Yes, but....

Believers don't know that.

My brother, a hardcore atheist like myself, was with my mother the last hrs of her life and before she took her last sleep in which she died, he asked her if she was scared. She gave him an emphatic "NO! Why would I be scared?"

She was so dogmatically sure she was going to gawd!! In some small way, I envy such ignorant, stupid dogma. But I never respect it!! Thinking: "There's more to come and I'm not ending" is comforting.

Unsurprisingly, she was an ignorant repub too who also thought the sun went around the earth, that she was smart because she made a lot of money, and that everyone loved her. She never doubted her beliefs and was content & happy most of her life. Although, she always worked very hard, she reasoned like a spoiled child.
Narcissistic? Oh, hell yes.

Sometimes, "ignorance is bliss."

P S. You can imagine how she & I got along. And the therapy I've been through.

May they stay safe.

My son's best friend in NYC is from Ukraine. She cannot even talk about what's happening because she breaks into tears.

So glad the world is showing support for Ukraine which must be shocking for Fox viewers/tRump supporters, so fuck those idiots.

Absolutely!

I know too many and they are purposely ignorant and self-deceiving as hell, all the while being basically good-hearted people to those around them.
Seems a contradiction, but it's true.
Not all of them, mind you, but many.

Yet too many are full of hatred and are looking for any way to express their misplaced anger. This anger of their has been channeled by right-wing hate radio and Faux Lies, of course.

Couldn't get thru the Colbert/Gervais exchange.

Colbert is such an idiot who doesn't know a damn thing about science. Colbert knows not he knows not.

Amen!

When someone with Neal Katyal's status is criticizing Garland, we DUers also have the right to do so.

So, to those posters telling us to shut up....

...😡😡

Am convinced many of these researchers have damaged anterior insular cortex, the part of the brain responsible for empathy.

There's should constant graphic exposure of their inhumanity to these poor dogs.

Thanks, Jilly, for all you do.

Spotify employees are horrified...

...that management hasn't yet terminated Rogan's contact.

Spotify will... when they lose enough $ubscribers.

Does he also think that long Covid...

Is an autoimmune disease?

Personal history of my problem, for what it's worth:
Back in the '70's, my husband and I had the most severe flu that we had ever had; so bad in fact, that my mother drove 80 miles to bring us home with her. We were very sick for at least 3 wks; after that, recovery was very gradual, up to a point.

We continued having low-grade temps and I had terrible night sweats. We sought medical help from many experts, even at a medical school, yet they all were puzzled. One Doc told us that it looked like malaria to him.

My hubby finally recovered after some months but I didn't. The low-grade temps and terrible night sweats continued with me off and on for decades but intensified after the birth of my son when I was very stressed. I had to sleep on bath towels to keep from soaking the bed every night. Sadly, I've never recovered the stamina I used to have.

The famous CFS/ME expert Dr. Paul Cheney, whom I saw after the birth of my son, told me to stop nursing. Fact was that I simply stayed too exhausted to prepare bottles of milk, so I continued to nurse.

(Sadly, Dr Cheney died last year. It was from his obituary that I learned not only was he an internist, he also had a PhD in physics.)

The worst was being accused by uninformed, dumb people of having a psychosomatic disorder, as if elevated temperatures and horribly intense night sweats were psychosomatic.

If it is an autoimmune disease, my immune has been horribly dysfunctional and has badly affected my life. It's strange that my husband's illness would parallel mine but only for some months, not yrs.

Thanks for reading.
