New York City Chick-fil-A lovers can eat the controversial fried chicken with the sun on their face, with a new five-floor location with a rooftop terrace — the largest ever — now open in the Financial District.
Starting today, the 12,000-square-foot franchise space, at 144 Fulton St. between Nassau Street and Broadway, opens up to the public for its roster of beloved fried chicken sandwiches. The five-level location has 140 seats, two kitchens, a semi-private dining area, and of course that rooftop terrace with a view of the World Trade tower.
When this location was first announced, press materials announced that the design was built to “give a subtle impression of the Twin Towers” as an homage to the site of 9/11. That language has now been scrubbed, and instead the design purportedly has no specific inspiration.
Chick-fil-A is not without its complications. The company has a history of donating to anti-LGBTQ causes, with millions of dollars of the chain’s past profits funding groups that oppose same-sex and support conversion therapy. On the other end of the spectrum, the NYC locations have donated more than 17,000 pounds of food to New York Common Pantry, an organization that feeds the hungry.

In 2015, shortly after Mr. Trump started his attacks against the company, Mr. Bezos joked on Twitter about sending the candidate into space on a rocket made by Blue Origin, a space exploration start-up Mr. Bezos owns.

But since Mr. Trump became president, Mr. Bezos and Amazon have become much quieter about his attacks. The company has refused to comment publicly about them. People who work there say privately that, while they do not enjoy Mr. Trump’s tweets, they are more likely to prompt eye rolling rather than some form of crisis control.

Fred Rogers—who was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania on March 20, 1928—remains an icon of kindness for the ages. An innovator of children’s television, his salt-of-the-earth demeanor and genuinely gentle nature taught a generation of kids the value of kindness. If Trump Fires Mueller, Will He Reap the Whirlwind?

It’s not a matter of if, but when, Trump fires Mueller, triggers the constitutional crisis that stains his presidential legacy forever and brings down the Republican majority.
Here’s what would happen immediately: nothing. The GOP would go into “Furrowed Brows and Deep Concern” mode, and pretend it didn’t happen. Republicans fear Trump’s tweets, Fox News and his base more than they revere the oath they swore to uphold the Constitution. I’ve said this before, and the joke is less of a joke and more of a caution at this point, but Trump could kill and eat a live baby on the South Lawn of the White House and the GOP caucus would shrug and say, “Well, he’s new at this. He’s not a traditional politician.”

What happens after the firing? Mueller is smart, and I presume he has a lot of the process set to continue on autopilot in the event that he gets taken off of it himself unexpectedly. Most of the FBI’s work will continue regardless of whom the president fires.
Oh, and one thing Trump might not be anticipating as he considers the possibility of firing Mueller: The tidal wave of leaks from the FBI and intelligence community would be astounding.

When President Donald Trump lashed out against Robert Mueller by name earlier this month, the president’s supporters sprang into action—treating the chief Russia investigator to political campaign-style opposition research.
Within hours, the Drudge Report featured a story blaming Mueller, the special counsel leading the Justice Department’s Russia probe, for the FBI’s clumsy investigation into the 2001 anthrax attacks when Mueller ran the bureau. The independent pro-Trump journalist Sara Carter posted a story charging that Mueller, as a federal prosecutor in Boston in the mid-1980s, had covered up the FBI’s dealings with the Mafia informant Whitey Bulger. Carter was soon discussing her findings in prime time with Fox News host Sean Hannity.
Meanwhile, Trump supporters on Twitter circulated video of testimony Mueller gave to Congress ahead of the 2003 Iraq War in which he endorsed the view, later proven false, that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction.
To some, the barrage looked coordinated among pro-Trump allies and media outlets, a concerted effort to tarnish Mueller’s reputation as part of a political strategy to undermine, or even eventually fire, the Russia investigator.

Fed up with Facebook data slurping? Firefox has a cunning plan

The Firefox add-on, as its name suggests, attempts to contain Facebook's tracking attempts, in an effort to provide refuge from the internet advertising panopticon.
Along similar lines, Mozilla last week said it would stop advertising on Facebook in an effort to encourage CEO Mark Zuckerberg to improve Facebook privacy settings. It also said it plans to implement a basic ad filter in Firefox later this year.
