protect our future
protect our future's JournalJohn Kerry and Susan Rice
are both well qualified to be SOS and I believe either would do a fine job. I am not aware of any others who might be considered for the position (but what do I know ).
I trust our president to choose whichever candidate would serve our country best. After all, he knows Susan Rice and John Kerry a bit better than any of us do.
The tidal wave of DUers who are terrified
of Scott Brown seems to have become a tsunami. I'm surprised at how certain many DUers are that they can predict the future. I include all the DUers from Massachusetts who insist they know the Great Fearsome Mr. Brown is invincible.
Perhaps President Obama has a different take on what is best for the country. And perhaps he is in possession of information or facts that he will take into consideration when he makes his decision. I think it is best left up to him.
May the best and most loyal and most capable man or woman be given the job of SOS, which is of the utmost importance in determining the future of the world and our position in it. That applies to the job of SOD as well.
I think some of us should avoid joining the
tidal wave of DUers who seem to be terrified of Scott Brown.
As to what is best for the country, I think that decision should be left up to President Obama and the individuals being considered for high-level positions.
Hahaha a new classic is revealed
and it will never ever die; instead it will live forever in our hearts and minds, and it will resurface from time to time in future threads until eternity ends.
Love it!
I hope she remains as leader.
Now that women across the nation have been a force to be reckoned with by voting Dems in and Rs out, Nancy is going to give up her position to Steny Hoyer? Noooooo!
Couple of dozen. I used my coupons. nt
My Christmas wish:
That somehow a DU Christmas project could be organized so that members who are in need could be gifted by members who want to help.
Mass and karynnj,
the two of you have expressed what I feel much better than I, myself, can, and I wish either one of you could critique my posts before I post them. Luftmensch, thank you for putting me in my place, and justly so.
After eight years of never-dissipating anger at the national media for its treatment of Senator Kerry in '04 and now hearing what he should or should not do as expressed by people who are relatively uninformed, or who have their own agenda, or who are simply parroting the opinion of others just because it sounds good, I reach overload and tend to explode and spew venom on all who are unfortunately in the area.
I apologize to all the regulars in the John Kerry Forum who might think my post was directed toward any of you. It wasn't. You guys are the best.
Here's a thought. I would think Senator Kerry and President Obama have already discussed the SOS situation extensively, thrown around some ideas, and a decision has already been reached. All that time those two spent together in debate prep? That's all those two were doing or discussing? Nah.
Yes, John Kerry is valuable
in the Senate, and yes, if Senator Kerry left it might open up his Senate seat to Scott Brown, and yes, he deserves to be SOS and that position may be offered to him. But I wish anyone here at DU who has decided he must stay in the Senate would STFU. The man is an extraordinary human being who gets little credit from outsiders for all he has done for this country over the years. If Senator Kerry is offered the position, let's allow him to decide what he should do. I am sure he will choose what is best. (Sorry, but I sometimes go grrrrrrrr !!/#!! ballistic kaboom when I perceive my hero JK is not being treated with the deference I think he deserves, so now I, too, will STFU, lol.)
Says he has a mandate to not raise taxes
because R's still hold the House. Avoids mentioning Obama clearly stated the rich should pay a little more during many of his campaign speeches...and now who is it who was reelected as President, Mr. Speaker?
