Well, to answer your remarks from my

Perspective, the Democratic Party was once a real party, with vast differences between them and the Republicans.

Those of us old enough to understand what it means to be a FDR Democrat, and who realize that FDR's legacy is vastly different than what the New Age "Liberal" Democrats are forging, know that a Hilary Clinton Presidency is more of the same ol' same ol, Corporate-run state. (The definition of fascism, is after all, a place and time when Corporations run the government for their own purposes. Fascism doesn't necessarily have anything to do with swastikas or goose stepping soldiers.).

Thirty years of New Age Libs and we have a party far, far, FAR to the right of Richard Nixon.

With people like Obama supporting a Totalitarian NDAA Spy State, and the complete collapse of our civil liberties, with Endless wars for profit, with total support for the Nuclear Industry, with total support for Fracking and Pipelines (Obama approved a pipeline similar to Keystone XL over the Thanksgiving vacation,) what do people do if they want to have a decent environment? And to stop the military/surveillance state? Or to ensure that we have a decent safety net? And remember to arrive at such a militaristic, surveillance society, we have to insist on Austerity, including eliminating Social security and seizing that Fund, which currently has a damn Surplus of over 2 trillion bucks.

Right now due to Obama's Big Banking Appointments, 49 cents out of every dollar of profit generated in the USA goes DIRECTLY into the coffers of Big Businesses. Mainly the Four Biggest Banks.

To give you an idea of how out of whack that is, consider that under Reagan, only 8 cents out of every dollar went to banks.

How do we have a middle class if we continue along these lines? Of course, some here would argue we should just re-define "middle class" to mean people who make
$ 300K to $ 600K a year!

Let's state the friggin' obvious:

We are in this mess on account of our having bailed out the banks. (Sixteen trillions of dollars or more!) And not because of Social Security or "Welfare Entitlements."

I alternate between being amused by and horrified by how there is

Talk from POTUS justifying NSA spying at the same time that tributes come in regarding Mandela.

If the President's design for a world enslaved by NAFTA, CAFTA and now the TPP comes to pass, there won't be any countries left with the type of decent officials who will be able to protest the imprisonment of a true leader, as happened when Mandela was in prison.

It was various influential officials across the world who demanded and got the release of Mandela from his "stint" in jail.

When the huge arm of these "Trade Agreements" destroys the democratic processes of the other nations - so that all nations resemble the banana republic we now have at work in this country - there won't be any future Mandelas living free from rendition, life long imprisonment, or execution by drone.

Canada's Boreal Forest Cut Into Matchsticks to allow for Tar Sands

Processes to proceed.

This is what we are doing to the Earth Our Mother. At a time when I get dirty looks for driving a somewhat over-sized van, as I have no other way to get any where, and no money to buy a Prius, our political leaders, from both sides of the aisle, are bought off an d paid for by the industry that is doing this to the Forests that our oxygen-depleted planet so desperately needs.

Journal study indicates the same thing that vaccine critics have been saying for

nearly a decade or more - The Whooping cough vaccine allows for transmission of whooping cough! (It is also though to be one of the more poorly designed, and more contaminated with viral and bacterial debris than other vaccines.)

NY Times article on Journal study:

Whooping Cough Study May Offer Clue on Surge
By SABRINA TAVERNISE
Published: November 25, 2013

Baboons vaccinated against whooping cough could still carry the illness in their throats and spread it, research published in a science journal on Monday has found. The surprising new finding has not been replicated in people, but scientists say it may provide an important clue to a puzzling spike in the incidence of whooping cough across the country, which reached a 50-year high last year.

Matthew Ryan Williams for The New York Times

An older vaccine with longer-lasting protection was found to have side effects.
The whooping cough vaccines now in use were introduced in the 1990s after an older version, which offered longer-lasting protection, was found to have side effects. But over the years, scientists have determined that the new vaccines began to lose effectiveness after about five years, a significant problem that many researchers believe has contributed to the significant rise in whooping cough cases.

The new study, published on Monday in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, offers another explanation. Using baboons, the researchers found that recently vaccinated animals continued to carry the infection in their throats. Even though those baboons did not get sick from it, they spread the infection to others that were not vaccinated.

About a year ago, we had to put our kitty Toodles down:

I just had the sweetest dream about her, that I was taking down a tablecloth off the "kitty table" in our den, and I saw a kitty blanket crumpled up. When I went to straighten it, Toodles was hiding there.

She gave me a big grin and then I realized that over the past year, I should have looked for her. Finally I said, "I'm so sorry I didn't realize you are still with us." And she gave me her "outlaw grin" like she knew she could fool me.

In the dream, I never thought to consider that she was doing so well even though we hadn't fed her in over a year. This was a cat that showed up on our second floor porch, despite being 90% blind, half of the skin and flesh on the right side of her face missing. The vet who had tested her for feline AIDS, at the point in time after we had her for two months, and let us know that she had it. Yes, we were told way back in Nov 2010 how she had only six months, yet she blossomed under my spouse's tender care, including a mushroom potion he obtained monthly over the internet.

Under his patient and loving care, she became a beauty of a cat. When she became tumor-filled, late summer 2012, I went into denial, as I really thought she had beaten back the disease.

Questions for those Dems who think Nader and Third Party Voters are

The big reason that we lost in 2000 and 2004.

First of all, some 6 to 18% of all voters are voters who consider themselves allied to progressive causes. Even at 6%, that is a lot for a party to lose to Nader or some other third party progressive candidate.

So here's my questions -

1) Since the republican efforts to secure new gerrymandered districts have indeed thrown more than 6% of elected offices to the Republicans why aren't the Democrat Party Leaders on this issue like white on rice?

Here's the citation for damage being done to the Democratic Party via Republican gerrymandering in a recent Rolling Stone magazine article:

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/how-republicans-rig-the-game-20131111

2) Why aren't there any damn bones, even little ones, thrown to those of us on the progressive side? If the Party needs that 6% of us, then why not concede a little bit here and there?

Almost everything that Congress and the President have refused to do on major items, including socking tough regulations at the Banking Crowd, and refusal in honoring promises not to target medical marijuana clinics and users in California, somehow does get done for the Things The Dem Leaders Hold Sacred.

Example: Obama refused to hold forth on a bully pulpit on the issue of public option, during the health care reform debate months, but totally held forth on the bully pulpit when it came to Syria. Senator Reid refused to go nuclear option on the issue of the majority vote and the filibuster when it came to the public option (Which would have easily passed if 51 was a majority!) but suddenly is inspired to do this with regards to allowing Obama to have Federal Appointments be made.

We were promised by Obama in 2008 that he would somehow see to it that there was transparency. However, there is nothing at all transparent about a Heath Care Reform piece of legislation that comes in at over 2,000 pages.

Maybe there is no way that an American President could actually bring us around to transparency, but isn't there someone somewhere who can do this?

Worse still, in the good old days of the 1980's, a person could call their Senator or Congressional rep's office and usually a staffer could explain the meaning of any piece of legislation.

Now if you call for help in understanding a bill, the staffer will immediately give you the dot gov URl for that piece of legislation.

And that is where understanding ends. You are royally screwed. Once at the URL, there is little way to know what the bill means, as usually by paragraph three, you are reading legalese like this:

"In this section, HR 25677 Section Eighteen included in sub section 42 will be amended to divert those funds from that program to the program represented by HR 21222 Section Five Subsection 31, but reduced by 10%."

Unless you are somehow able to "crack the code" on this, you have little better understanding of what a bill means than before you went and visited the appropriate URL. Of course, in the matter of the ACA, we can visit different web sites and get different points of view, but in less important pieces of legislation, we will never know much more than the Title of the new piece of enacted legislation and what it says in forty pages of legalese over at the dot gov URL.

I am in "google hell" and need to get out.

there are two computers inside my household.

Often I use one or the other.

Just a while ago, my husband used "my computer." In order to check his email account at gmail, he got everything switched over to his userid.

So for several weeks, I couldn't utilize my YouTube account, as the google interface believed I was him. I finally found where I could sign out from his account and then sign in using my userid.

I admit this means I am extremely computer challenged, in terms of figuring out the website design of these big companies. Thsi whole thing ws rather readily available. I now know where the "sign out" and "sign in" tabs are to be found on Youtube.

But now that I am me, I occasionally get asked by him to check his email. Often this means he is in the middle of web design and he wants his computer.

So today I can't get to be him in terms of his email account at gmail. (Unless I am able to use his computer.) Please understand, I have his userid, with his permission, I have his passwords, I just can't find anywhere in gmail menu bar that will let me sign out as me and sign in as him.

That seems weird. Where is this sign out sign in function at? It seems weird to not have it more visibly available.

Michael Hastings, 2011, "Military Employing Psy Ops on US Senators" Re: Afghanistan

This is another reminder of what a terrible loop we are in right now. We have an immense Defense Budget, greater than the war budgets of the next 25 nations combined. So massive that part of that budget is used to have illegal Psy Ops used against US Senators. (Hastings mentions Senator Franken, in this interview.)

This is also a reminder of what we lost in terms of decent journalism when the Mercedes Benz that Hastings was driving accelerated, went out of control, hit a tree, and then blew up.

Not only was Hastings killed in the "accident," but the car's engine went flying some 200 feet beyond the place of impact. (With Mercedes Benz engineers saying the car is specifically designed to NOT explode like that should an accident occur.)
