Brian May would appreciate this!

He was an astrophysicist before he became the best guitarist in Queen. (He's very involved in animal rights now - he's just an all-round cool person.)

Just texted link to this video to my son (JHU high-energy physics). His reply:
"Gravity is almost definitely something string like. A paper showed in 2+1 dimensions that gravity must be string-like at high energies/short distances."
And I haven't a clue what that means or how it relates to the video.

His photography and courage are so moving.

60 minutes was exceptional tonight.

Please catch it if you can, especially the section on photographer James Nachtwey. It brought tears.

At 75, James Nachtwey is still risking his life to document what he calls the “insanity of war.” He walks Anderson Cooper through his career photographing armed conflict across the world

Clever connection.

From Wiki....

Listerine is an American brand of antiseptic mouthwash that is promoted with the slogan "Kills germs that cause bad breath". Named after Joseph Lister, who pioneered antiseptic surgery at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary in Scotland, Listerine was developed in 1879 by Joseph Lawrence, a chemist in St. Louis, Missouri.[1][2]

Btw, Wikipedia can always use donations....and, did ya know, there's a DUer who works for Wiki?

TOTALLY AGREE!! Question: do you bring this up with folks...

In your everyday life?
I try but there's always resistance.

There are still way too many climate change deniers.

More accurately, global warming deniers. Some yrs ago, they existed here on DU.

The media needs to give the nation a crash course in climate change...it should even be taught in schools. Imagine how the red states would have their temper tantrums over complying with anything like that. Moreover, imagine asking people to limit their number of children, as they do in China.

Global Warming is the greatest existential problem and we humans are the cause.

"Our planet is in great, great distress."

Indeed!!

And we were WARNED.

And it's going to become worse.

MUCH WORSE.
