Jon Stewart: "Perry’s gonna make a bit of a creepy inmate-Little bit of Orange Is The New Blecch.”

“Ah, the priceless ‘rebrand,’” Stewart said. “From ‘forgetful doof’ to ‘possible felon.’ The same trick that worked when, after the BP Gulf oil spill, they renamed themselves ‘Amalgamated asbestos and c*ck punch, incorporated.’”

While the thought of Perry’s indictment made Stewart worry that it could derail his presidential prospects for 2016 — “You can’t just give this to me and take it away,” he protested — he eventually reasoned that there were both Republicans and Democrats supporting it, because it would ensure that Perry would “ultimately lose in an entertaining fashion.”

Instead of being charged with being, as Stewart said, “criminally handsome” in his mugshot, Perry is accused of coercion of a public servant and abuse of public capacity for threatening to veto funding for the state public integrity unit, based out of Travis County.

“Not to mention a misdemeanor for stealing MSNBC’s glasses,” Stewart observed. “They need to see, Rick.”

Bill Maher supports ALS, but wants Cheney to take the ‘douse yourself in gasoline challenge’

“Hi, Bill Maher, ready to take the Ice Bucket Challenge to knock off ALS,” the comedian explains in a Funny or Die video before pouring a bucket of water on himself.

“And having done so, I like to pass the challenge along now to Mr. Kirk Douglas — not Kirk Douglas — Dick Cheney!” he adds. “But let’s be honest, folks, ALS is a bad disease, but there are diseases that kill more. Malaria has killed more people than all the wars, famines and natural disasters in history. It demands an even greater response.”

“This is a gallon of gasoline, and I challenge other people to take the ‘set yourself on fire challenge’ to wipeout malaria in our lifetime.”

After lighting himself and bursting into virtual flames, Maher again encourages people to take the “douse yourself in gasoline challenge.”

“And challenge others to do it too! I challenge Dick Cheney!”

What’s the harm of bombing them at least for a few weeks and seeing what happens?

"Someone said, 'we can't just bomb,'" (Kristol) said, speaking about an ABC panel he was on. "You know, why don't we just (bomb?) We know where ISIS is. What’s the harm of bombing them at least for a few weeks and seeing what happens? I don’t think there’s much in the way of unanticipated side effects that are going to be bad there. We could kill a lot of very bad guys!"

How not to react when your child tells you that he's gay

'You have made a choice, independent of what you've told your daddy,' Daniel's mother is heard saying.

'You can deny it all you want to but I believe in the word of God. And God creates nobody that way, it is a path that you have chosen.'

Even though Daniel tells his mother he cannot change his sexuality, and that is scientific proof, basic biology, she won't listen.

'Since you have chosen that path, we will not support you any longer. You will need to move out and find wherever you can to live and do you want to. I will not let people believe I condone what you do.'

James Foley Was Among 1 of 4 Prisoners Who Were Waterboarded By ISIS (Using CIA Techniques)

At least four hostages held in Syria by the Islamic State, including an American journalist who was recently executed by the group, were waterboarded in the early part of their captivity, according to people familiar with the treatment of the kidnapped Westerners.

James Foley was among the four who were waterboarded several times by Islamic State militants who appeared to model the technique on the CIA’s use of waterboarding to interrogate suspected terrorists after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

It turns out that deploying a militarized police response to protesters is expensive.

The state has budgeted $3.455 million this year to pay expenses that any state agency incurred during an emergency declared by the governor, in addition to $4 million for emergency duties of the Missouri National Guard.

St. Louis County so far has spent about $1 million in police overtime responding to Ferguson, Chief Operating Officer Garry Earls said. That amount includes about $100,000 a day for the first nine days after the shooting.

“All this workforce out there had to be fed,” he said. “We used up all of our tear gas and pepper spray.”

HOW SAD: Women Of Fox Have No Problem With Catcalls: ‘Let Men Be Men’

The women of Fox's Outnumbered discussed the controversial issue of catcalling during Thursday's show and seemed to reach the consensus that, in the words of Kimberly Guilfoyle, "it's nice to get compliments."

.......

Kimberly Guilfoyle admitted that it can be awkward when her young son is there, but dismissively added that he's "used to it by now." With that caveat out of the way, she was free to share her enthusiasm for "compliments" of this ilk.

"Well, listen, I mean let men be men. God bless 'em. I love 'em. I just love 'em. … You know look men are gonna be that way. What can you do?"

"One Lucky Guy" Arthur Aidala then shared his tactic for letting women on the street know they've earned his approval. He stood and demonstrated a slow clap, which he said was 90% successful at garnering a smile.

Hillary Clinton Re: Michael Brown "We can't ignore the inequities that persist in our justice system

"Watching the recent funeral for Michael Brown, as a mother, as a human being, my heart just broke for his family," she said at a conference hosted by Nextenta, a software company, in San Francisco. "Because losing a child is every parent's greatest fear and an unimaginable loss. But I also grieve for that community and for many like it across our country."
snip

"We can't ignore the inequities that persist in our justice system that undermine our most deeply held values of fairness and equality," she said. "Imagine what we would feel and what we would do if white drivers were three times as likely to be searched by police during a traffic stop as black drivers instead of the other way around."

"That is the reality in the lives of so many of our fellow Americans and so many of the communities in which they live."

snip

"I applaud President Obama for sending the attorney general to Ferguson and demanding a thorough and speedy investigation," Clinton said, "to find out what happened, to see that justice is done, to help this community begin healing itself."

"This is what happens when the bonds of trust and respect that hold any community together fray," she said. "Nobody wants to see our streets look like a war zone, not in America. We are better than that."
