National "Propaganda" Radio is at it again.

They had Cokie Roberts and a Federalist Society tool shitting on Hillary this morning and accusing her of lying about her health.

The clockwork rise of Donald Trump and reorganization of American parties

Article is a little old, But I think it describes the political forces in this election and how it is driving a political realignment very well.

Trump's base is NOT poor whites.

I just heard an interesting story on NPR's Morning Edition this morning saying that while Trump's base IS blue collar it isn't low income as is popularly claimed, it is primarily better paid blue collar workers without a college education with deep anxieties about outsourcing and "immigrants taking their jobs" as well as cultural resentments against "pointy-headed liberal" college-educated people.

A little PSA about the term "Neoliberalism".

This term can cause some confusion here in the US because here the term "liberal" has a different meaning in the US than it does in the rest of the world because of historical reasons, in the rest of the world "liberalism" means what we would call Libertarianism here in the US.

This is the result of different political histories in the US and Europe. Today American Liberalism and European Social Democracy are roughly equivalent, but they have very different ideological origins. European Social Democracy has its origins in "moderate" Marxist tendencies that moved to the center over time and eventually disconnected from it's Marxist roots. American Liberalism has it's origins in various mid-19th century ideological tendencies called "Left-Liberalism" that sought to curb the excesses of Capitalism while retaining an otherwise standard "classical liberal" framework (like support for free trade). The British philosopher John Stuart Mill is probably the most well known early left-liberal thinker.

I like the clean, simple art style. Some folks on Reddit are throwing a childish temper tantrum about it, though.

Some Democrats ARE corporate whores.

The whining of the Language Police does nothing to change that fact. Team Windsock knows that it is intellectually bankrupt and so resorts to inventing BS outrages to distract people from the issues. What is next, we can't call people idiots, cretins, and morons because those terms used to be labels for the mentally disabled?

People are complicated

My Trump-supporting cousin just posted this comment on FB:

Evelyn asked a question tonight as we are watching first time flipper which these kids love the diy or hgtv network, but on the episode we are watching the guys doing the flip are gay, and Evelyn turns around and asked me those guys live together? I think I handled it pretty well when I said yep sometimes 2 boys or 2 girls are in a relationship or get married and live together. You know just doing my part to end the hate for the next generation. ‪#?LoveEveryone‬ ‪#?Equality‬

Evelyn is his daughter. I was very surprised by this given his very vocal support for Trump.

Trump's inciting his supporters to violence reminds me of a quote from the philosopher Karl Popper.

"Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them. — In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law, and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal."

Popper was an Austrian Jew who fled the Nazis and wrote this in the middle of WW2.

Half of the delegates are still up for grabs

So anyone who is saying that this primary race is over and Sanders needs to drop out are not only wrong, they are implying that the voters in the later primary states don't deserve to have a fair primary contest.
