The Peace Corps isn't just bringing home 7,300 volunteers because of the coronavirus.

It’s firing them.

Because of the coronavirus, the Peace Corps is doing more than evacuating its 7,300 volunteers from 61 countries.

It's also firing them.

In a March 15 open letter to the volunteers, the agency's director, Jody Olsen, said, "We are acting now to safeguard your well-being and prevent a situation where Volunteers are unable to leave their host countries."

But nowhere in the statement posted on the agency's website does it tell the public that all the volunteers are being dismissed. That information is in the agency's "frequently asked questions" about the evacuations.

This was a nasty question?

Rebecca Ballhaus

.@PeterAlexander asks: "What do you say to Americans who are scared right now?"

“I say that you’re a terrible reporter. That’s what I say,” Trump says. " I think that’s a very nasty question, and I think that’s a very bad signal that you’re putting out to the American people.”

Arkansas governor orders gyms, restaurant dining rooms, bars closed

Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Thursday ordered the closure of all restaurant dining rooms, bars and gymnasiums in the state as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose by two-thirds, to 62, including in nine counties where cases hadn't previously been identified.

The Republican governor said he also would extend the closure of the state's public schools for three weeks, until April 17, when he will evaluate whether to reopen them "based upon the public health conditions at the time."

He said he was also directing state agencies to have employees work from home as much as possible, and for hospitals, clinics and mental health facilities to screen staff and visitors for fever and other symptoms of covid-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.

He said the new cases were "not a surprise," as the state's testing capacity has increased, but "reflect the fact that we do have continued challenges in Arkansas."

Fox News is doing a lot of backtracking regarding Covid-19.

Does their audience really have such a short memory?

He honestly think anyone believes this?

Donald J. Trump

I always treated the Chinese Virus very seriously, and have done a very good job from the beginning, including my very early decision to close the “borders” from China - against the wishes of almost all. Many lives were saved. The Fake News new narrative is disgraceful & false!

"Kung-Flu"!!! This is unbelievable and demeaning.

Weijia Jiang

This morning a White House official referred to #Coronavirus as the “Kung-Flu” to my face. Makes me wonder what they’re calling it behind my back.

Here's a thought about ventilators.

Chelsea Clinton

A good friend who is an anesthesiologist in Virginia is coordinating with her local veterinary academy to increase her hospital’s supply of ventilators when they approach capacity in the ICU. She realized that out our pets mostly use the same ventilators we do.

9:00 AM - Mar 17, 2020

I wonder how big an impact having these ventilators available would make.
