President Biden told the House Democratic caucus that bipartisan infrastructure package “ain’t going to happen until we reach an agreement on the next piece of legislation,” Punchbowl News reports.

Said Biden to reporters: “It doesn’t matter when. It doesn’t matter whether it’s six minutes, six days or six weeks. We’re going to get it done.”

......SNIP"

And Democrats around the country should be in the press every day talking about the different bits of the Reconcilliation Bill so it educates and blankets the country with information. Republicans will be screaming to pass it in 6 weeks if we do that.

Alberta tried this for everyone and there was an outcry. They had to stop

it. They ended up with flooded ICUs and cancelled elective surgeries. It is like they are trying to land the covid plane on endemic and are terrified of the virus being vanquished. They are willing to risk pandemic to get there.

Are they trying to get educated Americans to hate low info voters to undo

civil society, and once the middle class is destroyed, then switch to all educated elites voting for reduced taxes and division they are so afraid of being poor. The low information Trump voters would be jettisoned and stuck in a dark and brutal cerf underclass where they die early and often along with high information poor people who can't get a leg up because the middle class is non existant and they are too depressed to vote?

Manchin Wants to Delay Big Spending Package (Two articles)

Build Back Better' would bring 4 million jobs. It's up to Congress, this week in the war on workers

Sen. Joe Manchin and just about every Republican—probably every single one, once the counting is done—are opposed to investing $3.5 trillion over a decade in revitalizing U.S. infrastructure. But let’s be clear: with that, they’re opposed to creating jobs.

Here’s the Economic Policy Institute’s analysis of the jobs impact: “Combined, the [Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act] and budget reconciliation package would provide fiscal support for more than 4 million jobs per year, on average, over the course of the 10-year budgeting window, through direct spending and increased indirect demand in related industries.”

But the combined number covers over the much larger impact of the reconciliation package: “On its own, the IIJA will provide fiscal support for 772,400 jobs per year, or 19% of the total jobs supported by the combined package. In comparison, the budget reconciliation is expected to support more than 3.2 million jobs per year, or 81% of the total jobs. The budget reconciliation’s outsize economic impact flows from its more significant financial commitment to public investments.”

Manufacturing would get 556,000 jobs.

Construction would get 312,000 jobs.

The reconciliation package’s investments in caregiving would mean 1.1 million jobs.

Investments in fighting climate change and protecting the environment would mean 763,000 jobs.

So tell us again, Joe, how slashing the plan to ribbons is being fiscally responsible.

Manchin Wants to Delay Big Spending Package

“Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is privately saying he thinks Congress should take a ‘strategic pause’ until 2022 before voting on President Biden’s $3.5 trillion social-spending package,” Axios reports.

“Any delay on the Democrat-only reconciliation package could imperil House passage of the separate $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, which Pelosi has promised to pass by Sept. 27.”

Applegrove:

Sounds like Manchin is helping the GOP not have to run on destroying the BBB $3.5 Billion infrastructure plan in the 2022 midterm elections. Seriously is he a Republican? I hope Dems run on the infrastructure plan in 2022. The ads write themselves. Democrats could stand in front if local bridges and make speeches.

Help! I'm getting a lot of questions on minority rule, and who the Governor General

appoints as Government if there is no majority, all this over weeks in the Canadian forum of DU. The norm is that the party with the most seats, a plurality, forms the Government federally in Canada even if they do not get the majority of the popular support. That is how the Liberals won the last time. It looks like that is how they could win this time. That is how it has always been. Not to be a little Sally Who in Whoville but who are these norm questioners? And why does that scare me? It reminds me of the US. The right wing extremists in the GOP. What do we do? First and only english debate tonight. Advanced voting starts tomorrow.

September 9, 2021

Don't know. There are a whole host of things the GOP would like to break

Canadian norms about. Governor General has lots of powers. Woops she's aboriginal. Doubt she's going to **** norms up for right wing authoritarians who want to get rid of all treaties and give the election to the Conservative/People's Party when the Liberals/NDP are such a much larger group and an actual majority of voters.

He does know that the Eastern US is going to be very much wetter and

the western US very much drier and people and agriculture are going to have to adapt. Does he know this? So all americans are going to be adapting and it will be glaringly obvious in elections to come. Does he think Democrats are not going to talk about it? Or that people are not going to notice the disasters that surround them? And Red State people are not going to be in a bubble on this topic. It will pop.

Go scorched earth on Republicans Biden. Grrrrrrr RUFF RUFF. Take a bite

out of the pants of the GOP. Maybe GOP base will figure out the only thing the Republicans are offering them is an early death.

Krugman should read this book:

https://www.amazon.ca/Enchanted-America-Intuition-Reason-Politics/dp/022657850X

financial anxiety results in people stopping using reason and starting to think through an more emotional lens. Then republicans could really manipulate them. There is regression analysis to this effect. First came the financial anxiety over 20 or 40 years and then the racism and MAGA cult.
