No way he could not have had that information available.
Want lower taxes? Support higher wages.
http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/12/05/want-lower-taxes-support-higher-wages/This is an argument you can use with teabagger types, and win.
Snips:
That is the deal, Cranky Nation: for years, places like McDonalds, Walmart and suchlike have been paying such low wages, even their best workers are obliged to use taxpayer-funded services like food stamps, HEAP, and medical cards to keep a roof over their heads. Its gotten to be so common, even bank workers are frequently on public assistance. Banks. Where the money is. Even they wont pay their people a living wage.
That means, in short, these businesses are making we, the taxpayers, pay their bills, while they pad their bank accounts. Your tax dollars, being stolen to pay the bills that businesses are too greedy to pay themselves. That means higher taxes for all of us, meaning less money in our pockets."
Not everyone cares about social justice, sad to say. But almost everyone objects to being robbed.

Ohio finally comes out on top. In profanity.
http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/12/04/ohio-finally-comes-out-on-top/"Yes, in cursing. Hey, its f***ing something , anyway. Evidently, we swear more on phone calls than any other f***ing state.
And we are also supposed to be the least courteous people on phone calls. Yeah, well, call the Waaaahmbulance, whiners. Suck it up, Buttercup.
All this proud dropper of f-bombs (were talking carpet-bombing, Kissinger-scale bombing here, folks) can say to this honor is: its about God-f***ing-damned time we got some mother-f***ing recog-f***ing-nition for f***ing something around here. I mean, hey, motherf***ers, you live in this Republican Hell, this den of corruption-induced industrialized malaise, this place that reeks of almost-succeeded and also-rans, with its inequality and crap weather, and well see how long it takes you to start whipping out the lingua Franca . Dammit."
Sic semper Naderus. (A response to the recent pro-Nader posts)
In response to the predictable attempts to rehabilitate Nader for the next election cycle (like this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=4110265 ), I humbly submit the following rebuttal. It is packed with insights, insults, and links to facts (a thing often overlooked when this topic is "discussed" that buttress my case.
That case? Nader deliberately helped Bush to take the White House. Twice. And he said so himself. Deny it all you might, the facts support my thesis: http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/12/03/yes-ralph-nader-is-still-an-ahole/
The facts do not support my liberal use of proctological insults. But they do seem to fit.
So, Healthcare.gov works 80% of the time?
http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/12/02/so-healthcare-gov-works-80-of-the-time/The House of Representatives works less than 33% of the time.
The Senate was in session less than 50% of the time.
Republican fiscal policy was correct 0% of the time.
By comparison, the ObamaCare website looks pretty good.

Republican Theory meets Reality, and goes Splat. Again.
http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/12/02/republican-theory-meets-realityand-goes-splat-again/Snips:
"But then, it was Karl Rove who explicity pooh-poohed reality and extolled the virtues of creating ones own version based upon a theory. So the idea that Republicans cannot, and indeed should not, accept reality comes from the very core of their modern-day leadership. And so, it is not all that hard to believe that an entire party has chosen to live in a fairyland. And the fact that they choose to ignore the facts when they are not in compliance with their airy-fairy, fluffy-sparkly, unicorns-pooping-pretty -butterflies theory isnt all that hard to understand.
But regardless of the source of the unreal world or its theoretical underpinnings, that Theory is going to go Splat whenever it runs into Reality. And what gets hit by that splattering? You guessed er, Chester: its us."

Best. Anti-Obamacare. Satire. Ever.
This was written and posted elsewhere by friend, fellow bassist, and all-around local legend Ron Jarvis:
"I got a letter about renewing my dog licenses. They said a new option this year was the ability to renew online. I tried that and the website didnt work.
OMG! THE PORTAGE COUNTY DOG LICENCE SYSTEM IS A WORTHLESS PIECE OF LEGISLATION! THAT MEANS THE ENTIRE PORTAGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT SYSTEM JUST DOESNT WORK! ITS TIME FOR REVOLUTION IN PORTAGE COUNTY! ON TO RAVENNA!
Actually, I will probably just mail them a check like always."
Sometimes, somebody says it perfectly. Ron just did.
Pass this around - maybe he'll start blogging himself. He really should.

Small Business Saturday: Much better than Black Friday or Cyber Monday
http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/11/30/small-business-saturday-much-better-than-black-friday-or-cyber-monday/Black Friday Shopping Reminder: F*** Walmart, and the gravy train they rode in on.
http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/11/29/black-friday-shopping-reminder-f-walmart-and-the-gravy-train-they-rode-in-on/Lots more at the link, including info on ethical retailers who are more deserving of your custom.
"No matter how big a motherf***er you are, sometimes youll have to pay for what youve done to all those mothers. Even Walmarts CEO has to account for his abuse of that companys associates. Mr. Duke was forced out after the National Labor Relations Board announced its intention to prosecute the company for crapping on its workers.
Walmart, you see, really hates the idea of unions. Or anything that might increase labor costs, like, you know, paying a living wage, providing benefits, and so on. And anytime an associate (which sounds a lot like oh s***. Coincidence? Not in this case.) objects to being treated like a toad in front of bulldozer, Walmart retaliates. Even the NLRB cant believe the crap that Wal-Mart is pulling, so they are going after the company."
The Cranky Thanky Post.
http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/11/27/the-cranky-thanky-post/"This writer is thankful to live in a nation that allows a dyspeptic, contrarian old SOB to vent his spleen via blog on an almost-daily basis.
Also for a good wife, two excellent daughters, two grand babies, dog, cat, an extended family and a s***load of friends, fellow writers, musicians and sundry acquaintances.
And finally, as someone who was once rendered homeless by a stroke and a truly evil ex, massive gratitude is hereby expressed for a warm, dry house, and plenty of food and drink.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all in (and out of) the Cranky Nation.
Mr. Blunt and Cranky"
