bottomofthehill's JournalThe Green Zone
This is so depressing to watch, our Capitol is turning into Baghdad, and our seat of government is turning into the Green Zone. The Capitol is under siege. What has become of our democracy.
House and Senate Members will not be under oath on the 6th for their debate
Worse, they will be covered by the Speech and Debate Clause so will continue to lie through their teeth.
House Republicans to Trump, Drop Dead
130 Republicans broke with the President on the $2000 checks voting against him.
Next up, veto over ride. Could be interesting.
Feeling of dread
The last 8 months have been very difficult for a lot of people for a lot of reasons. I have been very careful to always wear a mask, have dramatically limited where I go, what I do, who I have over, how I have celebrated the holidays. I have gone to work because I have to, but my wife has been working from home as her job allowed her.
Watching the vaccine roll out of the plant and then go into the arms of healthcare workers brought me great pride in the human race and and I thought there would be a wave of relief.
I am more nervous now than I have been since the first day they started locking down. I have this heavy feeling of dread that there is light at the end of the tunnel and I am not going to get there. I was so excited Sunday but have not slept well since.
Please, please, please, people, act responsibly, wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance, do all you can to keep the spread from reaching further into the fabric of our society.
I know I am preaching to the converted here but I had to say it somewhere in hopes that I get it off my chest and can maybe get some sleep tonight.
I feel like I hit the lottery
It was a strange day at my local Giant Foods.
I was able to buy 2 cans of Lysol, there were no paper towels, plenty of toilet paper, No gallons of milk, but a few half gallons of low fat milk, plenty of ice cream and meats lots of spaghetti but low on sauce.
It was an odd trip but the Lysol was the win of the week for me. One for work and one for home. I feel very lucky To have Lysol. That shows how crazy 2020 has been, happy for Lysol
Lincoln Project Last Call Ad
It is brutally hard hitting and it scared the absolute shit out if me. It is that which has brought so much anxiety to my life the last few months. I watched it once, and will never watch it again. If it does not change minds nothing will

Finally, I VOTED
I have driven past my early vote location each day this week and the lines have been hours long each day. This evening, I bit the bullet and got in line at 5:30. It was nearly two hours but I voted. It was a beautiful night in Northern VA and the people in line were all proud to be doing their civic duty.
