Thought exercise to help us appreciate the depth and breadth of our candidates

• Before we grievously wound or destroy some of our best, brightest and most promising Democrats in the circular firing squad of the debates ahead, might it help to imagine BEYOND WINNING, to the team of former rivals in the future Cabinet of whoever turns out to be our selection for POTUS and VP.

Candidates might well take gracious opportunities to celebrate the strengths, experience and competence of everyone on the debate stages. How many vacancies in the current dRumpf Cabinet; and how shallow and incompetent are most of them?

After my second heart attack, I got a 6-week old Maine Coon kitten from the shelter.

From the first night home, she slept on my upper chest right above my wounded heart. As I was falling asleep that first night, she slowly began to purr, seeming to increase the intensity to a level of purring I had never seen from any cat. Within minutes I had the chilling sensation of being in a walk-in cooler – and my chest pains temporarily lifted.

I thought, "Wow, you are a healing animal!"

"Oh, Don," I heard her reply, "we're ALL healing animals."

Trumpolini has quickly taken it and tripled-down, with one-and-a-half twists into new, uglier territory. How soon till the 'new Kristallnacht'? This year, new and improved: so many more targets, Mexicans, Muslims, the Blacks, the Bleeders; whatever LGBT stands for. (Need I say sic?)

Somebody ordered this; somebody paid for it to happen. Lots of "our" people know about this family (FBI says they cleared the shooter years ago). This shooter, like the VAST majority IMHO, has a handler who has supervisors. Of course, they're good at this, and it always seems to work, and we'll likely never know.

• Neighbors, I urge your vigilance and focus. Please do not be distracted and misdirected. There is so much more going on here.

Sadly, I've watched this sad, evolving saga from early on. My freshman year at Penn State was 1966, JoePa's first year as head coach. But more significantly, I've seen similar sagas in a dozen other arenas, countries and cultures (just search "pedophilia ring" for a tragic overview).

As I see it, this is still an on-going cauterization, containment and cover-up operation. ~ Cauterize the wound; sacrifice as many as necessary. Contain the spreading story to the current list of characters and institutions. Continue the cover-up.

This has always been a much bigger cluster of cruelty and criminality than the child-raping actions one sick (well-placed) pedophile. I suggest history will show that Jerry / JoePa / PSU tragedy is but one more ugly peak atop a very deep, very old iceberg -- the SAME iceberg at the heart of the scandals within the Catholic Church / Boys Town / Boy Scouts, etc.

Courage rises among victims, those who love them, and citizens of conscience. The truth wrestles its way into the bright, disinfecting light of day. We will see exposed astonishing corruption. Governors Rendell & Corbett have SO much yet to answer for.

Embedded organized crime, blackmail, sports gambling, International pedophilia rings, working together for access, supply and protection. Pimping kids to wealthy friends and donors. C'mon, do you really think the Second Mile was just for Jerry's sick pleasures?

There is a LOT to lose here for these folks. Remember at least two disappearances remain unsolved in this horror: who, where (and how) is Victim 2, the child McQueary saw? Where is AD Ray Gicar? Why don't we know?

The Freeh Report is brutal. But remember, [1] they were hired by the Board (who to this moment have dodged any accountability); [2] they had NO subpoena powers; and [3] Freeh has substantial conflicts of interest with the Second Mile (not investigated and untouched, so far). Please, dig into the man's history as a "cleaner" of embarrassing and illegal crises.

I suggest that the primary reason so many folks are having such a hard time making sense of this "scandal", this tragedy, is that most of the truth is still hidden, and millions are being spent weekly to keep it that way.

It must and CAN be different this time ~ keep pulling on the threads. We cannot let up. The truth will out. The truth can set us free.
