kpete's JournalMovement Conservatives can't handle the truth.
In a bit of serendipity later, up popped Heather Cox Richardson's piece in Salon featuring a photo of Jack Nicholson from "A Few Good Men," about how Movement Conservatives can't handle the truth.
By the George W. Bush administration, Richardson concludes:
Buckleys intellectual stand had won. Facts and argument had given way to an ideology premised on Christianity and the idea of economic individualism. As Movement Conservatives took over the Republican Party, that ideology worked its way deep into our political system. It has given us, for example, a senator claiming words he spoke on the Senate floor were not intended to be a factual statement. It has given us dynamic scoring, a rule changing the way the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the economic impact of tax cuts, to reinforce the idea that cuts fuel economic growth despite the visibly disastrous effects of recent tax cuts on states such as Kansas. And it has given us attempts in Oklahoma, Texas, North Carolina and Colorado to discard the A.P. U.S. History framework and dictate that students learn instead the Movement Conservatives skewed version of the nations history. Politicians have always spun information to advance their own policies. The practice infuriates partisans but it reflects the Enlightenment idea of progress through reasoned argument. Movement Conservatives insistence on their own version of reality, in defiance of facts, is something different altogether.

Some of us are old enough to have seen Superman on black-and-white TV defending truth, justice, and the American Way. That was then. The saddest part of pass-it-on propaganda and AFP disinformation is that the people who raised us at the height of the Cold War warned us that commies would use propaganda and disinformation to destroy America from within. Now, many of those same Real Americans consider trafficking in propaganda and disinformation good, clean fun for the whole family. They know it's wrong and they don't care.

200 Veterans of the Israeli Security Services Accuse Netanyahu Of Being A "Danger" To Israel
In an unprecedented move, 200 veterans of the Israeli security services accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday of being a danger to Israel.
The new group, called Commanders for Israels Security, warned that Netanyahu was doing irreparable harm to the countrys relationship with Washington, just two days before he is due to address the US Congress.

The group comprises retired officers and those serving in the reserves, all of whom held a rank equivalent to general. Many are household names.
This is a very powerful and distinguished group of former commanders, who are extremely worried about where Netanyahu is taking Israel right now, he said.
It is clear they are speaking not only for themselves but also on behalf of many active commanders who are not allowed to speak their mind but share this groups views.

Netanyahu's Minions Place Hideous Ad in NYT
From The Jerusalem Post:
A wall-to-wall array of Jewish groups condemned an ad accusing National Security Adviser Susan Rice of turning a blind eye to genocide.
Susan Rice has a blind spot: Genocide, said the ad appearing in Saturdays New York Times, touting a talk on Iran this week in Washington hosted by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, the New Jersey-based author and pro-Israel advocate.
As soon as the Sabbath ended, Jewish groups rushed to condemn the ad. The American Jewish Committee called it revolting, the Anti-Defamation League called it spurious and perverse, the Jewish Federations of North America called it outrageous and Josh Block, the president of The Israel Project, said it was entirely inappropriate.

CNN's Reliable Sources Airs New Audio Disproving O'Reilly's JFK Story (NO WAY HE WAS THERE)
CNN has obtained the original tapes from the congressional investigator's widow, and the audio is significantly cleaner and easier to hear. O'Reilly can clearly be heard asking the congressional investigator where the suicide took place, if a gun was used, and saying "I'm coming down there tomorrow. I'm coming to Florida ... I'm going to get in there tomorrow."

CNN's Reliable Sources aired a new, clearer version of audio that further disproves Bill O'Reilly's claim that he personally "heard" the shotgun blast that killed a figure in the investigation into President John F. Kennedy's assassination.
O'Reilly has repeatedly claimed in his books and on Fox News that while he was reporting for a Dallas television station in 1977, he was directly outside at the exact moment that George de Mohrenschildt -- an associate of Lee Harvey Oswald -- shot himself in a Florida home. O'Reilly has offered no evidence to confirm this claim, and the police report filed at the time makes no mention of him.
Media Matters further reported that multiple former colleagues and journalists in Florida at the time have disputed O'Reilly's story that he "heard the shotgun blast that marked the suicide."
Adding to the mounting evidence against O'Reilly's tale are tape recordings of a phone conversation between O'Reilly and a congressional investigator who was interviewing de Mohrenschildt before his death. On the tapes, O'Reilly can be heard asking the congressional reporter about the details of the suicide, and adding that he is not yet in Florida -- a claim that is at odds with O'Reilly's statements that he was near the home where de Mohrenschildt killed himself.

Muslim girl sings ‘Star Spangled Banner’ as Oklahoma anti-Islamic protesters scream insults
Rally by hundreds of American Muslims at the Oklahoma Capitol on Friday to promote religious tolerance was interrupted by anti-Islamic protesters holding signs proclaiming the United States a Christian nation.
While an American Muslim girl sang the Star Spangled Banner inside the statehouse in Oklahoma City, about two dozen anti-Islamic protesters outside hurled insults at the group, mostly students, as they visited the Capitol to speak with lawmakers. There were no reports of violence.
If they had a sword, theyd cut your head off, protesters shouted. Some carried signs saying Islam equals Death.
Anti-Islamic protesters also disrupted a similar rally about a month ago in Texas.
VIDEO is quite revealing & amazing at the same time:
