Salvation Army refuses to let Quiverful nuts hold "Get them married retreat" on their land. Event

----
'In much of our materials, we focus primarily on the marriage between a virgin young man to a virgin young woman,' one sentence stated.

'We do this not because we believe that this is the only right kind of marriage but because, right now, that is the area where our churches are hurting so badly.'

Another section, addressing what a woman should do if she cannot find a suitor, read: 'First of all, the woman should be going to her father and letting him know, unequivocally, that she is ready to be a wife and mother.

'She should let her father find her a husband. Give the job to him. No veto, no holding back, no qualifications.'

A different passage, explaining how to know a woman is old enough to get married, explains she should have breasts, be ready to bear children and by ready, 'sexually and emotionally', to have sex.

Officer accidently fires into baby's crib during routine parole visit

Officer Neal Browder was with other officers on Bayview Heights Place about 8:40 a.m. on Feb. 20 when the shooting happened, said San Diego police Lt. Scott Wahl. He said police conducted an investigation, but he declined to give more details.

Residents at the apartment, located Friday by San Diego Union-Tribune Watchdog, described the accidental shooting.

“If my son had been in that crib, he wouldn’t be here today,” said Kimberly Espinoza, 17, who lives in the apartment with her son, Isaac, then 11 months old, her 54-year-old grandmother, and a 30-year-old uncle who was the subject of the routine probation check.

“And if he was in it, and it had missed my son, he would still be traumatized,” she said.

The incident unfolded quickly, the family said.

After the uncle was taken outside the apartment, the rest of the family entered the living room so the bedrooms could be searched by Browder and another officer. Browder and the other officer, guns drawn, entered Espinoza’s bedroom, where the baby’s crib was located.

Suddenly, a shot rang out. According to Espinoza, Browder looked uneasy and nervous and was quickly taken outside while other officers arrived and began investigating.

After several hours, police located the discharged round. The bullet hit the right side of the baby crib, ricocheted left and struck the wall behind it, Espinoza said.

About a week later, another officer returned to collect follow up statements from Espinoza and her family to accompany evidence from the officers’ body cameras, she said. The family asked if the department would help pay for counseling after the event, but never heard back.

They disposed of the crib.

Outrage erupts at Paris police's 'brutal' search of triple-amputee man at train station

The French public have exploded in anger after a video was posted online showing a man with no legs and only one arm sitting on a train platform, with his prosthetic legs scattered around him after being searched by police.
The footage shot at Paris Gare de Lyon railway station was posted on Facebook by Jean-Didier Bakekolo, who said he witnessed the May 2 incident.

The video starts with police officers walking away from the amputee who is sitting on the floor with his prosthetic legs removed.

“Officer, officer, we need you. Officer, turn back please. This is humiliation, it is not normal,”
Bakekolo is heard shouting to the officers. But they don’t turn back.

The camera then returns to the scene of the incident where the handicapped man sits on the platform and is trying to put his prosthetic limbs back on.

______

After the search, police appeared to leave without helping Bayga to put his prosthetic limbs back on.

The video has been watched at least 190,000 times with many users on social media saying they were outraged at police brutality towards the handicapped man.

“And then the cops are surprised that we do not like [them],” Daniel Garner, a Facebook user said, while Agnes Gaudy added: “My heart is with that poor man.”

Comments under Bakekolo’s video included: “What a shame!” “Shame on France,” “Shock,” “Inhuman and degrading treatment,” “This is outrageous,” and “Being a policeman does not give you the right to humiliate.”

France’s official ombudsman, Jacques Toubon, has announced on Twitter there would be an inquiry into the incident

The website of the French international news channel France 24 traced the victim of the alleged harassment at the Gare de L’Est. He was identified as François Bayga, an African migrant who has made a formal request for the right to live in France.

Mr Bayga said that three policemen had approached him and pushed him up against a wall while he was travelling from the Gare de Lyon to the Gare du Nord.

“They demanded my papers and I took off my back pack and showed them,” he said. “I gave them my telephone, my medical card and my membership card at my wheelchair rugby club…”

“They accused me of stealing my phone. I started to get angry. I didn’t know what they wanted. I was pushed up against wall and one of the policemen pulled at my leg. I explained it was artificial…They insisted on searching me. I felt completely humiliated.”

Mr Bayga was finally helped to replaced his artificial legs and his trousers by a passer-by and a woman ticket inspector.

At the time that the officer came to a sudden stop there is nothing in front of him, and he is later heard telling Omar B he braked because he felt the driver was going to run into him.
In the video posted to YouTube on April 22, Omar B is seen following in what he later describes as one car length behind the officer while traveling between 22 and 29 mph before the incident occurs.
Officer Velez then gets out of his car and approaches the driver asking, 'How close are you going to drive behind me?'
Omar B responds saying he was 'like a car length away' before he accuses the officer of brake checking him.

'I braked 'cause I... I thought you were gonna run into me,' Officer Velez says in the video.
Later, Omar B is issued three summonses for not having a license plate, for tailgating and for having tinted windows.

Trump's 1990 remarks about coal minors

, though, I keep going back to these somewhat-widely quoted comments Trump made about coal miners back in March 1990 in, of all things, a Playboy interview:

What satisfaction, exactly, do you get out of doing a deal?

I love the creative process. I do what I do out of pure enjoyment. Hopefully, nobody does it better. There’s a beauty to making a great deal. It’s my canvas. And I like painting it.

I like the challenge and tell the story of the coal miner’s son. The coal miner gets black-lung disease, his son gets it, then his son . If I had been the son of a coal miner, I would have left the damn mines. But most people don’t have the imagination–or whatever–to leave their mine. They don’t have “it.”

Which is?
“It” is an ability to become an entrepreneur, a great athlete, a great writer. You’re either born with it or you’re not. Ability can be honed, perfected or neglected. The day Jack Nicklaus came into this world, he had more innate ability to play golf than anybody else.

Read that part again:

The coal miner gets black-lung disease, his son gets it, then his son. If I had been the son of a coal miner, I would have left the damn mines. But most people don’t have the imagination — or whatever — to leave their mine. They don’t have ‘it’.

It’s strange, isn’t it, that we don’t see this insult to miners being posted left and right on the social media accounts of coal industry front groups. What if Hillary Clinton — or god forbid President Obama — had said that the people of coal communities just don’t have the imagination to do anything else?

Republican bigwigs stare at Donald Trump in disbelief, but too bad! He's yours ha ha!

Yesterday we marveled at Donald Trump’s unhinged response to Sen. Lindsey Graham. A gracious man trying to unite his party would’ve taken Graham’s reticence to extend an olive branch, vow to earn his support, and assuage party elders and donors that Trump could indeed pivot to general election footing. Instead, he didn’t just burn the bridge, he dropped a nuclear bomb on it, then took a piss on the rubble. And all along, the party elders stared aghast.

On Friday, Mr. Bush’s disavowal of Mr. Trump landed as a bitter blow. The former Florida governor is revered among party veterans and has one of the most powerful fund-raising networks in Republican politics. In a statement, Mr. Bush said his former opponent lacked the “temperament or strength of character” to serve as president [...]

He reacted with fury to another statement of rejection, from Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. Mr. Graham, a longtime Trump critic who briefly ran for president last year, said Friday that Mr. Trump was unfit to be commander in chief.
Here’s the problem for Trump—he doesn’t want to spend hundreds of millions of his own dollars for the general, so he needs to party donor base to pony up. Some, like the Rickets family and Sheldon Adelson have already signed up, but the bulk of the party’s fundraising apparatus answers to the Bush family, and all of them are livid at how Trump treated Jeb. They’ve flipped Trump the bird, and Trump is incapable of the ass-kissing required to repair the damage. People kiss his ass, not the other way around.

Meanwhile, the Clinton campaign is trolling.

Hillary Clinton’s supporters in recent days have been making a furious round of calls to top Bush family donors to try to convince them that she represents their values better than Donald Trump, multiple sources in both parties told POLITICO.

The moves come as Clinton and the Democratic Party try to take advantage of deep unease among establishment Republicans on Wall Street and elsewhere with Trump’s emergence as the presumptive Republican nominee.
So the critics will likely scream, “SEE? Clinton is a Republican!” In reality, Clinton doesn’t need this money. She’ll have all she needs from traditional donors and small dollar supporters (she’s ramped that up, not to Bernie levels, but respectable nonetheless).

Rather, money that goes to her is money that won’t go to Trump, and there’s huge value in denying him (and the RNC) funding. Think about all of Trump’s liabilities, now add being broke to his litany of woes. And this is one time that he can’t declare bankruptcy to save himself.

In a down-on-its-luck Oregon mill town, the savior they're waiting for is Donald Trump

We have what we need to stay in business right here,” Jones says, pointing to the lush pine and cedar forests that surround this town of 1,800 people on the northwest slope of the Siskiyou mountain range. “But we can't get out there to cut it down because one agency won't talk to another one, or the environmentalists tie it up in court.”

When Jones thinks about what kind of president might be able to do something, he looks at the one who seems to him least like a politician: Donald Trump.

Oregon's politics are dominated by the Democratic Party machine in Portland and Salem — the state hasn't elected a Republican to statewide office since 2002. But this mountainous corner of southwest Oregon, just up the Redwood Highway from the California border, has always leaned Republican.

And even as GOP voters across the state have waffled ahead of the May 17 primary, drifting from retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich before leaning toward Trump, the New York real estate magnate's support in Josephine County has never wavered
Here, people talk about electing a president who will stop immigrants in the country illegally from flooding in and taking jobs, who'll be tough on America's rivals abroad, who knows enough about business to keep the country from going further into debt.

Video: Man watches Fort McMurray home burn on security cam

House burns to the ground 20 minutes after occupants left

At the beginning the only thing out of the ordinary is the intense crackling. Then, the south-facing window goes dark. Only minutes after the video begins, the window shatters and plumes of ashy smoke pour into the room.

The smoke eventually blocks out the light, and you’re left again with just sound—popping and breaking, until the video cuts out.

O’Reilly was in his truck, his wife in a vehicle behind, at Gregoire Lake south of town when he watched his home destroyed.

He’d just driven through six packed lanes of traffic, the air full of so many embers it looked like fire brushing the sides of the camper he was pulling, and he says the adrenaline softened the blow—but now, its starting to settle in.

“We’ve ben talking for two days about all the things we left behind,” he said. “We left pretty much all our important papers, some important pictures, we left a glass of Candace’s father who passed away.”

China bans 'erotic' banana-eating live streams

Chinese live-streaming services have banned people filming themselves eating bananas in a "seductive" fashion.
New regulations mean that live-streaming sites must monitor all their output round-the-clock to ensure nothing untoward is going on, keeping an eye out for any "erotic" banana-eating, according to New Express Daily. It's not just fruit that's on their radar though - the paper adds that wearing stockings and suspenders while hosting a live stream is now also forbidden.
The move is the authorities' latest attempt to clamp down on "inappropriate and erotic" online content, state-controlled CCTV reports. In April, the Ministry of Culture announced it was investigating a number of popular live-streaming platforms for allegedly hosting pornographic or violent content that "harms social morality".

-----
News of the banana ban has prompted thousands of users to chime in on Chinese social media. Some are more concerned with the young women choosing to take part in live streaming, but others are a bit baffled by how the rules will be enforced. "How do they decide what's provocative when eating a banana?" one person asks. Another wonders: "Can male live-streamers still eat them?"
And plenty think people will be able to get around the banana ban: "They will all start eating cucumbers, and if http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-36226141 no good, yams," one user says.
