He is confident. He is addressing any conceivable concern about the Iran deal.

I'm glad to see him doing this. God knows, the RW and the Republican Party will trot anything out
to defeat this deal.

Hacking Team spyware rootkit: Even a new HARD DRIVE wouldn't get rid of it

Hacking Team RCS spyware came pre-loaded with an UEFI (‬Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) ‪BIOS rootkit to hide itself on infected systems, it has emerged following the recent hacking of the controversial surveillance firm.‬

The stealth infection tactic, which has been revealed through leaked emails arising from last week's hack, meant that the Remote Control System (RCS) agent stayed on compromised machines even if users formatted their drives - or even swapped disks. Although designed primarily for the Insyde BIOS (a popular laptop BIOS) it might also work on AMI BIOS as well, according to security firm Trend Micro.

A PowerPoint from the leaked Hacking Team emails implies that initial infection seems to require physical access to targeted systems. Other techniques may be possible, according to Trend Micro, based on a preliminary analysis of the leaked presentation as well as an examination of a help tool for the users of ‪Hacking Team‬'s BIOS rootkit and other leaked data.

"A Hacking Team slideshow presentation claims that successful infection requires physical access to the target system; however, we can’t rule out the possibility of remote installation," writes Philippe Lin, a senior engineer at Trend Micro. "An example attack scenario would be: The intruder gets access to the target computer, reboots into UEFI shell, dumps the BIOS, installs the BIOS rootkit, re-flashes the BIOS, and then reboots the target system."

Nazism and the Wehrmacht

If you're a WW2 history buff like I am, I recommend that wiki article. Granted, it may not be 100% accurate, but it's interesting reading to be sure. Many facts I had never read before! Like this quote I had never read before:

On August 22, 1939, in a conference between Hitler and all of the Reich's senior military leaders, Hitler stated quite explicitly that the coming war against Poland was to be a "war of extermination" in which Hitler expressed his intention to "...to kill without pity or mercy all men, women and children of the Polish race or language".[46] The British historian Sir John Wheeler-Bennett wrote that whatever doubts the Wehrmacht might still have had about the sort of regime that they were about to go to war for and the kind of people that they would be fighting for in this war, should have been clearly dispelled by Hitler's genocidal comments during the conference of August 22, 1939, and that the claims made after the war that the Wehrmacht simply did not understand the nature of the regime that they fought for, are not believable.[46] Anti-Semitic and anti-Polish attitudes like the views expressed above coloured all the instructions that came to Wehrmacht during the summer of 1939 as part of the preparations for the invasion of Poland.

wanted to confirm or deny something I heard today

A man said today that "a county in Texas" had mandated some type of gun ownership, and the crime rate went down dramatically. I realize I can do a Google search, but I figured you all would know the truth or lack thereof to this.
