If I could make a poll on DU in Meta, I would ask, why does everyone come here to DU?

And my options would be:

A. To get news I might of missed in the mainstream media
B. To hang out with other Democrats/Liberals/Progressives/etc
C. For the entertainment or just to see the car crashes
D. To pass the time
E. To make my views heard
F. To get or to make people agree with my viewpoint
G. Other (Please state reason)


Then I would start another poll and ask:

How critical is DU to you?

1. I enjoy it as part of my day/week/life
2. Life or Death! Seriously, agree with my concisely worded screed/rant/opinion or else.
3. Other (Please explain)

The DU Effect

1. Giving more weigh to a subject than the subject deserves.

Example: Ted Nugent's appearance at the SOTU address. Was this even mentioned anywhere in the mainstream media? I don't think CSPAN ever showed him. Did it matter? All the threads discussing it gave it more attention than it deserved.
