"It was a horrible idea---as bad as sticking your face in a blender"

“[Joe] Scarborough was in disbelief over Bush’s repeated blunders this week in trying to answer whether he would have invaded Iraq like his brother George W. Bush, knowing what he knows now about the results of the war.

The MSNBC host, who supported the war in 2003, asked contributor and Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin to pose the Iraq question to him.

“No, it was a horrible idea, as bad an idea as sticking your face in a blender, what’s your next question?” Scarborough said, to laughter from the panel.

Vatican to Recognize Palestinian State in New Treaty

Source: New York times

JERUSALEM — The Vatican announced Wednesday that it would soon sign a treaty that includes recognition of the “state of Palestine,” lending significant symbolic weight to an intensifying Palestinian push for international support for sovereignty that bypasses the paralyzed negotiations with Israel.

Palestinian leaders celebrated the Holy See’s endorsement as particularly important, given the international stature of Pope Francis. For Israelis, it was an emotional blow, since Francis has deep relationships with Jews dating back decades, and Christians are critical backers of their enterprise.

“The Vatican is not just a state. The Vatican represents hundreds of millions of Christians worldwide, including Palestinians, and has vast moral significance,” said Husam Zomlot, a senior Palestinian foreign-affairs official.

A Conversation About Growing Up Black

In this Op-Doc video, “A Conversation about Growing Up Black,”we ask African-American boys and young men to tell us candidly about the daily challenges they face because of these realities. They speak openly about what it means to be a young black man in a racially charged world and explain how they feel when their parents try to shelter and prepare them for a world that is too often unfair and biased.

Obama’s Texas Invasion Plans Revealed

Greg Carey https://twitter.com/Greg_Carey/status/595577492414529537 made this image and shared it on Twitter,.....There is actually serious irony to several of the arrows. Climate scientists invading from Alabama? Evolutionists from Kansas? I suppose the anti-gay legislation in Arizona might motivate gays to begin an exodus – but why would they head for Texas rather than California?

Perhaps something similar could be said of all these groups – people who accept mainstream science might have good reason Alabama and Kansas. In which case, perhaps Texas is going to be confronting less of an invasion and more of a refugee crisis.

I just hope they have room for all of them in the tunnel system under their Wal-Marts…

Oh Dear Me: Jeb Says George Is His Most Influential Adviser

Jeb Says George Is His Most Influential Adviser

May 7, 2015

“When asked this week at an exclusive Manhattan gathering about who advises him on U.S.-Israel policy, Jeb Bush surprised many of the 50-plus attendees by naming his brother, former president George W. Bush, as his most influential counselor,” the Washington Post reports.

Said Bush: “If you want to know who I listen to for advice, it’s him.”

The remark came as part of an answer to a question about Bush’s political advisers and their policy views. Bush was pressed for details about who he surrounds himself with and consults as he thinks through his positions, guests said.
