Towlie's JournalA Spooky Resemblance! "Trump has been stewing all week... and has been quick to blame his staff..."
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/white-house-systems-failed-with-comey-firing-but-trump-pushed-the-buttons/2017/05/13/e9db104e-375c-11e7-b373-418f6849a004_story.htmlReminds me of a familiar scene from Der Untergang.
Trump needed to hear the applause and adulation that he craves, so he went to Liberty University.
The presidents mood had been low due to going a full week without hearing the applause and adulation that he craves",so he delivered a commencement speech to the graduating students of Liberty University.
You may have heard of Liberty University; it's the school that teaches creationism as a biology course. It can now boast of endorsement by the President of the United States, who today arrogantly violated the very first provision of the First Amendment by establishing fundamentalist Christian beliefs as fact. He told them "But you aren't going to let other people tell you what you believe, especially when you know that you're right."
Google News shows so many anti-Trump articles that I thought they were selecting them just for me...
... so I logged off of Google, deleted all of my cookies, used my VPN, and checked again.
Wow, no difference! It really is that bad.
A movie quote from James Earl Jones says it all:
Comey was taken aback by Trump request for loyalty pledge
From Clear and Present Danger:
(On whether Jack should investigate the growing scandal)
Admiral Greer: You took an oath, if you recall, when you first came to work for me. And I don't mean to the National Security Advisor of the United States, I mean to his boss... and I don't mean the President. You gave your word to his boss: you gave your word to the people of the United States. Your word is who you are.
Discussion: I have a question that doesn't necessarily apply to current events.
When I read this I began to wonder:
"And Vice President Mike Pence, talking to reporters, echoed his boss."
In general, is the President really the Vice President's "boss"? Can the President fire the Vice President even though he/she was elected by the people? What could happen if the Vice President publicly dissociated himself/herself from the President?
I've noticed that the news in general is steadily looking more and more like DU.
The headlines of traditionally honorable, unbiased, authoritative, and trustworthy news sources are becoming virtually indistinguishable from the headlines here on Democratic Underground. Reality is crowding this site out of room (and need) for liberal bias.
Trump invents catchy new saying, "prime the pump"!
http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/11/politics/donald-trump-priming-the-pump/TRUMP: We have to prime the pump.
ECONOMIST: It's very Keynesian.
TRUMP: We're the highest-taxed nation in the world. Have you heard that expression before, for this particular type of an event?
ECONOMIST: Priming the pump?
TRUMP: Yeah, have you heard it?
ECONOMIST: Yes.
TRUMP: Have you heard that expression used before? Because I haven't heard it. I mean, I just...I came up with it a couple of days ago and I thought it was good. It's what you have to do.
Yeah, right.

L.A. Times defends United Airlines and overbooking, gets solidly trounced in the comment section.
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-airlines-overbooked-20170413-htmlstory.htmlOn The Faulty Logic Of Wanting Year-Round Daylight Saving Time
There are many who want to abolish daylight saving time, and I agree with that. If a business or activity is affected in some important way by the presence or absence of sunlight then let it adopt a variable schedule, but let's keep our clocks honest about what the time actually is.But there are also people who want permanent daylight saving time, and that makes no sense at all. Our long-established customs of getting up, going to work or school, opening and closing businesses, eating lunch, eating dinner, going to bed at night, and generally living our daily lives according to the time displayed on our clocks would only automatically adapt over time to compensate for a permanent one-hour clock advance, eventually prompting these same naive people into asking for another one-hour advance of the clocks, until they finally realize that cutting 12 inches from one end of a blanket and sewing it onto the other end doesn't help it cover your feet.
What do you think about this?
Stephen Hawking presents a wealth of enticing movie plots!
Hollywood, get to work on these ideas!

(Seriously, they're all legitimate reasons to worry but nothing can be done about any of them, except to make entertaining movies with exciting special effects.)
