Gov. Hutchinson might have given some a good reason to wear a mask.

He tied wearing a mask now with bringing down the numbers and being able to have team sports this fall.

I wonder if this argument might convince some that mask wearing is a good thing.

I wonder if this argument would have any effect on those who refuse to wear a mask.

If we can force children into “Active Shooter Drills” so you’re free to walk around with a bazooker, you can wear a mask.

NATO officials say they were briefed on Russian bounties on US soldiers in Afghanistan

— even though Trump claims he wasn't

Three NATO officials say they had been briefed on intelligence that Russian operatives were secretly offering cash bounties to Taliban-linked militants for US casualties in Afghanistan — as President Donald Trump claimed he was not, and dismissed news reports on the intelligence as a "possibly another fabricated Russia Hoax."

The revelation that US intelligence had briefed the White House on the Taliban bounties had been a closely-held secret for several months, until US officials began briefing UK and other European allies last week.

The intelligence was first reported Friday in The New York Times and has since been widely confirmed.

Over the weekend, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said neither Trump nor Vice President Mike Pence had been briefed on the intelligence. And on Sunday, Trump tweeted that US intelligence "did not find this info credible" and did not report it to him or Pence, calling the Times report "possibly another fabricated Russia Hoax."

Okay, you know NOW. What are you going to do about it? Please address the nation.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump
Nobody briefed or told me, @VP Pence, or Chief of Staff @MarkMeadows about the so-called attacks on our troops in Afghanistan by Russians, as reported through an “anonymous source” by the Fake News @nytimes. Everybody is denying it & there have not been many attacks on us.....

An oldie from Borowitz Report, but resonates today.

Kremlin Names Trump Employee of the Month

MOSCOW (The Borowitz Report)—Capping an extraordinary year for the former television host, the Kremlin has named Donald J. Trump its Employee of the Month for December.

“No one has worked more tirelessly for the glory of the Fatherland than Donald Trump,” the Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an official statement. “He has set a high bar for all Kremlin employees, and for that, we salute him.”

To mark the honor, Trump’s name will be added to a plaque that hangs in the hallway outside the Kremlin’s H.R. office.

My son made a very important point today. If Trump had acted on Covid19 early,

instead of denying it for weeks and doing nothing, he could have guaranteed his reelection. If he had acted in a timely fashion with shutdowns and testing, he could have been hailed a hero, regardless his unacceptable conduct and actions on other matters. Had he shown any compassion or empathy for those infected with this disease, his popularity would have soared.

He chose not to do the right thing, however. He lied and dragged his feet while Americans sickened and died in the thousands. This albatross should be tied around his neck for the rest of his life. He lost his chance to react in a responsible manner and he can't ever take that back
