LA PORTE, Texas (KTRK) -- Battleship Texas, a 107-year-old relic of both World Wars, is set to pull up its anchors and depart from the San Jacinto Battleground.
Visitors have until the end of the year to book tours of the historic battleship before it is moved permanently from the Houston area.
Bruce Bramlett with the Battleship Texas Foundation said the main reason for the move is because it doesn't have enough paid visitors to maintain the ship.
"We need to get somewhere where there's a lot of people," Bramlett said.

What Closing Missouri's Last Abortion Clinic Will Mean For Neighboring States
As the last abortion clinic in Missouri warned that it will have to stop providing the procedure as soon as Friday, abortion providers in surrounding states said they are anticipating an uptick of even more Missouri patients.
At Hope Clinic in Granite City, Illinois, just 10 minutes from downtown St. Louis, Deputy Director Alison Dreith said Tuesday her clinic was preparing for more patients as news about Missouri spread.
“We’re really scrambling today about the need for increased staff and how fast can we hire and train,” Dreith said.
And at a Trust Women clinic in Wichita, Kan., that already has to fly in doctors, staff didn’t know what it would mean for their overloaded patient schedule.

Most of the buildings have been demolished, and environmental mediation and flood mitigation work continues ahead of attracting possible tenants.
“Most federal facilities would sit abandoned, closed for 15, 20 years,” Kevin Breslin, principal owner of Bannister Transformation and Development, said during a briefing and tour of the site Wednesday.
“Obviously, they begin to deteriorate over time, nobody can keep up these old structures. ... This is the better way to do it, by addressing it immediately after the federal facility was abandoned.”

The I-70 Speedway Can't Reopen Soon Enough For Business Owners in Odessa, Missouri
Updated at 11:48 a.m. with commission's approval — Chris Payne had hoped that there would have been Memorial Day Weekend racing at a new motorsports complex like there was with the Indianapolis 500, the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Formula One’s Monaco Grand Prix.
That wasn’t the case. But there are signs that it will be a reality in 2020 at the old I-70 Speedway. On Wednesday, after months of haggling, the Lafayette County Commission approved the operation of the I-70 Motorsports Park under Kansas City businessman Chris Payne’s ownership.
It’s a project that both Payne and business owners in nearby Odessa hope will bring new life into the small town.
The track that’s along Interstate 70 has been closed since 2008. Yet, the rusted I-70 Speedway sign is close to being replaced. And, once approved, Payne can begin reconstructing the site, which will have a dirt oval track, a motocross course and a drag strip.

The Commander of the Legion would have the ability to overrule local regulations and ordinances to ensure that projects are started and completed promptly and effectively.
Appoint a new Secretary of Cybersecurity to lead our efforts to secure our country’s vital systems from cyberterrorism, which is one of the leading threats to our ongoing prosperity.
Invest heavily in counterproliferation efforts to identify and secure sources of weapons-grade nuclear material, including offering to buy such material for exorbitant prices."

St. Joseph's Psychiatric Museum Lets Visitors Pretend To Be Detectives Like On TV
Skulls and bones have a lot to say.
Among the most basic pieces of information they hold are the gender, age and sometimes cause of death of their former user.
"It's all recorded on the bones. All we have to do is teach people how to interpret those markers left on bone," says Ashley Burns-Meerschaert, who is headed to the Glore Psychiatric Museum in St. Joseph, Missouri to teach forensics classes.
Burns-Meerschaert is director of education at SKELETONS: Museum of Osteology, and has been teaching groups of curious people how to interpret those markers at the museum’s locations in Oklahoma City and Orlando.
