missing 4 year old found in neighbor's house with their dog

SALT LAKE CITY — A missing 4-year-old boy was found Wednesday after walking away from his home, police said.

Salt Lake police Det. Cody Lougy said Walter Clingenpeel went missing around noon and was found around 1:45 p.m.

Officers responded quickly to the area of 2700 South and Filmore Street and began going door to door. One officer looked through the window of a house several doors to the south of Walter's home and saw him with a dog inside.

No one was home at the residence, but Walter had gone through a gate at the side of the house, where he found an open door.

Walter has been returned to his parents.

polls show whites are starting to listen on racial issues, racial attitudes undergoing radical shift

After a year of high-profile police shootings of black Americans, many captured on video, racial attitudes among Americans — particularly whites — have undergone a significant shift.

A majority of whites now say the country needs to do more to make equal rights a reality, and a significantly larger number of white Americans say that blacks are treated less fairly than others by law enforcement officials, according to several newly released polls.

The share of Americans who say that racism is a “big problem” in the U.S. has grown significantly as well.

Asked whether the country “needs to continue making changes to give blacks equal rights with whites” or whether it already has “made the changes needed,” Americans just short of 2 to 1 say more change is needed, according to a survey by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center.

man gay-bashes former west point cadets with boxing training. gets beaten in return

Daniel Lennox-Choate and Larry Lennox-Choate, both former West Point cadets, were shopping at a small grocery store in Manhattan's Soho neighborhood Sunday afternoon when they found themselves the target of anti-gay obscenities, police said.

A man, believed to be in his 40s, had entered the store to buy beer, but then began making homophobic statements at the couple, leading to a verbal dispute, police said.

The man then struck Daniel in the face, causing minor injuries to his mouth. But he didn't get away clean.

"Aside from one fat lip and a sore punching arm, we are fine," Larry wrote on Facebook. "The guy who screamed anti-gay obscenities at us in a bodega before sucker-punching Danny? He left covered in his own blood with his tail between his legs after I handled the situation and tossed him in the street like the coward loser he is."

"We refuse to be victims and are thankful we can defend ourselves," Larry added, "but are saddened by the fact that idiots like this guy might not pick two guys who went through Plebe Boxing next time."

Man sports KKK tattoo and 'FUBU' shoes at Confederate flag rally

"I didn't know if you were aware. The brand FUBU, it stands for ‘For us, by us,'” Chidi says to the man, further explaining that FUBU was created by a black entrepreneur as a symbol of African-American pride.

“Them shoes that you probably wore was designed by a white man back in the 1920s,” the man replied. “But does that make you stop wearing them shoes because the white man designed them? I don’t care if a black man designed my shoes.”

DONALD TRUMP RISES TO ‘POSITION OF TOTAL DOMINANCE’

Donald Trump’s rise to a position of total dominance in the Republican presidential field has been accompanied by a dismissive snort from Beltway mandarins that Trump is merely a “fringe” candidate. The idea, in essence, is that Trump has a strong but narrow appeal to a group of mouth-breathing xenophobes and practically nobody else.

But a new Bloomberg Politics poll of Republican and Republican-leaning voters demolishes this claim. Trump not only laps the competition—he has twice the support of the second-place candidate, Jeb Bush (21 percent to 10 percent)—but he also leads among every demographic subgroup, but one (self-identified “moderates”).

Let’s break it down. Trump leads with male voters (Trump 24 percent, Bush 11 percent, Walker 10 percent) and female voters (Trump 18 percent, Bush 10 percent, Huckabee 10 percent). He leads with voters younger than 45 (Trump 15 percent, Bush 10 percent, Rubio and Paul at 9 percent) and voters older than 45 (Trump 25 percent, Bush 11 percent, Walker 9 percent) and seniors (Trump 23 percent, Bush 14 percent, Walker 9 percent).o

Fallout continues after town manager photographs employee's exposed backside

CHADBOURN, NC (WECT) - A former employee is appealing for unemployment benefits from the Town of Chadbourn after he says he was humiliated, then wrongfully terminated.

Johnny King was the public works supervisor for The Town of Chadbourn when the acting town manager took a picture of King’s partially exposed backside as he repaired a water leak.

The following morning, King says Town Manager Patricia Garrell came to the public works office loudly announcing she had a picture of his “butt crack” before showing that picture to everyone in the office. Mike Foss, who was Chadbourn’s director of public works at the time, witnessed this happen.

Meanwhile, news reports referencing the photographs of King's partially exposed backside made it on the front page of the local newspaper. King said he was wearing suspenders, but his pants were too big because he'd lost weight and they slipped below his waist when they got wet while repairing the leak.

“It’s embarrassing. Can you imagine how we feel?” Karen said of their emotional state dealing with all of this. She also said if the roles had been reversed, and a male supervisor had taken and shared pictures of a female employee inadvertently exposing herself while doing her job, this would never have been tolerated.

---!
Responding to questions about the pictures Ms. Garrell took of Johnny King’s backside, Pope says they were taken to prove the need for chest high waders. King is waist deep in water during the leak repair.

ny cop pulls yogurt container off baby skunk’s head , skunk not grateful

Sometimes cops are caught in stinky situations.

Officer Merlin Taylor of the Rochester Police Department in Michigan came to the rescue of a baby skunk whose head somehow got stuck inside a yogurt container Sunday morning.

The police dash cam recorded the hilarious heroism and the department uploaded the video to their Facebook page shortly after the rescue.

As Taylor slowly drives up to the baby skunk, the squirrely animal frantically runs in circles, unable to escape the container’s grasp.

In the video, Taylor carefully reaches his gloved hand out to snatch the container off the skunk’s head and misses. After a couple failed attempts, he finally frees the animal from its plastic prison.

But the skunk is anything but grateful.

The teeny animal freezes with its tail raised and aims toward the officer ready to shoot. Fearful of getting a faceful of odorous perfume, Taylor runs away. But the skunk is still too young to spray and nothing comes out.
