For new people: we have a Mental Health Support group on DU

https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1151

Everyone is welcome. A few things you really need to know upfront: 1) We are not equipped to deal with emergencies. You need to call your provider or 911 or just go to the nearest hospital for those; 2) Since it's a support group for all Mental Health needs, it's highly recommended you exercise some tact and diplomacy in what you post. I think our members would prefer to read something supportive, rather than something critical (although it might be true).

Last thing is an obvious point: this is the internet, and everything you post is publicly available. Be aware of that. Best wishes to all with mental health needs.

urology referral for prostate

The prostate thread made me think of this. BTW, best wishes to you, GoneOffShore!

My doctor is extremely thorough, and we've known for years that I have an enlarged prostate. He hasn't been too worried about it, since I guess it's fairly common in men my age (59). However, several months ago, he felt something and sent me for a prostate ultrasound.

The ultrasound came back ok, although it noted a few things (nodularity? I'm forgetting precise phrase). My doc's manual examination also concerned him a bit. He gave me the option 6 months ago of a urologist referral, and I declined. This visit a few days ago, I accepted. My PSA is normal. Like I said, my doc is extremely thorough and cautious, and he's wonderful.

Guys, have you been through this too ? Feedback, please. Thanks.

Steve

Former Republican member of congress: 'Trump is unhinged. We are waiting to get tax bill through before impeachment'

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-impeachment-latest-robert-reich-former-republican-senator-unhinged-tax-bill-us-a7996341.html

Republicans are waiting to pass their tax-reform bill before they move to impeach Donald Trump, a former Republican member of Congress reportedly told a former US labour secretary.

In a Facebook post, Robert Reich said the former senator, an old friend of his, told him Republicans are "just praying Trump doesn't do something really, really stupid before the tax bill."

Speaking over the phone, Mr Reich said he asked his friend whether other Republican senators were preparing to follow Senator Bob Corker and "call it quits with Trump".

His source told him: "Others are thinking about doing what Bob did. Sounding the alarm. They think Trump’s nuts. Unfit. Dangerous."

You know, this simultaneously terrifies me and infuriates me....

Hypothetical scenario:

3 AM, Trump's not sleeping, gets pissed off at Kim Jong-un for godknowswhy, calls up the Pentagon/wherever you call, and orders a nuclear strike on Pyongyang. No one around to tackle him, so to speak. Who's going to deny the CiC the nuclear launch ?

Let's say it all goes down, launch is done, Pyongyang is incinerated, and China gets involved, in a nuclear way.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE ALL THESE REPUBLICANS GOING TO SAY ? "Oh um don't blame me"

Equifax website hacked again, this time to redirect to fake Flash update

https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/10/equifax-website-hacked-again-this-time-to-redirect-to-fake-flash-update/

If Equifax had any luck, it would be bad luck. They need to go out of business, and be replaced by an ETHICAL and COMPETENT company.

In May credit reporting service Equifax's website was breached by attackers who eventually made off with Social Security numbers, names, and a dizzying amount of other details for some 145.5 million US consumers. For several hours on Wednesday the site was compromised again, this time to deliver fraudulent Adobe Flash updates, which when clicked, infected visitors' computers with adware that was detected by only three of 65 antivirus providers.

Randy Abrams, an independent security analyst by day, happened to visit the site Wednesday evening to contest what he said was false information he had just found on his credit report. Eventually, his browser opened up a page on the domain hxxp:centerbluray.info that looked like this:

(see above image)

He was understandably incredulous. The site that previously gave up personal data for virtually every US person with a credit history was once again under the control of attackers, this time trying to trick Equifax visitors into installing crapware Symantec calls Adware.Eorezo. Knowing a thing or two about drive-by campaigns, Abrams figured the chances were slim he'd see the download on follow-on visits. To fly under the radar, attackers frequently serve the downloads to only a select number of visitors, and then only once.

Abrams tried anyway, and to his amazement, he encountered the bogus Flash download links on at least three subsequent visits. The picture above this post is the higher-resolution screenshot he captured during one visit. He also provided the video below. It shows an Equifax page redirecting the browser to at least four domains before finally opening the Flash download at the same centerbluray.info page.

When did you first get cable television (if you ever got it) ?

I think we got it in Orlando about 1973 ? All the local stations and maybe....10 others ? You had a box connected to a remote box with a slide on it to select your channel. There was a cable from the remote to the TV. The wireless remotes were not out yet.

It was a huge deal back then. I'll probably remember more as others post their memories.

Harvey Weinstein Suicide Threat Prompts Police Response

fwiw, it is TMZ.

http://www.tmz.com/2017/10/11/harvey-weinstein-suicide-threat-police/

10/11/2017 1:49 PM PDT

Harvey Weinstein's daughter called 911 to say her dad was suicidal Wednesday morning, and police responded ... TMZ has learned.

According to law enforcement, Weinstein was at his 22-year-old daughter Remy's place when their argument spilled out onto the street. We're told Harvey yelled to her, "You're making it worse" ... and then flagged down a random vehicle driving past, begging for a ride.

We're told Remy convinced her father to go back in the house, and shortly thereafter -- around 10:30 AM -- LAPD and her alarm company showed up.

Law enforcement sources confirm officers responded to a call from Remy, who said her father was "suicidal and depressed." When they arrived ... Harvey had already left the home.
