stolen-outside-debate/?fbclid=IwAR1M0aq_vmIvMUIw_q2T7L6h4XwxKq9Z4f3MA7z2dNqG-uYVv-wLrcVj4ZA

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders had his Ford Econoline tour van stolen from outside the Democratic debate earlier night, sources close to the presidential hopeful confirmed.

“Let me be clear: it’s not just the van I lost. I also lost my acoustic guitar, laptop, all my merchandise, and a binder that outlines my entire fiscal plan as well as some sick lyrics,” said an emotional Sanders standing on the street corner alternating his gaze in each direction. “But I don’t blame the criminal that did this, poverty is what drives crime and if the government had tried to help the lower class with jobs and education then I wouldn’t have lost all my damn CDs.”

Sanders is not the first politician to face a major setback on the campaign trail. Dennis Kucinich famously had a delay at the screen printing factory which lead to an entire presidential tour with no merchandise, which many experts believe lost him the election.

“Senator Sanders will certainly recover from this, it is just a small bump in the road,” said political strategist Kerry Mcgough. “But since he had been sleeping in the van while on his campaign tour he suddenly needs a place to crash every night, so until he gets a new van he will be sleeping on the futon in my living room. I know my wife is going to be pissed.”

Key Florida Elections Office Endured Cyberattack Ahead of 2016 Election

The elections office of Florida's third-most populous county was breached by a crippling cyberattack in the weeks leading up to the 2016 election, NPR confirmed on Thursday.

The attack on Palm Beach County came to light during a Palm Beach Post editorial board interview with county elections supervisor Wendy Sartory Link. "Have we been hacked in Palm Beach County? Yeah, we have," Link told the paper.

Longtime IT manager Jeffrey Darter was fired in November of last year after he was arrested on child pornography charges. His acting replacement, Ed Sacerio, mentioned the hack to Link. Sacario told The Post that Darter dealt with the issue himself so he didn't know many details, but that he didn't think it affected voting information or election results.

Basically...no one knows who actually wins elections in Florida....

Morning Joe is having a meltdown...

...about MF45 threatening a black journalist?

On edit, it appears that Snoop Dog threatened the Gayle King, but there was also a story about tRump and a tweet (apparently about Bloomberg).

Joe lost it on air and went off on a rant. Sorry about the confusion.

Originally my favorite was Harris, but today my wife answered a pollster...

...and I was surprised to hear her answers. We are career educators. The wife retires this spring after 41 years of teaching. I expected her to name Warren or Biden as her pick.

She told the pollster,
"I've had it with losing - so even though I love the Democratic field I will vote for Bloomberg in the primary."
The pollster ask her about the different positions of the candidates...and she said,
"I'll vote for my dog if they will get rid of Trump."

Wow! I was surprised. We have not even discussed Bloomberg, but we've talked a lot about Warren, Biden, Klobuchar, and Buttigieg. There are Bloomberg commercials on TV here daily. Sanders is well-known, and Yang is unknown here, but I wonder how many really are beginning to think that Bloomberg is a winner?

At any rate, I also wonder if the majority of voters who simply don't vote will come out for this election. Will TV and FB commercials get them off the couch? My wife thinks like Star Wars..."you're our only hope"! In the face of the rallies, the MF45 coup, and McTurtle's hold on the Senate, she has a point. I don't actually know, but maybe Bloomberg would have cross appeal in Florida.

I looked it up. Bloomberg has more than 60 billion. He can outspend the repubs. Our primary ballots are mail-in. We will hold them as long as possible to see what happens (and who drops out) before posting them.

I have some hearts left, so I'll give out hearts to responses on whether Bloomberg can actually win in your home state. Not national polls, but how does Bloomberg come across in your neck of the woods?

Otter attacks girl, dog in Lakeland home

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A Lakeland family will always remember the morning an otter attacked.

“I think life is full of surprises and you should just be ready for whatever,” said Casina Ewert, who lives off Pipkin Road in south Lakeland.

Just before dawn Tuesday morning, her 17-year old daughter Gwyn let out their French Bulldog, Scooter. Gwyn panicked when she heard fighting on the back porch.

“I snatched it by the tail,” said Casina Ewert. “And then I held it up like a prize. And the otter’s going crazy. It was like clawing at me and grabbing on to the backs of the furniture in my house.”

Residents are told to be on HIGH ALERT for the otter!
