As an interested American, I would think and hope so.

****BARACK OBAMA GROUP***** most recent fence jumper and President Obama
I know some at DU regard this as a big joke, but to me, it's not.
I think the Secret Service may want to review security at the White House. From news reports, this latest jumper almost made it to the north portico of the White House.
I say may, since I don't know what else can be done, short of installing a very high outer perimeter fence, drastically increasing personnel inside and outside of the fences, and/or prohibiting pedestrian traffic anywhere near the White House. Security vs. accessibility.
I'm glad the President and his family were safely out of town.
Bad Money Moves
http://www.aarp.org/money/investing/info-2014/5-bad-money-moves.htmlIt's a slideshow (ugh) but seems accurate ? I'll wait for the definitive assessment from our much better educated members.
everyone should inform themselves and vote, however...
when you're a rich white Republican male, usually Congress and the President make policies favorable to you.
When you're a poor, minority Democratic female (to give the other side of the spectrum), the policies are many times not favorable to you.
Many people hate politics, for understandable reasons. Many don't have the time or energy to pursue a thorough understanding. Many don't have the time and/or the money to donate to causes and candidates.
My point is, I can understand why so many don't vote. It won't matter anyway, in their mind. Should everyone get informed and vote ? Yes, of course.
I say all this as a yellow-dog Democrat, who has voted for Democratic candidates 100% of the time since 1976, and who voted and donated twice to President Obama. I think it's undeniable that the system is rigged against the poor, even the middle class many times, and minorities.
YMMV.

binge-watched the entire PBS series "The Roosevelts"...
1- I learned a great deal, of course.
2- I loved the stills and movies from back then.
3- I ended up liking TR less (not going into details here since this is the lounge).
4- FDR was a great leader, home life not so much.
5- Eleanor Roosevelt was an extraordinary person with an extraordinary heart. I'm glad the end of her life (1945-1962) was generally happy.
Anyone else binge watch it on the PBS website ?
