Yes, Bernie Polls Better Against Trump Than Hillary—But There’s A Catch

For example, the most recent poll, the NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll, showed Clinton beating Trump by 3 points and Sanders beating Trump by 15 points. That means Sanders bested Clinton’s performance by 12 points. In other polls, Sanders’s lead on Clinton was less but never fell below a margin of 3 points.

Case closed? Not quite, say polling experts.

Clinton has been scrutinized and attacked as a public figure for a quarter century, but Sanders—even after running for president for a year—is a relatively new figure to voters nationally. It remains to be seen how open voters will be to supporting Sanders once Republicans start airing negative attacks, especially ones that note his identification as a democratic socialist. (According to polls, being a socialist is a less attractive quality for voters than being an atheist.)

“General election polls don’t mean much until the conventions are over and you get to late summer or early fall,” said Kerwin Swint, a political scientist at Kennesaw State University. “A lot of voters don’t look at Sanders as a legitimate threat. It’s almost like he’s an imaginary candidate.”

And it’s worth adding, as Meet the Press host Chuck Todd noted, that Clinton can be expected to poll better against Trump after she officially secures the nomination and many former Sanders supporters come to her side.

A Plea for Help From Donald Trump’s Hair: "What he did to me, he’ll do to America!”

Marcus Aurelius said, “Accept the things to which fate binds you, and love the people with whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your heart.” Of course, that was easy for Marcus to say — he was a Roman emperor and a philosopher; not a bad fate to which to be resigned. Fate has been somewhat less kind to me. I have the thankless job of being Donald Trump’s hair. By this time, you should be feeling better about your own life. By the way, I have to whisper because he’s sleeping now and would throw a fit if he knew I was saying these things to you.

At the risk of stating the obvious, being The Donald’s hair is not a job I ever applied for or desired. Had anyone asked me, I might have requested being Steve Jobs’ mind, Kobe Bryant’s body, or Oprah Winfrey’s entertainment savvy. But, no. A cosmic roll of the dice resulted in my ending up on this man’s head, in the now-familiar form at which you’ve no doubt gazed in stupefied wonder many times. As a result, I have taken and continue to take what I believe social scientists refer to as a butt-load of abuse. I’m not saying the abuse is undeserved considering the visual results of how The Donald treats me. I just want someone to feel my pain.

As brief examples, among the descriptions people have used to degrade and humiliate me:
A mound of cotton candy but with less style
An aggressive cowlick gone rogue
Hair follicles embedded in the scalp at completely random angles
The color of an undeveloped baby chick
More flyaways than LAX
More soft-serve swirl than Dairy Queen
Televangelist-style comb-over from Hell
Grotesque, exhibitionistic, peacocky mutation

Can you feel my pain? The sad part is, they’re correct. I mean, he’s asking for it, isn’t he? With my wavy slant that seems to defy gravity. I plunge, cover most of his forehead, and just before touching his brows, I ascend to the heavens. It’s nauseating and this is my life.

And, come on, does he think he’s fooling anyone? Is there a person on the planet who doesn’t believe he’s going to desperate, tasteless extents to camouflage the thinning? And my color; don’t get me started. Too late. It’s obviously no color that’s ever been found in nature. To compare my color to burnt Cheetos or nicotine-stained teeth would be offensive to burnt Cheetos and nicotine-stained teeth. For the love of God, I was a natural, pleasant brown when I started!

But even more unbelievable than my physical appearance is the fact that Donald actually thinks it looks good. The man has, I assume, two functioning eyes and still he thinks this looks good. And wants to be the Leader of the Free World. If the man completely misjudges his own appearance, what in heaven’s name will he do with situations of far greater import? Look at me! Hopefully not while you’re eating. Kim Jung Un’s hair is the laughingstock of the world and I swear he has better hair than Donald.

California Latino Republicans see Prop. 187's ghost in Trump's campaign

The businessman’s campaign, staked on a hard-line approach and incendiary rhetoric about illegal immigration, threatened to unravel the progress they’ve made to repair a schism created by a 1994 ballot measure that sought to deny taxpayer-funded services to those in the country illegally.

The state GOP lost a generation of Latino voters in the aftermath of that ballot measure, Proposition 187. And now Latino Republicans fear they will lose yet another generation as a result of Trump becoming the standard-bearer of their party.

“I am concerned, and I’m saddened, and I’m bewildered,” said Luis Alvarado, a GOP media strategist who, like many other Latino officials in California, said he will not vote for Trump. “We had fought for every inch in changing the minds and hearts of not just fellow Latinos, but also fellow Republicans in understanding how we need to work together. And Trump comes along and everything just gets pushed aside.”

In California, there are 4.1 million registered Latino voters, with 55% registered as Democrats, 16% Republican and 25% having no party preference.

Trump insists that Latinos “love” him, but polling does not bear that out. A Fox News poll in May found Latino voters favored Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton over Trump 62% to 23%.

Many have had a visceral reaction to Trump's proposals that include deporting 11 million people and building an enormous border wall. Protests greet Trump whenever he holds rallies in California.

When former Downey Mayor Mario Guerra was wrongly listed as a Trump delegate, the Republican received many angry emails and phone calls from his constituents, accusing him of being disloyal to his ethnicity.

Apartment complex orders tenants to "friend" it on facebook or be in violation of lease

Residents at City Park Apartments received a notice on their doors requiring them to "friend" the complex on Facebook within five days of signing their leases.

If they don't do so, they could be found in violation of their rental agreements. The order seemed to apply to everyone, including those who have already signed, according to KSL.

don’t want to be forced to be someone’s friend and be threatened to break my lease because of that,” tenant Jason Ring told the station. "It's outrageous as far as I’m concerned."

The document also includes a release that permits the property to post pictures of tenants — as well as their visitors — on its Facebook page.

Instead, people are visiting the Facebook page to express their anger about the new policy.

"Dropping in and giving you one star because you act like a bunch of Nazi's with the FB policy you are forcing down residents throats," one user wrote on Facebook.

I think management has their 'magic underwear' on too tight and it's cutting off the circulation to their brains....jus sayin..." another user wrote.

Japanese boy missing in mountains after being left by parents as 'punishment'

Source: Cnn

Rescue teams are searching for a seven-year-old boy missing for two days on a mountain range in Japan, after his parents abandoned him "as punishment."

The area near Nanae-cho, Hokkaido, in the country's north, is known to be home to wild bears.

The boy, Yamato Tanooka first went missing at around 4 p.m. local time (3 a.m. ET) on Saturday, according to a spokesman for the Hokkaido Prefectural Police.
He said police had received an emergency call from his parents at around 6 p.m., and were initially told that the boy had gone missing while on a day trip to the area with his parents and sister to collect wild vegetables.

The parents later admitted to police they had left the boy alone in the mountains while on the way home to punish him for throwing stones at passing cars and people.

The boy's father suggested the family had hesitated in reporting him missing because of the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
"I was not able to ask for (a search) with a reason of punishment," he told TV Asahi. "I thought it might be taken as a domestic violence."

The parents immediately drove back to where they had left Yamato, but he was no longer there, according to the police spokesman.

Arrest warrants issued for 4 canadians. trampled fragile Yellowstone ecosystem & wakeboarded salt fl

The criminal complaint accuses the four men of breaking the park's regulations and veering off a boardwalk before stepping onto the largest hot spring in the country.

Yellowstone spokesperson Charissa Reid said they are still assessing the damage to the 'sensitive bacterial mats' that play a role in the colors of the spring.
'When people walk on them it actually makes like white footprints in the bacterial mat,' Reid said. 'Not only does it damage the bacterial mat but it also means that other people may be tempted to walk the same path.'

One visitor reported the incident to a park ranger after he took a video and several photographs of the offense, while the men posted photographs of themselves standing along the edge of the spring.

Yellowstone spokeswoman Charissa Reid said she thinks there are more instances of park visitors getting into trouble because they are looking to get their video and pictures out on social media.

According to their Facebook page, the group members 'travel around the world for a living and make fun and adventurous videos', while promoting their clothing line.

The men, several of whom are from Vancouver, were traveling in a recreational vehicle with British Columbia license plates and are believed to be back in Canada.
Although the group said they 'will be accepting the ramifications of our actions', they are unlikely to be extradited if they are already in Canada.
However, they can be arrested if they attempt to cross the US border or denied entry.

Did you call 911?' Here's how one man reached out to his rescuers

no names were exchanged that day in Hollywood.

The woman who came to the aid of a man in distress did not know him, nor did she know the other two women who offered support. When paramedics arrived and raced the man to the hospital, the street was cleared and the women returned to their routines not knowing if the man would live to see another day.

A few weeks later, a sign was posted to a tree at the intersection where the drama had played out.

"Did you call 911 last March 17?" it said. "You saved my life. Please call me."

The sign included a name, Leon, and a phone number. A colleague alerted me to the sign and I called several times. No answer.

The sign on the tree
Then one day Leon picked up. He is 71, a retired judge who preferred that I not use his last name.

He told me the story, or at least what he knew of it.

He was taking his car in for servicing that day, a day like any other, when he got hammered by a sudden, massive heart attack. He did not recall any warning signs, didn't know where it had happened or how he stopped his car. It was all a blank.

He learned from Los Angeles Fire Department records that someone had called 911 from the intersection of McCadden Place and Waring Avenue, not far from where he lives, and had begun CPR. So after five days in the hospital and more time in outpatient recovery, Leon drove to the intersection, posted his sign and began knocking on doors. He was grateful he hadn’t hurt anybody and was determined to give thanks.

Florida cop surprises homeless man with lunch

?w=423&h=450

Officer Acosta tells 7News that he went to grab lunch for two people and then came back to eat hot dogs with Robert. The officer sat down and had a 20 minute conversation with the man and spoke about each other’s life and how he became homeless.

Robert told the officer that he was battling cancer and has had several surgeries on his leg. After that, Robert lost his home and has not been successful in finding another job and getting back into society.

Officer Acosta said he enjoys helping others and likes to chat with others about issues as it helps bridge the gap between the police and homeless community.

Albuquerque police say they will no longer set up reverse drug stings involving the homeless.

Albuquerque’s homeless won’t be target of reverse drug sting

Albuquerque police say they will no longer set up reverse drug stings involving the homeless.

The Albuquerque Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1sVmg11) that while police spokeswoman Celina Espinoza defended the use of such a tactic, she says the department will refrain from using it on homeless people.

City officials have voiced concerns about undercover operations luring homeless people to buy drugs in order to arrest them.

The decision comes as Mayor Richard Berry is highlighting city programs under his administration aimed at panhandlers and the homeless.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/may/29/albuquerques-homeless-wont-be-target-of-reverse-dr/

interviews last week, a broad cross-section of city councilors expressed serious reservations about reverse stings – especially a recent operation in which undercover officers sold small amounts of drugs to homeless people, then arrested them.

“It’s ridiculous,” said Councilor Klarissa Peña, a West Side Democrat. “It’s a shame – embarrassing, kind of.”

Republicans also voiced concern.

“Given the shortage of officers and the demands of the Department of Justice, aiding or enticing homeless people to buy $5 of crack is probably not worth our time or resources,” said City Council President Dan Lewis, a Republican from the West Side.

The debate over the reverse drug sting comes as Berry, a Republican, touts the success of several city programs launched under his administration to help homeless people and panhandlers. The city has won national recognition for offering day jobs to panhandlers and finding places to live for people the most at risk of dying on the streets.

Berry said his office had no part in the reverse drug sting.
