Ever been given some advice that you laughed at

then tried later and it worked. As some of you know I have been having trouble with my German Shepherd puppy biting. I've tried all the training and vet tips etcetera. Well this 90 year old Dutch lady in my writer's group said you should try speaking to her in German since she is a German Shepherd.

I'm thinking "okay" but this isn't an imported dog it was born here and I doubt the breeder taught it German commands especially since she was only six weeks old when we got her.

Today in desperation I said "nein", excuse my German spelling, and I'll be damned if Marnie didn't stop biting me. I've done it four times now and every time Marnie gave me that head tilt and stopped. It's probably a fluke and I'll jinx myself by saying it worked but hey so far so good.

It sounded silly at the time but hey who knows?

Thank You!

Two little words that don't cost anyone a penny to give but are hoarded like King Midas' gold. Maybe they wound our pride, for many in our society now equate even the most genuine and necessary forms of assistance from our fellow human beings as weakness, after all "we should all be able to pull ourselves up by our own boot straps"?

It could come from sense that we are surrendering control and think we may come to rely on others, too much at the cost of our own independence?

Then again maybe it's as simple as there are many people in this world who hold themselves above the rest of us, and think we owe them our service for free and complaining is their inherent right?

Not only that but they also think we should provide said free services with a smile, gratitude, and the perfectionism that a person of their stature is due. Woe to anyone who points out to those same people their unwillingness to give even the remuneration of the above two free words in return. They are blind to their hypocrisy of labeling others as lazy beggars.

Maybe it's just easier to complain and be grumpy?

What ever the reasons it's time to end the sparse use of these two simple words. Let me start:

"Thank You"

To my family and friends for tolerating me even when I am at my most crazy and am driving you to the same.

Thank You to the people of DU! We may not all always agree but there is always someone often many someones who will read a vent from a fellow member having a hard time who will offer a kind word or helpful advice. Sometimes it's just the reaffirmation that I am not alone in the world with just the Pukes, to give me courage to live another day and hope for a better tomorrow.

Thank You to my doctors, nurses, therapists etc who try and help me get healthier even though I am not always a co-operative patient.

Thank You to my public school teachers and college professors who taught me not only to read , write, and enjoy learning but that I had some level of intelligence even though others including myself had previously told me different. I would have given up completely on life without you a long time ago and that is no exaggeration. Thank You in fact to all Public School teachers in general who do the same for countless other children each and every day. I can't say enough about how much I owe my teachers.

Thank You also to my pets, musicians, writers, nature, artists, etc who share their love, imagination, and gift of sight into the beauty and possibilities for more and better that still remain in this universe we all call home.

Again Thank You and feel free to add your own Thank Yous to those giving souls in you life.

What's Your Preferred Cure when you are in one of those "moods"

where you just want to tell almost the entire world to go F themselves, but you know you can't really do that?

I am in one of those moods. I am sick of the pukes, I am sick of this country being sold to the highest bidder, I am sick of family telling me to just let things go,

I am sick of people who don't do what they are supposed resulting in me getting bitched at by others in public who expect me to magically step in and fix the other persons screw up even though it's a volunteer position, and I wasn't even supposed to be a part of the project to begin with, just the messenger.

That later is real issue with me because I have this happen to me again and again, in high school, in college, on the job. In fact in terms of jobs that was one of the key issues in me having a nervous breakdown and ending up on disability.

I've heard the same thing all my life "Oh she won't mind, she will do my work too if I ask her, she's so responsible," and like an asshole I do it because I was raised by parents who said "you never say it's not your job, you just do it, " but the minute I can't handle my responsibilities and theirs, it's jump down my throat time.

People keep telling me "oh your such a nice person, such an innocent person," well all that gets me is being taken advantage of and I am getting sick of it real fast. I used to just put up with it and do it to avoid conflict but I am sick of all of it. Plus they don't know in my head that I am telling them to just go you know what themselves.

I need a safe way to vent any suggestions?

Has anyone ordered fom Cafe Press before?

There are two cute German Shepherd mugs I would like to order but I have never done business with them before and am kind of looking for reassurance that they are trustworthy? Well as much as any company is these days.

Congratulate ME

I have lost ten pounds since December. Sorry to toot my own horn but losing weight has always been something I considered a pipe dream. I could just never keep motivated even with the doctors dire warnings. I would just get more and more depressed as I watched the number on the scales climb.

Then in December I got sick, my 12 1/2 year old dog Maxie got sick and food didn't interest me that much. I started to cut way down on portions and found at least my stomach felt better.

Having to say the last good bye to Maxie was hard. Then energetic Marnie puppy burst on the scene. At first I didn't think we were going to work together but now I think she maybe the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. She is forcing me to become more active again because before as Maxie aged and slowed down so did I. Now I'm taking long walks again with Marnie, I'm playing with her, and she keeps me too busy to snack.

The pounds have slowly started to just disappear, and my stomach hurts less, and I can breathe a lot easier. I am starting to feel a little brighter as well as lighter. Thanks Marnie!
