"We don't have an attorney general"

A little over a year ago, President Trump grew so frustrated with the failure of Jeff Sessions to protect him from the Russia investigation that he exclaimed:

“I don’t have an attorney general.”

Now that William P. Barr gave a news conference marked by a remarkably dishonest effort to pre-spin the Mueller report, and now that we have seen much of the report itself, the upshot of the day’s events can be summed up in one, similar sentence:

“We don’t have an attorney general.”

I just confirmed this with Rudy Giuliani. So now it is clear that President Trump, the WH, and President Trump’s personal lawyers have known for a while what’s in the redacted Mueller Report while Congress and the public wait to see it.

@jonathanvswan
Trump’s personal lawyer Jay Sekulow just told me he first saw the Mueller report on Tuesday afternoon. Trump’s legal team, including the Raskins, made two visits to the Justice Department to view the report securely — late Tuesday and early Wednesday, Sekulow said.

Ivanka Trump says she passed up World Bank post

White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump says her father asked her if she was interested in taking the job of World Bank chief but she passed on it.

The president's daughter said Wednesday in an interview with the Associated Press she was happy with her current role in the administration. She spoke during a trip to Africa to promote a global women's initiative.

The elder Trump daughter says her father raised the job with her as "a question" and she told him she was "happy with the work" she's doing.

I'm not exactly sure what Ivanka thinks she is actually doing in the administration, but I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief that she prefers that to being World Bank Chief.

Tucker Carlson guest, Mark Steyn, says Notre Dame fire due to "godlessness" in France

Tucker Carlson guest Mark Steyn reacts to Notre Dame fire by calling the French "Godless" and portraying France as overrun by Muslims

MARK STEYN (GUEST: Christendom is in retreat in Europe, and in France particularly - France has actually quite an aggressive belief in secularism and according to some polls, the French are even by the standards of the modern Western world among the most Godless people in that sense. Three years ago, in that terrible summer that began with the Nice truck killings, when it seemed as if the entire French state was unraveling, I went to Rouen cathedral for the funeral of Hamel, the French priest who had his throat cut at mass. And I went to the basilica of Saint-Denis, which is in the north of Paris where the French kings are buried.

And basically is a Christian museum in the heart of what is now a Muslim suburb in effect. There is no sense of Christianity outside of the walls of that cathedral. And it was after that that I went to then Notre Dame because you do have the sense that a living, breathing faith is just becoming actually a museum. An art gallery. A storage facility. And the French who were on the streets in tears this evening, on the streets of Paris - I don't think they're mourning just history or architecture or art or culture. They are mourning something else. But what that something else post-Christian France can't quite identify it. That's really the conundrum. When Monsieur Macron says we're going to rebuild it - rebuild it for what? When people talk about oh the heart of France has died - what is in the soul of France? What is this? Is it just the building or something more?
