9-months-late-to-reality-news: Paul Ryan says Trump lost the election
https://www.wisn.com/article/paul-ryan-says-former-president-donald-trump-lost-the-2020-election/37436025JANESVILLE, Wis.
Former House Speaker Paul Ryan told WISN 12 News on Monday there should be no question that President Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election.
"President Trump lost the election. Joe Biden won the election," Ryan said to WISN 12 News reporter Kent Wainscott during a rare interview.
Even as Wisconsin Republican lawmakers launch a forensic audit of the 2020 election, Ryan believes it is time for his party to move past the false claim that the election was stolen from Trump.

"It was not rigged. It was not stolen. Donald Trump lost the election. Joe Biden won the election. It's really clear," Ryan said.

I really hope this asshole is at least heavily scrutinized by the FBI or ends up in jail himself. Openly talking about planning another insurrection (my paraphrasing of his words).

If Mr. Kuo is correct, this is pretty huge. I say that, even as a non-Apple person.

Kuo: iPhone 13 to support LEO satellite communication, allowing users to make phone calls and send..
https://9to5mac.com/2021/08/29/kuo-iphone-13-to-support-leo-satellite-communication-allowing-users-to-make-phone-calls-and-send-texts-without-cell-signal/In an investor note, Ming-Chi Kuo today said that he expects the upcoming iPhone 13 models to feature a low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite communication mode. This would allow an iPhone 13 user to send messages and make phone calls, even when they are not within standard 4G/5G cell tower coverage.
Bloomberg first reported Apples investigations into using satellite technology to beam data to iPhones in a story from 2019. However, this is the first time we have heard that the feature is coming as part of the 2021 iPhone 13 lineup.
In the future, Kuo speculates that LEO satellite communication may also be used by the upcoming Apple AR headset, the Apple Car and other Internet-of-Things accessories.
Kuo says that the iPhone 13 will use a customized version of the Qualcomm X60 baseband modem chip. This chip will support communications over satellite.

Ming-Chi Kuo is an analyst at TF International Securities, a financial services group in the Asia-Pacific region. He gathers intelligence from his contacts in Apple's Asian supply chain, translating the information he gleans into research notes for clients.
His research notes often provide a solid look at Apple's future plans and while he is not always correct, his predictions on future Apple products are accurate enough to make him one of the most reliable sources for Apple rumors. Kuo previously worked for KGI Securities, Concord Securities, and DigiTimes.

What did President George Washington do about smallpox ? He followed SCIENCE....
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/history/article/george-washington-beat-smallpox-epidemic-with-controversial-inoculationsBy then, it was too late for thousands of American troops who marched on Quebec. Their commanding officer, Major General John Thomas, failed to follow Washingtons strict protocols during the ill-fated expedition, and he and one-third to half of his 10,000 soldiers perished from the virus. The force was soundly defeated. The smallpox is ten times more terrible than Britons, Canadians, and Indians together, Massachusetts statesman John Adams despairingly wrote in 1776.
As the epidemic spread, Washington decided to act. The following February, he informed Hancock that I find it impossible to keep it from spreading thro the whole Army in the natural way. He ordered all troops inoculated, noting to his leading medical officer that necessity not only authorizes but seems to require the measure. By the end of 1777, some 40,000 soldiers had been vaccinated.
Historians say the generals bold move proved critical to the revolutions success. A compelling case can be made that his swift response to the smallpox epidemic and to a policy of inoculation was the most important strategic decision of his military career, historian Joseph Ellis says.
When infection rates dropped from about 20 percent to 1 percent as a result of Washingtons order, even the skeptical Continental Congress was convinced. The lawmakers repealed bans on variolation across the colonies, the first major piece of American public health legislation. And, of course, after winning the war against smallpox, the United States went on to win its fight against Britain and solidify its standing as a new nation.

Fourteen portable refrigerated morgues are headed to Central Florida to help beleaguered hospitals store bodies, officials said Friday.
The number of deaths right now is unprecedented, said Lynne Drawdy, executive director of the Central Florida Disaster Medical Coalition, who ordered the units for health systems here. What were hearing from the hospitals is that the death count right now is higher than it ever has been.
Although she could not say how many of the deaths are due to COVID-19, she said COVID-19 is unquestionably the precipitating event.
Florida is now reporting an average of 227 COVID-19 deaths a day a state record and by far the highest count in the nation.

So trying to understand this one woman's logic, the disaster in Kabul has what to do with thousands dying in the US from a preventable plague ? "Smoke and mirrors" ?
These people are beyond hope (the ones trying to argue with the doctor).

Showing my age: I never DREAMED I would see the day when vacccination was controversial....
When I was a child and teen, if you needed a vaccination (even here in Florida for god's sakes), you just GOT it. Your doctor said you needed it for school or whatever, you got it. End of story. Not an issue whatsoever.
Did Jenny McCarthy get this madness started ?? Has this madness always been around ? I never heard of an "anti-vax" movement until I read a post here on DU about Jenny McCarthy going on Oprah years ago.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
