ObamNEYcare: how Romney’s and Obama’s health plans match up (basically, the same F*&KING bill)

For once, focus your bloodlust on Republicans --instead of the DLC/Firebaggers/ANYONE WITHOUT AN (R)

You Just keep on Pushing My Love Over the Borderline
By John Cole June 29th, 2012

The ACA is now the law of the land, it was upheld, and regardless of whether you wanted single payer or the mandate to buy private insurance, conservatives lost and will never repeal this.

......................Obama wants to move on and talk about jobs and the economy, but for those of us in the rank and file, this decision is an unlimited ammo dump. Keep pressing the advantage, keep talking about the benefits that consumers will experience under the law, keep mocking the “socialism” and “unconstitutional” claims, and keep moving forward. Remember, this is easy turf. A couple years ago Republicans were arguing that crushing a child’s testicles was constitutional. Now they want to argue that denying your child health care when he has leukemia is constitutional. Go in for the fucking kill, liberals

For once in your god damned lives, put aside your fucking stupid beliefs about purity and how the public option was the bestest thing since sliced bread, accept the massive, game-changing victory you got today, and use it as a god damned bludgeon against the troglodytes whose health care plans are modeled after Ebeneezer Scrooge. For once, focus your bloodlust on Republicans instead of the DLC/Firebaggers/ANYONE WITHOUT AN (R) AFTER THEIR NAME. I’m begging you.

For once in your lives turn a win into a win, just like the Republicans were able to do when I was a wingnut (and half the time they were able to turn a loss into a win). Don’t argue amongst yourselves about what would have been better- smash the Republicans around the head and neck with the cudgel you have been given. We’re not debating which Democratic plan would have been better, we’re debating the reality of what we have now versus the 18th century version of what Republicans would replace it with.

Again, as a former wingnut and lifelong Republican until 2006 or 2007, I am fucking begging- treat a win like a win and use it to your advantage. The most depressing thing about becoming a Democrat after being a Republican for so many years is just watching Democrats shit the bed whenever they win. Press the fucking advantage.

(no more purity for me)

Mitt Romney: A person should “get as much education as they can afford”

Mitt Romney: A person should “get as much education as they can afford”
Posted on July 1, 2012

“I want to make sure that we keep America a place of opportunity, where everyone has a fair shot. They get as much education as they can afford…”

— Mitt Romney on Wednesday, advocating for a class-based society of higher education, based on the wealth a person was born into as opposed to an individual’s talent and intelligence.

New America: The math genius who’s poor shouldn’t go to college, but should spend his/her life shining the shoes of people like Romney’s sons (or Mitt and Marie Antoinette themselves) who are born with trust funds and inheritances. Because, let’s be honest, who among us couldn’t “afford college” without financial help from programs or services like student loans, scholarships, and grants? Not all of us can borrow money for college from our parents.

And what a great way to enslave entire generations into a minimum wage existence — to the great advantage of corporations and the one percent.

Murdoch hits Romney: He needs a new team

Rupert Murdoch, who last weekend took a Twitter shot at Mitt Romney over his lack of a strong stand on immigration after President Obama's executive action involving some deportations, takes to his feed again for a harder hit:

"Met Romney last week. Tough O Chicago pros will be hard to beat unless he drops old friends from team and hires some real pros. Doubtful," was the tweet from @rupertmurdoch about an hour ago.

Al Franken: GOP Wants To Use ‘Wayback Machine’ On Healthcare

Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) urged Democrats in a fundraising e-mail not to let their guard down after the Supreme Court’s health care ruling, likening Republican’s efforts to dismantle the law to the “Wayback Machine,” an internet time capsule that archives the web over time.

“I know you’re sick of getting fundraising emails this month,” Franken wrote on behalf of the DSCC. “Sorry. But, frankly, I’d rather annoy you than watch the far right unleash their Wayback Machine and erase health care reform and everything else we’ve fought to do.”

Romney: My Individual Mandate Was Also A Tax Increase!

Citing Thursday’s landmark Supreme Court ruling upholding the ACA on taxing power grounds, Republicans are attacking Democrats for having surreptitiously raised taxes.

But if that’s true of Democrats, it’s also true of Romney.

“We established incentives for those who were uninsured to buy insurance,” Romney wrote in a 2009 USA Today op-ed. “Using tax penalties, as we did … encourages ‘free riders’ to take responsibility for themselves rather than pass their medical costs on to others.”

Romney has a long public record of supporting his individual mandate — a record he’d love to bury. But this is a rare example of him boasting that the mandate amounts to the same tax he and other Republicans are now attacking Obama for having adopted in the ACA.

MD Gov-re GOP: “The only health care mandate they can embrace are transvaginal probes for women”

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) accused Republicans of hypocrisy for pairing protests against a health care mandate with demands for increasingly invasive restrictions on women’s health.

“The only health care mandate they can embrace are transvaginal probes for women,” O’Malley said Friday during a press call.
