Washington fan wears redface for game against Giants at MetLife Stadium

Washington fan showed up at Thursday night’s game against the Giants in redface and a black ponytail wig with feathers tucked in it, apparently drawing inspiration from the team’s insensitive nickname and logo.

The unidentified fan, who was wearing a Ryan Kerrigan jersey, didn’t interact with Giants fans at MetLife Stadium, according to a fan who was in attendance, but Big Blue backers were generally disgusted by the man’s choice of gameday attire.

“He was sitting a few seats away and a lot of people were talking about how inappropriate and just plain old wrong it was,” a fan, who didn’t want to be identified, told the Daily News. “But I didn’t see anyone confront him.”

Verizon slaps couple with $2 million bill for plan they had for one month

Slusher signed up with the cellular company in November of last year and purchased two phones. He cancelled the plan after only a month, returning the phones to the store, due to discrepancies in the bill.

A bill that should have been $120 was $698 and included a previous balance of $451. And then a followup statement arrived indicating a balance of $9.

Huh? Slusher was astonished by Verizon's math.

"The number of errors and the comedy of which they happened is astounding to me," he told Fox 12.

Notices started arriving from collection agencies asking for $2,000 and more, and Slusher found himself battling customer service for months. They would agree something was amiss but nobody could fix it.

When Slusher called Monday, he heard the account balance was $2 million. This became a problem when he was signing papers for mortgage on a home he and Wilson are trying to buy.

"If I don't get this straightened out in the next 24 hours, I can almost guarantee I'll lose this house," he told Fox 12.

Officer Dandurand stops couple on way to give birth. Arrests father to be so he misses birth

Happened a few years ago. Seems video is being released now

Cops Hold Couple at Gunpoint for Driving to Hospital to Give Birth, father misses birth

Infuriating Dashcam Video Shows Cops Hold Couple at Gunpoint for Driving to Hospital to Give Birth
A father missed his daughter's birth because cops locked him in jail for driving his pregnant wife to the hospital.

---
As Reiner attempted to explain to Hebron officers Anthony Dandurand and Travis Thomas that his wife was about to give birth to a baby and that he was on the phone with dispatch, they had nothing of it.

“I will shoot you, you piece of s—! Get on the ground!” yells Dandurand as he points his gun at the distressed couple.

Reiner, in an exercise of futility, continues to plead with the officers to communicate that his wife is in labor. But this effort is to no avail. As Dandurand rushes up to the panicked father to be, he smashes the submissive man’s head into the pavement.

On the other side of the car is officer Thomas, who is holding Dana Reiner at gunpoint as she screams that her water has broken, and she needs to get to the hospital.

----
Prior to the ambulance showing up, these stellar public servants were busy taunting a father to be with jail time. According to the couple, when they pleaded with the officer to help them, Dandurand replied, “You will be in jail tonight, and you will not be there when your child is born.”

-----

These maniacs nearly caused the death of an infant because of their jackboot tactics and disregard for civil rights. One would obviously assume that they’ve both been fired, right?

Wrong.

According to Portage Police Chief Troy Willians, Dandurand, who now serves as a K-9 officer, has been a model officer since joining the department in June 2012, five months after the Hebron incident.

“Officer Dandurand should not be demonized for one unfortunate incident in which several factors played into the outcome,” Williams said.

After the couple explained the situation, Dandurand reportedly told James: "You will be in jail tonight, and you will not be there when your child is born."

When Dana got out of the car to show the police that her water broke, she recalled a gun laser sight was pointed on her pregnant stomach by Sgt. Travis Thomas, who had arrived at the scene.

Dana recalled that the police told her to "get back in the f------- car."

"I thought, 'OK,'" Dana added. "I'm not going to let them shoot my kid. I got back in the car."

Dandurand and Thomas called an ambulance and made Dana wait for paramedics, who barely got her to the hospital on time in Crown Point, Indiana.

Dana's doctor had to unwrap the umbilical cord from her baby Abigail's neck, and reportedly said the infant would have died if Dana had given birth on the roadside.

Americans over 65 share their greatest regret

"I wish I hadn't spent so much of my life worrying."

___
Pillemer launched the Legacy Project in 2004 and asked more than 1,500 Americans over 65 years of age about the most important lessons they learned over the course of their lives. In"30 Lessons for Living" he refers to his subjects as "the experts" because they hold more tried-and-true wisdom than any self-help book or pundit could possibly offer.

Pillemer writes on Quora that he had expected "big-ticket items" like affairs, bad business deals, or addiction as his experts' biggest regrets.

But over and over again he heard versions of "I would have spent less time worrying" and "I regret that I worried so much about everything."

"I found this lesson from the experts to be surprising," Pillemer writes in "30 Lessons for Living." "Given that they had lived through difficult historical periods and great personal tragedies, I thought they might endorse a certain level of worry."

Dealers, owners feel frustrated and betrayed by VW scandal. customers demand dealer buy cars back

Dealers, owners feel frustrated and betrayed by VW scandal

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Bob Rand bought his Volkswagen Passat last year for its clean emissions and high gas mileage. He liked the car so much he convinced his son and a friend to buy one, too.

Now, as Volkswagen comes clean about rigging diesel emissions to pass U.S. tests, Rand is desperately trying to sell the fully loaded model with white leather seats for $10,000 below what he paid. His sole bite has been from a man who offered $7,500 on speculation that he could resell it in Mexico.

"Volkswagen was somebody that you could rely on for cutting-edge products and quality and all those things and now you find out that they're not above lying just flat out," said Rand, who plans to join a class-action lawsuit against VW. "That's probably about as bad a thing as a company can do is lie to your face when you're buying a $35,000 car."

Rand's anger at the world's top-selling car company was echoed Wednesday by private dealers, auto wholesalers and owners across the U.S. as fallout from the smog test trickery mounted.

____

The revelations left dealers sitting on hundreds of diesel cars they could not sell. Many also dealt with a flood of angry calls, emails and tweets from Volkswagen owners who felt betrayed because they believed they had bought a car that polluted less without sacrificing the good gas mileage and performance that comes with a diesel engine.

Dalai Lama on successor: 'If it is a female, the face should be very attractive'. or 'not much use

The Tibetan spiritual leader, a self-declared feminist, stunned a BBC interviewer by saying that were a woman to eventually take over his position, she would be unsuitable if she was ugly.
"That female must be attractive, otherwise it is not much use," he said.

The ageing Buddhist monk made his remarks during a nine-day visit to London, where he is promoting the concepts of compassionate and considerate behaviour. However, his views on the qualifications for whoever eventually takes over his role may damage his standing among female followers.

Interviewed by the veteran BBC TV journalist Clive Myrie, he was asked first whether it was possible that a woman could take over his role in the first place. He confirmed enthusiastically that it was, and then said that in a previous interview years ago, he had told a French woman reporter that a woman Dalai Lama would be a good thing "in our troubled word", as she would have "biologically more potential to show affection and compassion".

He then leaned forward to Myrie with a smile and added: "Then I told that reporter: 'If it is a female, the face should be very attractive'."

Myrie retorted: "You are joking, I am assuming. Or you're not joking?"

The Dalai Lama then made it clear he was not. "It's true," he replied.

S.F. priest leaving over attending women’s ordination conference

Catholic priest will no longer be allowed to stand at the pulpit in San Francisco after attending a conference over the weekend advocating the ordination of women.

The Rev. Jack McClure will conduct his final Mass at the Most Holy Redeemer parish in the Castro on Sunday, archdiocese officials said.

There is some dispute about the particular sequence of events, and whether McClure’s resignation was voluntary or forced. But the two sides agree he is no longer welcome to perform priestly duties in San Francisco because he attended the conference.

“His pastor said it was a bad idea; don’t go to the conference,” said Mike Brown, archdiocese spokesman. “He told his pastor, ‘I’ve got to go.’”

McClure attended the Women’s Ordination Worldwide conference in Philadelphia, participating on a panel called “Break the Silence,” appearing with excommunicated or otherwise outcast priests.
http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/S-F-priest-sanctioned-for-attending-women-s-6525428.php

As for the idea of women as priests, he said, “I don’t think they would probably do a very good job of it. But I would be willing to give them 2,000 years to try it, because we really haven’t done all that well all the time either.”

Seat design to make boarding planes easier: aisle seat slides over middle seat 2 make aisle roomier

Boarding an airplane is usually a bit of a hassle. You’re cramped, and there’s barely any room to get to the overhead bins.

But a new seat design could help solve that problem. It’s called the Side-Slip Seat and the idea is pretty simple.

The aisle seat basically slips over the middle seat during loading and unloading. It then slides back and snaps into place.

The design allows for wider aisles and more space for movement.

The seats also have a staggered approach, giving passengers more living space, according to the company. The middle seat also gets a little love, with a wider base.

When the sliding seats are fully folded up, boarding efficiency is improved by 4.5 minutes during random boarding and a full 6.7 minutes—or 33 percent-- for blocking boarding.

black driver and white cop have positive interaction

Cosgrove pulled over Barnes on State Road 332 and issued him with a warning for driving too fast. Barnes, from Muncie, Indiana, told WishTV.com that he 'immediately knew' he was in the wrong.

After receiving the warning, he got talking to the officer. And he wrote in his Facebook post accompanying the photo: 'I was pulled over today for speeding. The officer did not know me nor did I know him, but we each showed one another a mutual display of respect in our interaction.

'He was doing his job, and I had made a mistake in trying to hurry home to get started moving that lead to our path's crossing.

'He ran my information, and in the end we talked more about how are (sic) individual days were going, and the situations and circumstances within our society that have lead to interactions such as he and I's to play out much more negatively, some even deadly, than ours

'Then we talked about the situation that lead to him pulling me over.
'In the end we both thanked each other for our mutual displays of respect and agreed to take a "selfie" together to help tell our story.'
