i don't even know where to write to express my disgust.

i am so pissed.

I work in an office complex that is right next to the interstate on a heavily traveled road. when i was at the Obama office week before last, i got an Obama Biden sign to counteract the Romney sign that was put in front of the office complex.

it's gone. it was here this morning at 8 and today at 11:20 it is GONE.

i want to go tear that fucking romney sign out and rip it to shreds.

oh and i HATE fucking republicans and their refusal to wage a campaign in a civil manner.

are honor societies worth it?

my son is doing very well at ECU and has been invited to a number of honor societies, but he's not really interested in joining any of them. he's going to join one that concentrates on his major at the suggestion of one of his professors.
today he got an invitation to golden key international. they give away 1 mil in scholarships annually. i think it might be a good idea for him to join but i wonder if any DUers have experience in this, or advice.
thank you in advance!

PS he will be doing post graduate studies and a scholarship or two would really help.

a movie i'm watching on Netflix. it's the story of RFK's speech on the day MLK was assassinated. RFK shared a poem by Aeschylus as part of his speech. one of his speechwriters said there wouldn't be a speechwriter alive who woud have advised him to quote the greeks to this audience.
another member of his campaign said of him, "he spoke the same whether he was talking to poor people or rich people, black people or white people." (paraphrased)
it really made me think of mitt romney. what a huge difference, in depth, compassion, love. we KNOW what romney says when he's talking to rich people is so different from what he says when he's trying to fool the masses. we've seen him pandering to latinos and giving up on african americans. he's got the depth of a cartoon and appears not to have a heart.
so i'm crying a little bit now and thinking about what a toll the assassinations of the 1960s took on this nation. every once in a while i think about how different this country could be today. i know why i hold such contempt for republicans.
