What About All The Businesses That Rely On An Efficient U.S. Postoffice?....

Catalog businesses, utilities, credit card companies, advertising, magazines, investment companies, etc.

All of these types of businesses would face severe hardships if the USPS goes down the tube.

Why don't we hear from these businesses?

Beyond these businesses that rely heavily on an efficient postoffice - the everyday American is equally reliant on the USPS.

Why don't we initiate a major Call-In Campaign? A 'Call your Congressman and Senator campaign' and overwhelm their offices with a barrage of phone calls saying "Save the USPS"?

Let them know their jobs are in peril if they don't "Save The USPS". We will vote them out of office. You destroy our postoffice - we destroy your job.

We need to do this. This is just so insane and destructive to let Trump & the Repugs get away with this.

Salvage Dawgs Has Been Cancelled.....

I got an e-mail yesterday that informed me that the Salvage Dawgs show is no more.

Here is just the first paragraph of a letter they put out:

After 8 years, 11 seasons, 143 episodes, 77 dog years, 140 plus salvage projects, 15 bloody appendages, maybe 2 or 3 real on camera disagreements, 1 or 20 miscalculations, 143 unique shop creations, 22 near misses, and several total failures, we have wrapped the filming of Salvage Dawgs. The opportunity to share our small business with a worldwide audience has been an incredible adventure and we are thankful to have worked with some great people along the way!

This was one of my favorite shows. It is both informative and entertaining. I learned alot about repurposing and recycling from this show and many of the techniques that they used to repurpose and recycle I incorporated in some of the projects I worked on in my hobby activities.

I don't know if there are many other fans of this show here on DU - but if there are - I'm asking you to make some noise to save this show.

Save Salvage Dawgs!!!!

[NOTE: I realize that there are many other more important things to save in these times of Trump (i.e., the USPS) but this show was one of my escapes from Trump world and all the bad news.]

The Dems Shouldn't Challenge Trump On These Exec. Orders Instead....

they should say Trump went ahead and did this EO and included many of the demands the Dems were fighting for and the Repug Senate & Moscow Mitch resisted. Trump only did this EO to take credit away from the Dems and it was done because he's losing to Biden in the polls.

The Dems should go on to say that what Trump has done falls short of what the Dems were fighting for and that the Dems will continue to fight for the American People to get them the support they need during this pandemic.

Challenging Trump on this EO is what Trump wants them to do. So instead the Dems need to snatch any credit away from Trump by saying he has only worked off of the demands the Dems were making in the first place - but he didn't go the distance.

Don't give Trump any satisfaction and say he's pulled a fast one on the American People and it's only Donald Trump being Donald Trump the con artist.

What's Happening In Las Vegas Since They Re-Opened?.....

I haven't heard any reports out of Las Vegas as to how they have been operating during their re-opening.

Are crowds of people back? Are they cruising the Strip? Is gambling back to normal? Have their been any accounts of a spiking amount of positive cases? Are the airlines bringing in throngs of people to the city? Are their lines at the airport waiting for taxi's to wisk them to their hotels, restaurants and casino's?

Just curious - is there anyone here on DU that has been to Vegas since the re-opening? Can you give us an account of what you encountered while there?

Are All Of Trump's Deplorables Going To Vote In Person At A Polling Place In November?......

Trump is doing his darndest to prevent mail-in voting during a pandemic. He's suing States. He's taking apart the U.S. Post Office. Every chance he gets in front of a camera - he discredits mail-in voting.

Does he think that only Dems or people that will vote for Biden would use mail-in voting? Wouldn't even his supporters take advantage of mail-in voting? I don't think many of his supporters want to contract Covid. I would imagine - even as he's got them convinced that this whole pandemic is a hoax perpetuated to make him lose or that they don't have to wear a mask - that a certain large percentage of his voters would avail themselves to mail-in voting.

One would think that even his supporters would not like to have their right to vote in November be taken away from them or even put in question.

Isn't he kind of shooting himself in the foot here?

It also strikes me as being treasonous that a president of the U.S. would even mount a campaign to take away or put in peril an American's Right to Vote.

Mail-in voting is the right thing to do during a pandemic. Haven't enough Americans died already?

What is wrong with this man and what is wrong with a National Political Party (the Repugs) that are allowing him to get away with this crap.

Many of his supporters feel that their rights are being infringed upon by the mandatory wearing of masks during a pandemic. Why don't they feel that their rights are being infringed upon by potentially having their right to get their vote counted in a presidential election?

With Respect To Mail-In Voting - Can A State Set-Up A Number Of Drop Off Points Where....

people can drive-up and deposit their filled out ballots?

I seem to recall that on April 15th (Income Tax Day) that there were drop offs set-up where one could drive up and deposit their filled income tax forms before the midnight deadline.

Couldn't such a system be set-up for the mail-in votes?

We're Going To Try A Zoom Class Reunion Meeting-Class of '62-We're Old-? For You Zoom Experts....

A couple of our senior citizen classmates don't have access to a computer. Is there a Zoom phone app available so they could use their phones to join our Zoom Meeting? If so, what is it called and where can I tell them they could download it from? Does it work well or will they get frustrated using it?

I'm Beginning To Realize Why The Repugs Are Stonewalling Another Covid Stimulus Bill.....

It is apparent to me that the first stimulus - at the urging of the Dems - kept the economy from totally caving. Any good numbers we're seeing with respect to the economy I have to attribute to the efforts of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer in standing their ground and getting the compromises necessary to get the first stimulus plans passed.

It just makes sense - the money that was put into the hands of the American People went right back into the economy. It wasn't put in the bank. People spent the money on food, utilities, rent and other necessities of life. So I give credit to the Dems on this.

I think what is happening this time around and why the Repugs are stonewalling this current stimulus negotiation is that Trump sees an opportunity here. A new con that he can take advantage of.

If Congress can't come to any agreement (on purpose because of Repug stonewalling) - Trump - by Executive Order - puts out the plan. And with 'timing being everything' and what he and the Repugs learned from the first go round of the stimulus - is that any money that the American People get - will be put back into the economy and be spent. The result is that the effects of such will impact the economy right around the November election.

Enter Trump here. Now Trump gets the opportunity to take credit for any positive effects of this stimulus by Executive Order. I can hear him saying 'It is because I'm such a great and benevolent president that the economy is doing so well. If we left it up to the Dems - we'd be in trouble right now and if you re-elect me - the economy will 'rock and roll' going into next year.'

So my theory here is that the Repugs are dogging things on purpose - so that Trump can - by Executive Order - push some stimulus through - so that he can directly take credit for any positive results come November.

Any thoughts here?
