Anonymous Denies List of KKK Members after Politicians Respond

Source: Newsweek

Updated | Online hacking group Anonymous has denied responsibility for the recent publication of a list that claims some U.S. politicians belong to the Ku Klux Klan.

Last week, Anonymous said it would soon release the identities of about 1,000 members of the white supremacist organization. Anonymous is expected to release the details on Thursday, the day of the global protest movement known as the Million Mask March, in which demonstrators around the world will march in a protest against corrupt governments and corporations.

Anonymous denies it has any connection to the list of names, which was published Saturday on the website Pastebin. Most of the politicians included on the list—four Republican senators, four Democratic mayors and a Republican mayor—have denied the claims.

There is no evidence immediately apparent that confirms the details posted on the website. The posting user is identified as "Amped Attacks."...(more at link)...

Snopes also says the story is "false/undetermined".

Would it be possible to change "off topic" as the phrase automatically inserted in Host locked OPs?

It is not uncommon for Hosts to get a pm from a duer after an OP is locked for not meeting the Statement of Purpose for a forum, asking how it is "off topic". Too many do not realize that that is automatically inserted by the software and the real reason is typically let as a reply by the Host who did the lock.

The term "off topic" is often inaccurate, of only partially accurate. The real reason is explained in the last reply from the locking Host.

I do not know how easy it would be to change that phrase to something like This post does not conform to the statement of purpose for this forum (with a link to the SoP) . And this may be way down your list of things to do, no worries on rushing it but it would be helpful.

I am also asking because ATA is a read forum and perhaps some might see this and learn about the "off topic" phrase being automatically inserted into every thread locked by Hosts and that they should look at the last reply from the locking Host to see the explanation for the lock.

Thanks admin, have a good autumn.

People are being sent into Syria, not boots. Fu k depersonalizing people

I really hate the depersonalization of people in the military. They aren't "boots" but people. A boot is an article of clothing. What is being put into Syria is not articles of clothing but people will are sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, dads, moms, etc.

Fuck this "sending boots" bullshit. They are sending PEOPLE who can get injured, maimed, killed, psychologically traumatized by being out into situations where they do awful things to other people.

They should not be allowed to minimalist it by calling them "boots,".

These are people in special ops.

These are boots.

Mentally ill people aren’t killers. Angry people are.

I think this is a good article. Thoughts on it?

http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/medical_examiner/2014/04/anger_causes_violence_treat_it_rather_than_mental_illness_to_stop_mass_murder.html

(clipPIn addition to being a valuable cautionary tale about grocery etiquette, the story illustrates an important truth about violence and mental health: Violence is not a product of mental illness; violence is a product of anger. When we cannot modulate anger, it will control our behavior.

In the wake of a string of horrific mass shootings by people who in many cases had emotional problems, it has become fashionable to blame mental illness for violent crimes. It has even been suggested that these crimes justify not only banning people with a history of mental illness from buying weapons but also arming those without such diagnoses so that they may protect themselves from the dangerous mentally ill. This fundamentally misrepresents where the danger lies.

Violence is not a product of mental illness. Nor is violence generally the action of ordinary, stable individuals who suddenly “break” and commit crimes of passion. Violent crimes are committed by violent people, those who do not have the skills to manage their anger. Most homicides are committed by people with a history of violence. Murderers are rarely ordinary, law-abiding citizens, and they are also rarely mentally ill. Violence is a product of compromised anger management skills.

Sorry, having a hard time linking but wanted to share the news.

Thou shalt not commit logical fallacies

I just found a wonderful website to share. It doesn't cover all logical fallacies but does have many. Click on individual icons to get the definition and example for FREE.

ETA, you can buy a poster, but if you do as I wrote, "click on individual icons", you get the information for free.

PSA. REPUB primary stuff gets posted in GD. GDP is for DEMOCRATIC primary stuff.

Last night Hosts locked 18 threads in GDP that were about the Republican Primary for being in the wrong forum. This notice shows up during the posting a new thread process in GD and GDP.

GDP is for DEMOCRATIC primary stuff. GD is for the remainder, including REPUBLICAN primary stuff, policies and other stuff.

Are you posting something about the Democratic presidential primaries?

Last night I got the jury request bug also

No matter which link I clicked, it said "sorry that jury is full....etc" and when I refreshed it asked again. I finally ignored it and after a while it went away.

Thanks for letting us play here last night and mock the repub "debate".

No reply needed, just wanted to give a bit more on the recent jury request bug for Elad. Thanks.
