Arkansas Granny
Arkansas Granny's JournalAre there any knitters/crocheters out there looking for a way to utilize
all your leftover yarn? There may be a hospice in your area that would welcome gifts of handmade hats, blankets, etc.
My son and daughter in law volunteer at a local hospice and approached me about making items for donation. They both lost their fathers to cancer and both had been in hospice care.
I've made a couple of small afghans so far by completing a couple of unfinished projects and
using leftover yarn.
It occurred to me that this is something that fellow DUers might want to check out in their own communities.

I have a question about cream of tartar. I have a recipe for scones that calls for 1/4 t.
cream of tartar, 1 t. baking soda and 2 t. baking powder for leavening. I don't have any cream of tartar. If I omit it, will it make much difference? Is there a suitable substitute? Can I increase the baking powder and/or soda to compensate?
