Every time there is an horrific mass shooting the powers that be look at how to 'make us all safer'. In almost every response it comes down to inconviencing us, the victims. Installing metal detectors, doing pat downs at outdoor concerts, holding active shooter drills in schools. Every time the solution is to imose on us, the ones being shot at.
The background check system is a fucking joke. How many of these shootings were done by someone with a manifesto posted on social media. Why doesn't the background check extend to social media? I'm told it's a violation of privacy. Why can I park my car in the Albertson's parking lot and sell my guns to the first guy with cash without a background check? I'm told it's because background checks on private sales is a needless incnovience to 'law abiding citizens'. Why can't we have a national red flag law reported to the background check system? I'm told that red flag laws are 'confiscation', the biggest boogbear in all of gundom.
When any gunner is asked about any gun regulation I'm told it's a inconvience to 'law abiding citizens'. If I ask about a national or even local safe storage law I'm told that the 'law abiding citizen' who is a 'responsible gun owner' MUST have instant access to a gun to 'protect his family' and it's an inconvience to have to unlock a gunsafe.
Why is every inconvenience heaped on us, the victims? Why do gunners have to be placated? Why does the 9% of voters who want less reguation win out over those who outnuber them 4 or 5 to 1?
Oh, that's right the gun lobby out spends us victims.

The last decade saw a big rise in vehicular gun thefts -- especially in 2020.
Perhaps someone from the gun culture can devise a way to keep this from happening. They are the ones with the knowledge, skill and understanding to decide such things, right?
The fact is that every illegal gun, every gun used in a crime, every gun trafficked and every gun that ended or ruined a life entered the market as a legally purchased gun. So how is the transition from law abiding responsible gun owner to thief to homicide to be curtailed? Got any ideas that might not make the gunners apoplectic?
I do. Contribute to the gun control organization of your choice. Just a few $$ a year. Many whispers can drown out the few who shout.
I don't care if the gunners go apoplectic.
Despite U.S. ban, Russian ammo is still legally flowing into the (US) market.
How about that! The uber patriotic gun culture, the one that worships at the alter of the 2nd Amendment of the American Constitution is funding the Russian War with Ukraine.
This has to stop and to stop it we have to outspend the Gun Culture. We CAN do that now because for the first time in 50 years there is a viable anti gun violence movement. Let's all get up off our wallets and do what works!
Report: CDC records highest-ever number of gun-related deaths in 2020
"While gun violence affects people from all walks of life, the burden is not distributed evenly across the U.S. As the report details, gun violence varies widely by state and across demographic groups," says Ari Davis, policy adviser at the Bloomberg School's Center for Gun Violence Solutions and lead author of the report. "Policymakers who want to take action can look to states with lower gun-related deaths and adopt these evidence-based strategies like purchaser licensing and firearm removal laws."
This is not rocket science, we know what works and can see it working in states that have tougher gun regulations. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH US? Are 124 deaths a day not enough to get our attention?

What the data tells us
Law enforcement agencies do not release statistics on road rage shootings as a specific category of crime. But the Gun Violence Archive, a Kentucky-based nonprofit that tallies shootings in near-real time, tracks incidents in which someone in a car brandishes a gun in a threatening manner or fires at a driver or passenger in another car.
Last year, according to GVA, [link:http://|there were 728 road rage incidents involving guns ]in the United States, resulting in 132 deaths and 390 injuries. That’s up slightly from 2020, when there were 701 incidents, resulting in 102 deaths and 306 injuries.
Earlier this month, researchers at the gun reform group Everytown for Gun Safety calculated that a person was shot in a gun-related road rage incident every 17 hours, on average, in 2021. So, the number of road rage incidents remains more or less flat yet the number of people shot has doubled in four years. Hey, we all screw up and cut somebody off or change lanes on top of another car, right? Is that something to be shot for? Why have shootings increased so much? GUNZ!! Guns everywhere! More guns!
So you say to yourself, I need a gun to protect me from the people with guns. Sounds reasonable right? Yet the facts say you are far more likely to be shot with your protection gun than be protected by it.

Guns kill more teens and kids in America than drugs or cancer, report finds
Guns now kill more children and teenagers in the United States than car accidents, drug overdoses or cancer, according to new research.
The stunning finding came after researchers analysed decades worth of mortality data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), says the The New England Journal of Medicine.
The study found that gun-related injuries in 2020 claimed 4,300 young people’s lives, which was a jarring 29 per cent jump from the year before - and more than twice as high as the relative increase when compared to the US general population.
They stated that firearm related deaths rising while motor vehicle crash deaths lowered, demonstrates how creating policies for injury prevention can reduce injuries and deaths — and, on the flipside, how a public health problem can be exacerbated in the absence of such attention.
Vehicles keep getting safer and guns keep getting more lethal. It doesn't have to be this way.
