Reading bad news/tragedy/death gets so draining

I'm sure others can relate to that feeling. I can only bear it for so long, then I have to take a break from the news or DU or both. I see some headlines and my heart drops and I feel drained already.

The world was messed up when I was born, long before I was born, and will be when I die. Such is the world.

3 things Wall St. doesn't want you to know

http://money.cnn.com/2014/12/10/investing/wall-street-not-want-you-to-know

*heavily edited*

1. "Hold" often means "sell"

2. A lot of what we're saying is just noise

3. Half of us (and you) need to be wrong

Slow site performance for last two weeks

It's not my browser, computer, ISP, etc.

I do my best to be patient, but yes, it has been slow on many occasions.

FYI.

THIS IS THE BOG, IT IS A SAFE HAVEN GROUP CREATED BY THE ADMINISTRATORS OF DU. IT IS A PLACE FOR THOSE WHO SUPPORT DEMOCRATS TO CELEBRATE THE 44TH POTUS, BARACK OBAMA, ALONG WITH HIS FAMILY, ACHIEVEMENTS AND POLICIES.

IT EXISTS FOR THOSE WHO SUPPORT THIS PRESIDENT AND EACH OTHER. PLEASE CHECK THE PINNED THREAD FOR THE SOP (STATEMENT OF PURPOSE) OF THIS GROUP. THIS IS NOT A FORUM.

IF YOU CANNOT RESPECT OBAMA, DEMOCRATS, THE SPIRIT AND INTENT OF THIS GROUP, OR THE MEMBERS OF THIS GROUP, PLEASE DO NOT POST HERE.

I am NOT bashing DU. I know they have to run these ads to fund operations and have limited control over them. My point is, talk about dishonest push polling!

I stand with President Obama and the Democratic Party.

Microsoft sticks to vow, leaves XP exposed to ongoing attacks

http://www.computerworld.com/article/2489407/malware-vulnerabilities/microsoft-sticks-to-vow--leaves-xp-exposed-to-ongoing-attacks.html

Hackers are exploiting an Internet Explorer (IE) vulnerability that was left unpatched in Windows XP on Tuesday, Microsoft and outside security experts said.

The bug, identified as CVE-2014-1815, was one of two Microsoft patched with a critical update issued Tuesday for IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9, IE10 and IE11. In the accompanying security bulletin, Microsoft noted that the vulnerability had been both known to hackers and used by them prior to yesterday's update.

"Microsoft is aware of limited attacks that attempt to exploit this vulnerability in Internet Explorer," the bulletin stated.

But because Windows XP exhausted its support privileges last month, users running the aged operating system did not receive the IE security update, as did owners of Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs.

XP users, take heed, please.

1789, let's look back....

Only white males with property could vote, IIRC

Slavery

Women could not vote. I'm not sure about owning property, anyone ?

LGBT rights ? Non-existent.

Native Americans ? Routinely slaughtered.

Jewish people ? Discriminated against.

White supremacy ? In full force.

Feel free to correct me and add to this list.

My point ? We've made huge progress in 225 years (took way too damn long), and hopefully within my lifetime, much more progress.

Right Wing and Republicans lurking, chew on all THAT!

Huge Rainstorm Poised to Ease California's Thirst

http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/comment.html?entrynum=2877

The wettest storm to affect the U.S. West Coast since 2009 is gathering strength over the Pacific Ocean, and promises to bring much-needed drought relief to thirsty California Wednesday through Friday. Rainfall amounts of 3 - 8 inches are expected over most of Northern California, with snowfall amounts of 1 - 3 feet predicted in the Sierra Mountains. As noted by Wunderground weather historian Christopher C. Burt in his Monday post, California Drought Situation Improves, this week’s storm may be the strongest and wettest storm to hit the region since October 2009, when the last major ‘pineapple express’ soaked the state. California is already benefiting from widespread heavy rains that fell November 29th through December 6th, and most of California is now running a seasonal precipitation surplus—the first time they’ve seen such since December 2012.

.....

Please...do what you wish. I think everyone will do what they wish. If they choose to post a pet picture, awesome.

I really don't see the problem. At all. It's a very silly poll. If people don't like it, they will skip it.

Good day.
