This could be the white puff of smoke.

This is the first vote with a real chance of electing a speaker.

Why I love this President

His tweet after a tough loss for a team of young men.

Fellas you made us proud. We get up and keep going.

Here is to a bright future and 2026 back here at home.

If Trump was still in office we would have seen something like “I don’t like losers”

The Guardian has been amazingly good on the 1/6 stuff and

The Capitol Hill Lead is a 23/24 year old kid Hugo Lowell. I can’t say enough amazing things about this young writer.

just a reminder for that dumb fuck Susan Sarandon

Donald Trump told Chris Matthews that "there should be some kind of punishment for women who had abortions". Looks Like Trump got what he wanted.

I hope you realize how short sided and ignorant are for saying " Fear of Donald Trump is not enough for me to support Clinton, with her record of corruption."

Your stupidity helped Trump ruin the lives of American women.

Officer Edward's is a hero

There were many hero’s that day. She is clearly one. Injured and back in the fight multiple times. She is a credit to her training, her department, her self. She has much to be proud of. Even when not in the fight, she was trying to help others. My heart broke when she talked of looking at Brian Sicknick, pale from a chemical attack. He was murdered in an insurrection. How the DC Medical Examiner declared his death less than 24 hours later natural causes escapes reality.

Officer Edward’s, you are a HERO. Thank You!

Would it shock anyone here to learn that 5 of the top 10 deadliest mass shootings

We’re committed in Texas. Governor Abbott was right, with 5 of the 10 deadliest shootings happening in his state, the clear answer is more guns. Maybe with more guns they will be able to take all 10 slots.

Only a fucking idiot would come to the conclusion that more guns are needed.

All hat and no balls or brain power.

A legislative fix on background checks.

The republicans have tried to eliminate health care for Americans over 50 times. I would suggest that the both the House and Senate bring background checks to the floor of each chamber weekly now until Election Day. It will either pass or there will be a record to run on or against.

There is a reason that the republicans continued to bring up healthcare, it was the red meat to their base. Background checks are not red meat, they are a simple start to a terrible crisis.

Profile in Courage Awards last night

Below is the link to the Kennedy Library Profiles in Courage awards ceremony. It is also available through the Kennedy library web site if you are uncomfortable clicking on the link. The recipients are Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Congresswoman Liz Cheney, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, and former Fulton County, Georgia Election Department Employee Wandrea’ ArShaye Moss. Taking PM Zelenskyy or of the equation, the Kennedy's honored those who protected and are continuing to protect our democracy. It is about an hour long and worth watching it all. If you dont want to watch it all, minute 38-44 Mrs Cheney's comments capture part of why she is fighting this fight. I do not think of her as my political cup of tea, but, she is doing the right thing protecting our democracy.

As we hide behind the keyboard and user names here, and many of you don't know me, you will have to take me at my word that I am not a very emotional person. Kind of your classic Grumpy Old Man. Not very woke, would not be tagged with the term metro-sexual in a million years, just a gruff, hard old man. Old school Democrat, Hell yes, long supporter of the Party, Hell Yes, supporter of the platform, Hell Yes, Chicken in every pot guy, I donate money and time where and when I can. To me Ted Sorenson's Why I am a Democrat hits the nail on the head. FDR, JFK, Paul Wellstone, Tip O'Neill, Ted Kennedy, Barack Obama, all political heroes of mine.

I found myself in tears when Rusty Bowers and Liz Cheney spoke. I did not cry when our democracy was under attack on 1/6, but found myself in tears watching this. Not much of a crier, I cried when my grandmother died, I cried when our family dog died, I cried when my children were born, I may have cried one other time in the last 30 years, but maybe not.

Speaker Bowers talks about not only our democracy and 1/6 and the danger it faces, but he also spoke about the emotional damage of the loss of his child and not seeing her because of Covid. I don't really know what to think from here.

I hope we can right the ship and save our democracy, but I found myself crying.....
