Fire dept: Reminder don't leave hand sanitizer in your car

A Wisconsin fire department is warning people about the dangers of leaving hand sanitizer in their vehicles on a hot day.

In a Facebook post showing a burned car door, the Western Lakes Fire District explained the dangers associated with hand sanitizer.

ďBy its nature, most hand sanitizer is alcohol-based and therefore flammable. Keeping it in your car during hot weather, exposing it to sun causing magnification of light through the bottle, and particularly being next to open flame while smoking in vehicles or grilling while enjoying this weekend can lead to disaster,Ē the fire department wrote.

Trump's lethal aversion to reading

If you're reading this sentence, you've read more than the president has today.

Last month, The Washington Post reported that President Trump ignored "more than a dozen" intelligence briefings in January and February warning him of the coronavirus. They were in the President's Daily Brief, which the president doesn't read.

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro wrote a memo in January warning of "a full-blown coronavirus outbreak on U.S. soil." Trump said he didn't see it because "Peter sends a lot of memos," none of which he reads.

After failing to read about the coronavirus, Trump failed to respond to it. It's not a stretch to say that if the president read, thousands of lives might have been saved.

Arkansas 'not prepared' to move to Phase 2 of reopening, governor says

In a press conference on May 14, Governor Asa Hutchinson announced Arkansas is not ready to enter Phase 2 of reopening the state at this point.

"We're not in a position to predict when that might happen," Gov. Hutchinson said. "Obviously, when you see two days of increase in patients and two days of increase in hospitalization, that'll cause you to pause and make sure to remind everybody to be careful."

The governor said Arkansas still has a lot of work to do, so no one should assume the state will be ready to reopen in 14 days.

Hutchinson said this is not encouraging for a quick movement into Phase 2, but they will be evaluating all of the data in order to make that decision in the future.
