looks better this morning. I'm still afraid of flooding and the huge pine that overlooks my townhome coming down and slicing my house in half, but less so.
I don't remember any of the really bad storms from the past, because I was in CA dealing with the occasional earthquake (now many of my loved ones are surrounded by catastrophic fires and enduring an almost endless drought). I have been really scared these last few days. Even now I suspect that Florence will be the worst storm I have been through in all of my 63 years.

or any republican. there's just a visceral reaction that is unbearable. so i have the hearing paused. i want to hear the democrats and the protesters.

i'll be calling my 2 traitorous senators today.

i think kavanaugh if confirmed can spell the end of our democracy, because he will overturn everything progressive from roe v wade to labor laws to social security and so on. Also he is trump's get out of jail free card. if he is confirmed we could have trump in the white house until he dies.

still shocked at the fecklessness of the republicans, their dirty tricks, their breathtaking hypocrisy, their violation of their oath to the constitution. this feels like the final nail in the coffin of democracy to me.
